- Here are the automated announcements for a R179 J train that gets extended past Broad street to Prospect Park on the Brighton Line. Even though the M train no longer goes to South Brooklyn , the announcement still announces via the Brown M line south of Broad street.
From Jamaica Center - Parson Archer, Queens to Prospect Park in Brooklyn - via Jamaica Local / Nassau Street Express / 4 avenue / Brighton lines.
Recorded from various reroutes over the years from 2010 to 2018 and compiled into the new R179 format to be made current as of February 2019.

The old QJ Line or Q Via Jamaica, ran from 168th Street-Jamaica Avenue to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, Monday to Friday & from 168th Street/Jamaica Avenue to Broad Street, late nights & Weekends. It was local on the Brighton Line.
"Mahnattan bound J EXP" still sounds pleasant towards this day, nice

Just an update: there is no J program from Jamaica Center to Prospect Park. It originates from Essex Street. Also, it no longer announces via the M.

I'm surprised this program still exists - this'll NEVER happen again as it's impossible to send a J into south brooklyn anymore cause the power in the tunnel connecting Broad to Montague is cut [limited to work trains]
I know this is an old video but yeah, if they end up erasing the J to prospect program from the ntts it would make sense why
@AuroraQ46 it's not, there was a transfer through just the other day.
There's an issue with clearence on older 60 foot trains. 160 and 179s can run fine. The reason they don't do this is that no one used this.
It was an alternative for when the 4 didn't run to brooklyn.

J train via m line? While there no transfer to the m line in that stretch. It should been via r then via q. Also, I think they only do this when b train is not operating.

zanee64 The announcements were never updated because of the poor utilization of the service (compared to the 3 line, which was more utilized).
Prospect Park as a terminal? Might as well just run the J as a Brighton Express str8 to Brighton Beach.
This was taken during the weekends when B service does not run, since the service was meant to replace the 4 train into Brooklyn.
Since then, the J shuttles into Brooklyn have been discontinued, with riders advised to use the 2, 3, N, or R trains.

TrainGuy Videos, Blogs and more Actually, they could start at Essex Street, with the weekend M extended to Chambers Street or 96th Street. The interlocking north of Chambers is all at-grade, so just one train crossing over could delay all other D, J, N, Q, and R trains.
