I did this my first playthrough, but I also threw in a Misericorde with the glintblade phalanx ash of war. Makes for easy staggers and very hard hitting crits, plus if you use assassin's cerulean dagger, you get a good chunk of FP back on a Misericorde crit.
The most impressive thing I find about these videos is how you guys remember where everything is or how to get every item. I finished the game with little to no tutorials and it took me a very long time almost like 100+ gameplay hours. Really. I started new game+ after I felt like I milked all the content out, and I came to RUclips to watch a few build videos and tutorials, and so far on my second play through it’s felt like an entirely new game. This game is really something else, my Best Buy on my PS5 by far. I might want to start recording gameplay and stuff when I get decent or better at the game. Do many people still do PVP? Or is that dying?
Many people likes to do arena duels when they want to PVP, I'd suggest getting the three Colosseums unlocked if you want to pvp, or you could just invade for 2v1s if you like
Duels and other colosseum pvp and invasions are pretty active I find on PC at RL137. Invasions occasionally take 3-4 minutes to connect depending on the time and day.
Alternative video title: How To Not Bully Renalla Couple of things: 1. If you want to level dex more for a true Dex/Int, I’d highly recommend killing Millicent for the prothesis talisman. 2. Everything I do here also boosts the Wing of Astel’s R2’s, so you can follow this guide and use them instead for a ranged option. Hope you like the vid!
A really fun option which I did with my first play through is ensure you have the base stats to run Moonveil Katana, Darkmoon Greatsword, and Wing of Astel. That way you can keep swapping your weapon when you get bored. All 3 offer a fun spellblade Int/Dex experience, without getting tired of the same weapon over and over. 😊
There's also the death poker wich has three different ways to use it's ash of war and also builds up frost. It may not have the aesthetic star light glows that the others do but it's still a great weapon. PS: You can also have a cold infused Knight or Banished Knight Greatsword with the storm blade AoW to have a sorta Darkmoon Greatsword but with the better two handed moveset that the DM and Sacred relic Swird should have had, if one gets bored of the basic moveset that the DMG has.
From my own experience, you can get Rogier's set right after entering Ranni's service; when you talk to him, he'll say he's "on the precipice". After that, I just interact with the Roundtable grace 4 times and then he's dead. As for the Margit outside of Leyndell; I imagine he doesn't despawn if Morgott's dead because he drops the Viridian Amber Medallion +1, although I'm not sure why the commoner he spawns from can't drop it himself once Morgott's dead.
I believe how many times you use graces and “pass time” is what determines his death , based off Reddit threads of people talking about trying to save him , by using less graces Since what is killing him is an in game timer
Carina Retaliation not only has 1 or 2 estra frames on the parry, but it also has a different hitbox. It parries a little bit in front of you (to help you parry magic) something that normal parries don't have. The other 2 "special" parries also have that. - Golden parry has a horizontal box (se people claim that vertical attacks are harder to parry with it) - Storm parry has a HUGE hitbox Infront of you, you can parry things from the distance you would cast Nebula. But it consumes a lot of FP.
I was very lucky to have used wing of Astel as my main weapon on my first play through always thought it was a total hidden gem very underrated weapon you can wreak absolute havoc with it
You're right about the Carian Retaliation frames - Bucker parry has a few less active frames than both Carian Retaliation and Golden Parry, or at least that's the data I've seen from searching the ashes of wars. Golden Parry has more of a wonky hitbox to it though, even if it has a bit of range.
Goddamn, it's crazy to see these weapons I tried out and couldn't get to work for me just being totally OP. I think Rogier does indeed die once you get Ranni to open Renna's Rise and take the portal to Ainsel River. Great video Thingfishy! c:
Haha, yeah sometimes it takes a little more knowledge about buffs and stuff. The first video I ever posted was a commander Niall fight on my first playthrough with Mimic tear on a str/fth build. Wrote a strat in the description because it took me hours to beat him. Came back to him with the same build in my str/fth guide and flattened him first try with no mimic, was the easiest Niall fight I’d done. Had all the same gear on first playthrough but none of the buff knowledge. Thanks for watching, Bandit!
@@ThingfishyGaming Rogier dies when you _start_ Ranni's questline, not using the Renna's Rise portal. This happens because his extended questline requires you to join Ranni to find the Cursemark of Death (which he dies before seeing, RIP). Also, if he stays unconcious even after quitting out and/or leaving and returning to Roundtable, apparantly resting at a new Site of Grace progresses his death and allows his loot to be picked up quicker
I did this build (and the full setup) and had some general trouble against God Skin Fatty in Lava House. I chalk it up to me being bad at parrying though. Got to a point where I could get through phase one perfectly, but phase two saw me getting wrecked. So I just went back and bullied Radahn, then got the weapon for the build, and finally went back for Fatty and Ryker. The weapon completely trivialized phase 2. While he's rolling at you, if you've got him stuck on a pillar you get to just spam L2s to freely kill him. Following the "I'm not very good" train of thought, I also got a bunch of points in Vigor before you, but still found myself doing plenty of damage. It made running through a bunch of the areas much easier, and I was tired of all of the one shotting Fatty did to me.
