Damn, John! Way to kick up your production. From a talking hand to a slick looking set.
Thank you Phil.
Really loving the new recording space! You're really stepping up your game, keep it up!
Man, I'm really wishing they would make these arbor dies for larger cartridges (larger than 338 LM). They seem really well made and thought out. I'm loading around 40-50 cartridges for my business, and the SAC Infinity APS has been perfect for what I've needed, but there's still quite a few that I can't currently load for since they're too big for the Infinity.
I purchased the Micron Arbor Seater a few months back and definitely pleased with the quality. Shooting 6 Dasher and avg 0.001 run out
(not that concentricity affects down range performance to that degree) but was avg 0.003 with my other high end arbor seater. Bullet seating depth is consistently the exact measurement every time keeping my SD
Wow, just randomly ordered one of these yesterday. Looking forward to it now.
Really enjoyed this. Good job using what you had on hand while waiting on those tracks to come in so you can finish everything. Looking forward to seeing everything once it's finshed.
Looks great. I have meany L.E. Wilson Micrometer seating Dies and love the quality.
Awesome detailed explanation as always! Thanks for sharing!!
Havent tried their chamber type seaters which is all i buy for seating dies. I do love Microns full length bushing dies they are absolutely flawless and IMO about the best and I assume their chamber type micrometer seating dies are too
Thank you john for showing the masses ,just what is out there,I my self have been using Sinclair for years it just has a base you have to ten with Charlie.
I buy alot of stuff from bullet central and im very happy with them! I looked at their dies but ended up with sac dies, mainly becasue of the multi caliber and the the name. Im in the process of switching brands on the rest of my dies, so maybe ill give these a try next.
Nice improvement to the video style and quality. 💯💯💯
Great video, very informative. Do love the new studio. Might want to look into the Inline fabrication flush mount system.
Yep, I actually have it on the way and I’m waiting for some special t track that I will be installing. But I really wanted to get this video made so I may deal with what I had.
Great new video format and presentation!
Glad you liked it!
Gavin Gear?! Is that you? 😄 cool space.
If concentricity is not such a big factor in the end then all it comes down to is portability of the press to matches and range. Thats where Arbor shines then. And Lee handheld model. 😉
Nice video John. I'm guessing the threaded die should work in a Bonanza/Forster coax press I'm considering a different press but I've had good results with the coax 52 years! not gonna split that seating stem with a compressed charge!!
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. And yes, this should work without issue on a Co-Ax.
I have both SAC and Bullet Centrals dies, and they both are good but Marks dies to me are better...his modular dies are the best out there to me.
Great video and presentation. It would be nice the die manufactures would marking on micrometers a bit larger.
Nice new set, John.
Thank you. I appreciate that.
@@FClassJohn you’re welcome, keep up the good work! You and Erik have got me getting into F-Class. Thanks for all you do.
To my mind the sizing die is good because of the bushing chamber alignment that may better. But their chamber seating die is too tight, on these dies a bit of play is always necessary. My bud bought one, last time he had some cases stuck in it when reloading during a competition...
Hi John, curious would one benefit from using high end dies, when using a rockchucker or hornady iron press. Or would the slop of the press negate the benefits of better high end dies.
Hey there, love the presentation room you're in.
FYI, a micron (1 µm) is a thousandth of a mm, not a ten-thousandth of a mm (that would be 0,1 µm).
1 µm is roughly 0.4 ten-thousanth of an inch (0,0000393")
Thank you for the clarification. I looked it up and that's the data I saw so clearly I made a mistake. Sorry about that but I appreciate you putting the correct numbers in.
3 millionths. Not 3 ten thousands.
@@lance6563 that'd make 39,3 millionths then
Great video. Wanted to try arbor press and inline seating dies. See your using the k/m rather than 21st century… which do you prefer if only one? As well these or le Wilson dies if buying over?
@@greyghostnw I prefer the KM because of how the post is a trapezoid so it doesn’t allow for any rotational movement on the head over time. I just find it to be a really solid unit out of any of the arbor presses I’ve used. Just my personal preference.
@ thanks! Put an order in with le wilson be it local with a couple seating dies and standard k/m…Thinking turning necks as well, about only parts im currently not doing. Any recommendations for turning necks?
