Hi everyone! I have been teaching several private lessons on IDJs specifically, so if you are interested, please let me know, and here is a discord server I specifically made for lessons. Still working on stuff for it. Thanks!! 🥳💙✨️ discord.com/invite/SSztr7wG
I think being able to do this move, is just as important as being able to ewgf with Kazuya. If you can't throw this out on a moments notice, you can't really take your Sora to a competitive level.
@sethwilliamson3596 That's how you do the most effective nair/fair loop combos. If you don't idj them your opponent is more likely to be out of reach for next loop. Sure Sora has lots of other tools, but this one of those sure fire combos that when done right always connect, like ew godfist with Kazuya
@@michaelzamora8056 kameme has started mostly just using short hop nair delaying the second hit and buffering a fast fall in order to start combos, he uses noops mostly as a combo extender but he tends to prefer forward air for it over nair
For me, it works better by pressing the jump button twice instead of pressing two jump buttons simultaneously. I changed my jump button to "x" so it is next to the attack "A". So every time I do IDJ combos, it starts like this. Tap X--> Fast Tap X+A And it works for me, but also keep in mind you can buffer a jump before any animation ends which makes it way easier.
When practicing you gotta be careful not to do it too quickly one after another. After landing (even empty land) you‘re in a few frames of lag allowing you to buffer. Doesn’t sound like much, but basically doubles, or triples the window. (From 3 frames of jumpsquat to that plus 4 or so frames of landing)
ooo I found this really useful! I'm starting to learn Sora atm and found these really difficult (since I don't play M2, Ness, Peach, etc) but they're getting easier; thank you for a nice, progressive set of drills to practice! 😃
@@treehouse_ttv idk why but every time I do the nair loops bowser keeps going to high. Do I have to do fair sometimes or like what am I doing wrong lol
As an incineroar main, learning to play sora has been one of the hardest learning curves known to man I just dont know where to start until now. This and the izaw guide will hopefully get me to where i wanna be
Yooooooo i'm getting the hang of it. Update, i'm probably gonna trade in my GCN Controller for a Pro controller based off of how easy i did this loop on the joy con
I would like some better visual ques like the little DJ circle telling me if I double jumped too low or too high or things like that. Other than that nice video.
That depends on the character I think. What's too high for Kirby is probably not too high for Bowser. Even then, in general you want to be as close to the ground as physically possible, so your fastfall ends sooner.
Obligatory comment added for the sake of the algorithm. Seriously though good tut. I've heard some people turn on tap up jump for the first time since smash 64 to do this as well. I prefer the shoulder button like you used in the video though. (Also obligatory emote just in case) 🤫
LOLLL thank you so much homie! 🥹 yes! I’ve heard of people doing that, and I also prefer the back ZL button! Whatever your controls are, it still takes getting used to for sure. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! 😊✨
if it works, it works! ive noticed that when I try to do that, the timing messes me up. with the back button, the timing works for more combos, personally
Is it possible to combo without using idj with sora? Cause I’ll be honest with the idj stuff you kinda have do the following all at the same time: 1. Track where your opponents going (including following di) 2. Maintain the dexterity in your hand for long periods of time 3. Follow the tight timings and very specific hitboxes This looks like it’s far beyond my capabilities to pull this off during a real match, hell even in training mode this idj thing is overbearing no matter how hard I try, so anyone know if is possible to get similar performance without idj?
You can but its a less consistent method. You may do everything perfect, but they still just di out of it. If you wanna take sora to high competitive level, you should practice this.
Yes. IDJ isn't always the answer. It's good to not for mixups, but also, at some early early percents it will not work, depending on the character of course
God these smash channels really need to explain what they're talking about because I came in having no competitive knowledge and just started playing sora. All I learned was instant double jump and I still don't know what an IDJ or a Nair is
Shout out to everyone who can do this because its been over a year and I still Cant do it. Just don't have the finger control😭 I literally Cant even get the 2nd hit of Nair or Fair out. Every time I land the first hit, Sora just fast falls and never does the 2nd hit😭😭
On gamecube controller have L trigger and y set to jump and I can spend hours and not get a single IDJ to come out that close to the ground. Not sure what folks are doing differently? Thanks!
you gotta make sure to let go of Y before you press L (or the other way around, depending on how you do it). generally you have 3 frames for that, but if you do it during landing lag, you have more time. it helps to do it in frame by frame to get the understanding right, and then do it at slower speeds and go up to 1x as you get used to it
i just don't understand. I'm trying to get it figured out but for some reasons my controller refuses to buffer any aerial after pressing jump. i can't get the double jump to come out lol. anybody else having trouble? been playing this video on 0.1 speed even to see the buttons dude is pressing but i just can't figure it out. i see the buttons he's pressing but when i press them they don't work
I have questions just on sora nair loops in general and their practicality could they be used on any weight class in the game or is it exclusive to heavy weights and some medium weights?
it depends--on characters like rob, its not as common as it seems. it will work on almost any heavy, some medium and for the others, thats when IDJ fair comes into play. sora can be super different against every character
Dude, I can’t even IDJ on the first step unless I’m using trigger and analog stick, I can’t seem to do it with just the buttons. Does anyone have any tips?
I am not getting the nair 2 to come out correctly. Do I need to fast fall first and hit it before I hit the ground. What's the trick here? Also, being more specific about what nair 1 2 is would be super helpful for plebs like me.

no matter what i do, i press both of them and only one jump comes out, my back trigger works, and this doesn’t work with any other button the 2nd jump isn’t inputting for some reason, it’s almost like buffered can i have any help with this?
I feel like I keep getting short hop nair, even when I *know* I'm delaying it. I feel like I can hit it alot easier with a single button. What am I doing wrong?

I think being able to do this move, is just as important as being able to ewgf with Kazuya. If you can't throw this out on a moments notice, you can't really take your Sora to a competitive level.

It’s no where near as important and there’s practically 0 use for it in competitive because it isn’t true