I'd also like to bring up how I altered the build, separate from my above comment. I know that the ash of war we get from Rogier does a fantastic amount of poise damage, and is buffed by his armor. Something I think you failed to mention in the build is that Nebula is ALSO boosted by the Spellblade set. This was not something I found out about until I was at the very end game. Any way, I slapped that onto maxed out Misericorde, and abandoned spell casting. I also slapped on the Dagger Talisman and the Talisman for AoWs. One AoW Glintblade Phalanx precasted, and two nebulas was usually plenty enough to stagger any boss I threw at it. Then, one more nebula (depending on the boss), and a repost with the Misericorde, and that boss was almost dead, if not completely. Since we don't break the dex casting speed breakpoint, I dropped dex down to only what I needed (17). I also brought the character to PvP level (150) and dumped my remaining levels into Arcane, while hitting the soft cap of Vigor. Mind is not necessary beyond what we have because these skills are already very cheap, and I really just wanted to lean into doing crits on the back of my L2s. NG+ doesn't stand a chance, and I find it to be the most fun build I've played.
So rogier actually will sleep/die when u get the fingerslayer blade Edit: You can also find a somber 9 earlier than the one in mountaintop 17:55 you can find one in caelid below the divine tower super easy to get with no fighting
Great video. Always divided about which way to go developing a PVP build so it's great to be able to easily and quickly set up a bunch of them. Getting better at offing bosses every time I do it. Thanks for the really useful videos on how to do this. Awesome!
I followed this guide up until Godskin Noble who could just one shot me. But I feel I have a good enough idea of the general playstyle so can take it and do my own thing. Fun build!
BTW, you should also pop a golden-pickle fowl foot when Night's Cavalry jumps off the bridge. There are 2 feet that you can get really easily in Limgrave

The most fun part about this guide is when you go to volcano manor and find out that you suck at parrying. You gonna have the lovely experience of a long run followed by death over and over and over again. Your vigor of 16 will suruve a hit though ,just. Don't bother trying to call a summon when you enter as will just attack the NPC at the entrance that chased you from the stairs. A tip is bring alot of health potions and rock sling the bugger to death assuming you have enough mana potions.
Oh hey I sorta made this same build, though in the end I added 1 more strength and DEX for the moonveil katana. It is different enough from the Wing of Astel to play with both. I will say, while I also have 80 int, I still use ashes of war 80% of the time over spells. Even put some INT ashes of war on daggers over spells… it’s just more damage and more effective.
I did the same and used moonveil and wing. Moonveil was great vs beast clergyman and other fast moving bosses. Also, I tweaked the talismans like radagons icon for ritual sword.
Definitely not a guide for new players. OP, as long as you never get hit. I think that speaks a bit more to the player being overpowered rather than the build. There's a lot of parrying and just damage avoidance going on here which would indicate to me that it's more reflective of the player's ability over the setup in-game. I mean you have 21 Vigor, no armor/poise and have ramped up your Int to 50 by level 70.

On my second try here. Gave up my first character a while back and saw this guide. Now I am trying to follow along (which most of the time is quite easy, unless I don't see *that* ledge or *this* tree 😅). However, the fight against Rykard gives me a headache. First off, no themed character creation makes me sad. Also, about Rogier: I don't know for sure, but usually I talk to D, do Fia's quest until she kills him, and soon after, Rogier is dead. On my current playthrough, I postponed Fia's quest for quite a while, and Rogier still lives, so I assume their fates are linked.
I know this comment is like SUPER late but you do NOT NEED to have to parry the godskin noble in Volc Manor. Just go make 3 or 4 sleep pots and spam the slicer while he's asleep. You can still make more than enough for the Duo Fight.
After i got the amber shard then i headed to talk to ranni but shes asleep, how to talk to her? Edit: i watched some guides regarding ranni's quest, turns out i have to beat radahn
I really love your guides and this build is no different. I was wondering, since your guides often talk about navigating Volcano Manor and the Mountain Tops, could you maybe do an in depth walk though of Volcano Manor and how to get to the Mountian Top for newbs like me who have no idea what we're doing?
