Hold tight, I have been told that ADI the manufacturer of AR powders that supply Varget to the U.S. market is tooling up to start production of primers.
I bought one about a month ago and run it on an RCBS RC Supreme as well. So far, I use it currently for SP Alpha .308 & 6.5CM. This unit is exceptionally well made and works perfectly. I'd prefer a .001 in. per click implementation, but it works fine, just as it is. It is obviously made by engineers for precision-oriented people who appreciate functionality and value (go over show.) I am so happy I found this unit instead of spending $650 on the other platinum-plated widget
I like my hand primer; it is quick and easy, and I can feel it when the primer is firmly seated. This looks cool, but I don't think I will change. Some of the beautiful reloading presses you have shown are a different story but are currently out of my price range.
I have the PCPS. It’s a great tool wonderfully machined. Makes priming easy peasy with my arthritic hands. I load the tubes with the Double Alpha machine. No poking primers for me!
@@airborne350g That would probably push me into getting one. My problem is I literally don't own a press that I can use it on right now. 750, Summit and Nexus.
For all the people saying primer depth doesn’t matter,do some research and if you do buy one do some testing with different depths,I’ve done it and it does make a difference
How consistent were the primer depths with the same headstamp brass? I use Lapua brass and the rim thickness varies too much for consistent seating depth if the tool indexes off the rim. The Sinclair tool is slower to use and especially to adjust but it produces very consistent results.
I have been using the RCBS Ram Priming setup forever, and this setup seems to be a fantastic alternative, especially because you have a primer tube instead of individually handling the primers. Thanks, Gavin, for bringing this into the light 😊
This is what I went with over the primal rights unit. The pricing is a no Brainer but they also fixed the issues the primal rights has with loose primer tube and not having a spring on the shuttle
Unfortunately if it's dependent on rim thickness this isn't going to be anymore accurate then what's already available with other premium primer seaters. We need to index off the head stamp side of the case head like the Sinclair primer. There is quite a bit of variation in rim thickness even in one lot of premium brass. Bryan Zolnikov channel has some very good content on this topic and the effects it has on velocity variation in your standard deviation.
Great bit of kit, only thing stopping me using it more is I ran out of unprimed brass... Even without precision gains just not hurting my hands priming a lot of 100 cases is worth the expense.
Went ahead and picked up a pcps set with a cheap little lee breech lock press to leave it on. Been muddling it over for a couple months and then this video came out. Figured I had better grab one
Well, to get consistent primer, seating depth… You would have to measure your primers and take the shortest primer measurement and then you would have to measure your primer pockets and take the deepest primer pocket depth subtract them and that will tell you how far to see the primer just to get the anvil to touch the bottom of the primer pocket
Primal Rights sold a tool like this years ago. It was called CPS Lite and was adjustable however did not have a micrometer type it used a stop collar. I still use the one I bought I never bought a CPS bench mount but if I were to get another priming tool it would be a CPS bench mount.
I would just like someone to show me the evidence that this precision primer seater produces anymore accuracy than my hand priming tool. What is more accurate? Seating the primers until you feel them bottom out or seating them to a consistent depth regardless of if they bottom out or not? I would love to know the answer to that. This precision primer looks like a great tool. I'm just not sure if it is any better. Perhaps Gavin could do some real world testing on target so that we would know. Then we would have something more than just a product review.
Love mine. I am thinking about another for doing small rifle although they are that easy to set up that I might not bother. As a bonus the primer feed tubes are a massive improvement over my Dillon tube's and I find the plastic tips to be better as well. The owner of Derraco can be (more than) a little difficult to deal with directly on warranty but his parts a first rate - I have the ugly annealer, SRT Trimmers, competition shell holders and his PCRS. Being in Aus it is not the easiest to get all the options you have states side and Derraco fill a market hole for us and is often available when other brands are not.
Thing I'm really curious about, I've been having issues with slight tolerance stacking between the extraction rim, and the depth of the primer pocket. I modified one of my other priming tools to use a die spring, so it applies a roughly similar amount of force, even if the depth was slightly different between each casing.
Currently loading on a Bonanza press didn't know if it was worth putting one together on there. What's your opinion thought about buying a separate dedicated press
I love mine. Modified it easily to work with the SAC Nexus press. The accuracy and precision is similar to much more expensive off-press seaters and is much less expensive,
@@gregdeal4596 OK, Cut a primer tube just short enough for the handle to clear it at the top if its stroke. I used a rectangular plate of aluminum that spans across the front, wide enough to cover the two cam pucks. Aluminum thickness of .12" or more will not flex. Simply place the plate over the pucks and the shell holder area. I have an early version of the PCPS and it's great, but the large primer tube does not accept a full 100 primers, and it's a PITA when you can only use 96 primers at a time. Did they address this shortcoming in this version?
you can custom order 330mm primer tubes from us. post satchels not accepting this size as they were a bit too long. if you are willing to pay a few more bucks. I can get them for you.

Primal Rights has a video explaining how this helps accuracy. And F-class John can probably attest to how it has helped improve accuracy and consistency.
Sure. Let's make priming more complicated and extra pricey. I just primed a bunch of 22-250 this morning on my 30 year old lee hand primer and I'd be willing to bet they were all within 1 or 2 thousandths of each other. I agree with the other commenter, can't see it or justify it.
Primal Rights has a video on their primer seater that goes into depth on the advantages of using a primer seater depth tool. It is not a tool that everyone needs but it will reallly up your reloading and consistency game from what i have seen.
