In my opinion, the MTA should've kept stating trunk lines, instead of 'via the letter line', when the train is being rerouted. It would make sense on what line the train is when rerouted. But in 2008, I guess the MTA wanted to make it simple, and add 'via the letter line' to make things easier for riders to understand what line they are being rerouted to.
MTA has been trying to get riders to know what trunk lines are for a long time. By them putting it on subway maps to them adding it on train displays, most ppl still dont know the train lines by trunk, only by which color and letter/number the train is
13:08 if you pause it with good timing, it'll show transfers to the (2),(3),(4),(5),(B),(D),(N),(NX),(QB),(QJ),(RJ),(RR), and LIRR. Neato easter egg, Mr. Railfan!
I can recall that old programs like these have a pause before the station is announced, the overheads said the station and then "NEXT" instead of the current "THE NEXT STOP IS" and then the station. Specifically for the first R160B on the N train, the original Manhattan bound N announcement in Brooklyn says the one shown except it didn't say Local.
Always love hearing the original NTT announcements. The late night transfers at 14th Street and 34th Street were used until about 2015 when the (Q) began running local.
The trunk line announcements were a little throwback to the past. Too bad they got rid of them as now passengers don't know line names anymore which is arguably more important than knowing letters.
This is a Coney Island Bound N Train via the West End Line. Okay, Catherine. 😂 They should've kept this announcement. They even had a chance with those with the Sea Beach Rehab project!
10:40 For A Fraction Of A Second It says “THIS IS WHITEHALL ST” in weird Lettering Plus The “TRANSFER TO” And the Old (EE) And (RR) trains. And old logo of NYC staten Island ferry. Edit: 13:08 Old 2 3 4 5 B D N (NX) (QB) (QJ) (RJ) (RR) and Lirr. In a Old 1960s Style
Oh my f*****g god They really should have kept these original announcements along with the Trunk Lines Used Even though the B/D were never assigned on R160’s , were there any original announcements for those routes? Do you have them?
Oh yea I forgot to ask do you have the Old S program from Franklin At/Prospect Park to Brighton beach or S to sheepshead bay Edit: or do you have the original D to Coney Island via the B express line? Because the new one via Brighton express says “via the Quepress line” horrible spliced “via the Q line”
You can, I actually used to develop for it a while ago. Havent had much time to make any routes though. I made most of the cabins that are used for nyc subway routes.
Man I miss the (M) to bay pkwy thanks for bringing us down mta memory lane as you do so well and I also miss the Atlantic-pacific announcement

tbh if its in manhattan, i would do the trunk line. however, if its in the other boroughs, list the letter line

For example, in an R160 a train video in 2006, the overhead said “BEACH 36 ST NEXT” instead of “THE NEXT STOP IS” and then “BEACH 36 ST”
OH YES I REMEMBER THAT

Very Good Mr.Railfan! Do You Happen To Have The Original (E) Announcements Or 2001 R143 (J) Announcements?
Before the W program got updated, it had an alternate "Transfer to the M60 bus" announcement. Did you happen to record that by any chance?
Yes I have that

Nah I dont have the S. Must've been removed early on
What's Path? I've never heard of it before.
Also, it's so refreshing to watch this during quarantine because I've missed this.
PATH is a separate rail system that goes from Manhattan to New Jersey but not very far in.