Honestly great videos...some of the best Elden ring ones for sure...Earned my subscription due to great production, no bull explanation! Wish I could give you my account so you could beat this for me...LOL
You must be bone tired of people seeing your footage and telling you they can play the game better than you, but I just want to offer a geniunely helpful tip: At around 21:40, you talk about how clergyman doesn't have particularly long openings to cast Nebula in. He has a sort of wonky AI when it comes to positioning, that makes it incredibly easy to force the exact same combo out of him over and over that always ends with his very long overhead slam that you don't even need to roll away from so it's the perfect time for charged R2s or a fat Nebula cast that is guaranteed to pop while he's not busy shuffling around the arena constantly. ruclips.net/video/IY7BvV8qsfs/видео.html I know that a lot of rl1 runs seem like "just get good" but it blew my mind how easy it is to execute clergyman if you just know where to stand

Currently on Godskin and its painful, with the amount of vigor at this stage he oneshots you if you make a mistake =(
Craft sleeping pots next time it makes it a lot easier
I would love for you to make a assassin/dagger build.
On my second try here. Gave up my first character a while back and saw this guide. Now I am trying to follow along (which most of the time is quite easy, unless I don't see *that* ledge or *this* tree 😅). However, the fight against Rykard gives me a headache. I get like one crouching stab in, then he one-shots me. Every! Single! Time! That's so frustrating...I will keep trying, though :) Thanks for your great videos, keep it up!
You may need more vigor
@@hughmongus6959 I beat him after leveling up a bit more (including more vigor, of course). I'm nkw level 140 and actively refusing to beat Elden Beast before I haven't collected all the things 😁
Add the scavenger curved sword and infuse it with cold. It's something else.
OMG THINGYFISH SO COOL ps i hope next build in black/magic
On the list! Thanks for watching, Talha!
Also great video, not even done with it but liked and subscribed! 👍
turns out i made this build my first playtrough without even knowing
First off, no themed character creation makes me sad. Also, about Rogier: I don't know for sure, but usually I talk to D, do Fia's quest until she kills him, and soon after, Rogier is dead. On my current playthrough, I postponed Fia's quest for quite a while, and Rogier still lives, so I assume their fates are linked.
Didn’t want to waste one in covering it with hats! Normal service resumes next week! Oh that’s interesting! Thanks for watching!
Star/int maybe your str/fth guide was pretty good
Oh never mind I just saw your video on it
I know this comment is like SUPER late but you do NOT NEED to have to parry the godskin noble in Volc Manor. Just go make 3 or 4 sleep pots and spam the slicer while he's asleep. You can still make more than enough for the Duo Fight.
I used Claymore and Moonlight Great sword but still this works well ty!
After i got the amber shard then i headed to talk to ranni but shes asleep, how to talk to her? Edit: i watched some guides regarding ranni's quest, turns out i have to beat radahn
Love your work!!
Thanks for watching, Dan! Glad you’re enjoying the channel.
with all these op builds, now i really want to see how you break the game with the most broken build of all...lv1
RL1 build will definitely happen. Tempted to wait until DLC is out so I can do the whole lot! Thanks for watching!
Yes! I was hoping you’d be able to post this early-weekend, that’s me set for today and tomorrow now!
Have fun, Jack! Hope you like the build. Thanks for watching!
I really love your guides and this build is no different. I was wondering, since your guides often talk about navigating Volcano Manor and the Mountain Tops, could you maybe do an in depth walk though of Volcano Manor and how to get to the Mountian Top for newbs like me who have no idea what we're doing?
I would love to see a lightning based build from you
1:47 bro do you even maiden...?
Thingfishy, can you do a int/dex build with Moonveil? Or was that already a plan?
Definitely one I’ll cover. Need more time away from katanas and Unsheathe though, as I overdid it on the Dex build! Thanks for watching!
I'm impressed you can beat godskin noble with 14 vigor
rogier dying early i think have something to do with you speaking to ranni without finding his bloodstain in stormveil castle first?
First video without a slider section since our face is covered the whole time xD
Unfortunately so! Character was actually a slightly modified Triss Merrigold from the str/fth build! Thanks for watching!
wondering margitt in altus is a mimic tear.
Love your videos
I subbed just for your intro. Good job.
The song he plays throughout sticks in my head the whole week
Thanks for the sub, Dbz! Glad you liked it!
Is there a reason why you decided to pick Wing of Astel over moonveil at all? Is Astel better?
You should make a madness build next
Honestly great videos...some of the best Elden ring ones for sure...Earned my subscription due to great production, no bull explanation! Wish I could give you my account so you could beat this for me...LOL
Has anyone tried a run like this with a Sword of Night and Flame build? I'm curious if the weapon can a carry a speed run.
BRAVO SIR, BRAVO!
You must be bone tired of people seeing your footage and telling you they can play the game better than you, but I just want to offer a geniunely helpful tip:
At around 21:40, you talk about how clergyman doesn't have particularly long openings to cast Nebula in.
Why don’t you ever upgrade vigor my guy
Would this be a good pvp build?
Is this weapon better than Flames of the Redmanes at staggering enemies?
you can also use moonveil (eww) with this build! very strong!
I got the knight off the bridge but died so my runes were on the ledge and i missed....
You should do a crit build!
