    My car used to need 4 cans of plasti dip and I had to redo it every year or so. The plasti dip is also pretty expensive in Australia ($30 AUD/can). Thanks to your video, I switched to VHT, only 2 cans needed and I think that'll be all I will ever need.

      Yea i tried the plastidip on my 4runner and didnt like how it would hold the dirt sometime especially in the summer(haha i know you know all about that heat in australia). Thanks guy im glad my video helped!

    I've painted wheels before myself. I've found it's a lot better to take them off the vehicle to paint them. If the still have tires on them, get a cheap deck of playing cards from the dollar store and stick the narrow side of them between the wheel and tire. A WHOLE LOT EASIER than trying to use plastic bags, paper or taping around the wheel, and much better results. It's so easy and quick to do too.

    • @southerngearz
      @southerngearz  2 года назад +1

      I like that playing card method i will have to remember that one!

      Thanks @tonycox.
      I'm in the Walmart paint section trying to figure out how to cover my wheels the dealership destroyed with wheel cleaner while washing it. They're 12 years old and fading but it didn't look bad. Now they look like shit. While looking for a deck of cards, I found 100 count 3"x5" index cards for 72 cents. These are a litte bigger and should work perfect. Thanks again for the idea.

    Spray as heavy as you want guys! When paint has an uneven surface, applying a hairdryer while it's still wet, will flatten it out. This has made painting my rims so much easier. The heat also helps it dry faster. This is a must for me because I live in humid ass Florida and that's bad for painting.

      There is a clear coat on the wheels and you will need to rough it up so it will stick. I recommend a red scotch brite that you can get from any parts store in the paint section. Only other option is to use plastidip but i dont recommend that because it ends up looking terrible over time.