Recently purchased Micron threaded Seater and Full length bushing dies. They are smooth for sure! However, I am never able to preserve a precise setting (both case headspace and bullet seating) when removing them from my single stage (RCBS) press when relying on the split rings. Unscrew the die and lose the setting. May have to go to pressure lock rings to avoid sneaking up on the setting with each change out. Or, am I missing something?
Always enjoy your information. And as for the cheat glass, it doesn’t get any better with time. 🤓
Try some Lee Breech lock system if your single stage press has the removable threaded groment on top to open to the bigger diameter for the breech lock adapter so you can set your dies permanently if you feel you must. That or buy a Redding T7 Turret press and buy multiple turrets which you can buy a Redding Turret stacker for guys who like having multiple turrets with dies set
Thanks for the video, John! Sorry if I missed it, but will you be using these Micron seaters regularly? I just looked at the “What I Use” page on your website and still see the SAC seater in there, so just curious if these will make the list or not. I’m wanting to upgrade all my dies and have been considering going with Micron.
My OCD level just isn't high enough to justify a die at that price, with dollar difference, and freight, it's over 400.00 in Cda. Same with the SAC stuff, what I have will do. Perhaps if I was 20 yrs old and buying first time, I'd do it and find a way to pay for it.
Hey John...Tell me about the seating stems. I have a Sinclair/Wilson and it needs one for VLD's and one for secants. Does this also need two? After seating...is there shall we say 'suction'?
Youve handled alot of stems in your life!!!😂😅😂
Has A really nice looking hole too!🤣🤣🤣
*PAUSE.*
Yeah he set himself up for that one.
😂😂
How do you deal with variances in the ogive dimensions or curvature? I have issues with Bergers seating at different depths without any change in the Forster micrometer die I use.
Really been considering moving my seating operation to an arbor press. I dont compete, but im ocd like crazy and knowing I may be leaving some accuracy on the table is killing me.
It’s a totally different feel, but I know lots of people who really love it because it’s a very precise way to seat a bullet in a very simple way.
G’Day John, I contacted Bullet Central in regards to their 7-6.5PRC seating die to see if it was designed for Bryan Blake’s FCP version with has the 40* AI shoulder and shortened neck or if it was usable on the 7-6.5PRCW/7PRCW such as Erik C & you are using. Luke Albin from BC technical replied that without seeing the reamer print than the answer was “probably no”… Not having the print to send along can YOU send one or confirm that their die will or will not work on the 7PRCW. Too much $ to spend on something that may not be suitable for my needs…
Many Thanks
John could you color the graduation marks and make it easier to see?
Great Info. I see you are using the new NEXUS PRESS, how do you like it?
😍 love it, video coming soon.
when is the nexus press review. Should be receiving mine soon, July shipment.
It's coming soon.
Looks like Gavin is putting on some weight.
It may be a lovely die but anyone saying they are machineing a workshop hand tool to a micron looses credibility.
For scale, scope lens coatings can be more than a micron.
👍👍👍
$325.00 for a seating die ?........... limited stock?
I have their 300 prc seating die and it really is a super nice die. Very accurate and repeatable, but saying that i dont have a ton of experience with other dies. Also a local company, so im more than happy to support.
@@BEARDSANDBARRETTS To say I dont have experience with this die, granted, Wilson was a standard for benchrest for years. Corbin, C&H, Redding, Foster, RCBS, ect.... My last Redding set was a Bushing die set at around $230 from Precision reloading. So, im a little leery of a new die with no track record.
@@mtnshooter2487 I will say I looked last night, and they are about 65 ish dollars off right now. That being said, 260ish is still a lot. But like I said, they are local. I know a few of their machinists, and they do great work!

Who is this homeless man?
😂
We cleaned him up for the second half…😂
@@FClassJohn hahaha
I recently got the arbor die, it works great with some brands brass but resized Alpha cases get hung up down by the base. Not sure why. After 2-3 reloads they wont drop in all the way. Not sure why.. Using a FL redding sizing die, set up properly.
Not sure how you isolated that it's the base but definitely make sure you pull the bushing and try just to make sure it's not a donut or neck issue that's grabbing. If not then it's the base like you said and it's often just a small variance between whatever chamber you're shooting and their dimensions in the die. I'd give them a call and let them know what chamber and reamer you're using and they should have a fix for you.
@@FClassJohn thanks John, I spoke with them yesterday and they want to inspect the die. I'm pretty sure the Alpha is just a little bigger as they measure a thou larger down by the base.
@@anitacoco7542 Yeah my guess too, they may offer to open the base up or something??
