@@Crowgale exactly. That’s the exact reason. Cause Goro was about to find them as well before Saburo dismissed him. And we ALL know Takemura don’t play!
He does not. If you will try to hide elsewhere, he will detect you immidiately and kill. Looks like CDPR gave him ability to see through walls, so he can see player all the time and it is impossible to hide from him anywhere in the room, and the only way not to trigger him is to enter the hideout behind the TV to start the cutscene, so he cannot attack during that cutscene, but he still can see you since developers gave him vision through walls, what results in this bug. By the way, this implant glitches a lot. Wraiths in the first Panam mission get that red outline as well, what does THAT mean? They are suicidal people who want V to kill them, so they pretend that V is not detected?

Bugs and glitches can be fixed and worked out which they can do if people would stop shitting on it. Its sad really.
Its not a good meme and it is actually ruining a good game.
That's a really cool detail. Much cooler if it's intentional, but still cool if it isn't.
From what someone mentioned about fighting him later it's definitely not intentional, unfortunately. It's just a side effect of the mission being scripted so being in the wrong hiding place will get you killed, and CDPR didn't consider that the player could have a threat detector when they scripted Adam's behaviour in the scene.
If they had nothing else to do they'd probably patch it so Adam loses the ability to see through walls when the scene begins.
odin lindeberg True, since they expect the player with the limited playspace and lack of missions no one would bother paying Vik back or focusing on side content. Plus, Adam Smasher is the only scripted enemy you actually fight. So I’d assume they cut a corner where since the game is first person and doesn’t have any third person cutscenes it’s be fine to use the same model. It doesn’t make sense using a seperate model unless you’re gonna do cinematics
@@odinlindeberg4624 Still would have been cool if they made it so that he sees you and he just messages you saying "I see you" that would have made the encounter so much better and you could have fought him earlier as well making it a really challanging boss fight near the beginning
@@sebastianrodriguez8992 exactly bro, that would of been sick.
@@odinlindeberg4624 it still has to be intentional to a degree and personally I do think this was a detail they added in.
Like, they code the threat detector to pick up people that know you're there, which means they have to programme the parameters for what an npcs awareness is and make the two mesh with each other in order for it to work.
Those two things together does mean that in this situation, if it was an issue with the game causing this highlight, then everyone in the room would be highlighted, the script would dictate they follow through with the scene, but their coding for awareness would still trigger, but only adam is highlighted and he's quite literally the furthest away.
Even To-ah fuck I forgot his name, the bodyguard, who has a moment where the script makes him SUSPICIOUS that you're there, isn't highlighted.
So I very much doubt this isn't intentional. I'm not a programmer, but from what little I know, it's a lil bit too coincidental that the one character in this scene that probably does have the tech to pick you up is the guy that does pick you up, and a mistake in coding or them "forgetting" that theres threat indication upgrades almost 100% means the indicator would apply to everyone here except jackie and MAYBE the bodyguard that becomes your ally.
Saburo and his son should both be coded as enemy targets, it wouldn't just highlight Smasher if this was a coding error.
Plus as an extra detail, Smashers head appears to switch between you and Jackie depending on which is talking.
CDPRs devs are known for their details, People love to rag on the game, but every review that came out before the state of the last gen versions was found out was basically "This game has some issues, but it lives up to the hype"
The devs put alot of care and effort into the game, but it wasnt quite ready yet and then CDPR management cucked them and forced early release.
I 100% buy this clip as being an intentional thing, CDPR fucked up, but this kinda detail is exactly what I expect from the devs.
Plot twist he just installed Disney+ in his hardware and he's watching the mandolorian
That would explain why he's in hostile mode throughout the cutscene. He's thinking up ways to crush Djinn and his football sized companion
I remember my first time doing this mission, I was on edge cus he kept staring me down and in my head I repeated "he's about to kill me"
yeah this whole mission was probably one of the most suspenseful pieces of video game i've ever done, such a hook moment
This game honestly has one some of the best writing I've experienced in awhile it just sucks there's so much negative around it.
@@Elmohoody maybe i didn't watch too much of the marketing but it was as much as i anticipated it to be, minus the bugs of course
IKR I really felt as though he was seeing me and I’m glad I wasn’t wrong because I was thoroughly scared on top of being scared we’d get caught by the son and father
The actual fact smasher was highlighted while others weren’t fucking terrifies me
This isn’t a coincidence, he literally knows you’re there and he doesn’t want V or Jackie to know. It’s awesome how little details like that lead to terrifying theories, but I honestly wish V made a clutching gasp when smasher was highlighted red, that way Jackie would chime in and they would start panicking but lead to the same outcome.
there are many optic upgrades, they wouldn’t waste time making teeny tiny changes to scenes even if a player has enough money to buy the highlight upgrade by the time they played the mission.
I was suspecting Takemura to be highlighted too, since he is incredibly suspicious that someone is behind that cubby, although he doesn't _know_ like Smasher does.
Bope, just bad developers
Nah. Someone in the dev team just forgot to turn off the AI or w/e for Smasher. NG+ was a tacked on feature that came later and you were never meant to see this cutscene with that eye upgrade.
@@A_Simple_Neurose honestly, even if it wasn't intentional, it's such an awesome coincidence
Female V can sound ultra cute at times. "Doubt this cubby is sound proof" 💕
You should hear Cherami Leigh’s normal speaking voice, it’s pretty much this line 24/7 lol
Well, since she voices in anime she can turn up the cuteness
Rock hard
Ye i love the voice, female V all the way!
I did create both character genders as Corpo, & I might be crazy, but I have the feeling that the protagonist was meant to be a female character in the producer's mind from the very beginning. Either that or the woman who voiced V was much more experienced than the man who did it. Sometimes, the result from the male version of V was underwhelming to me. The "expression" in the voice for a lot of dialogues was missing. Like during an intense mission from Act 1, I could detect the sadness & disturbance in the female voice. Early on into the game, a quick example with female V as a Corpo who will whisper to Frank sharing info about her boss who is in a tough spot. You can see Frank's facial animation & body language, which tries to listen carefully to V's whispering. But male V never whispered while sharing the same dialogue & Frank did the same animations for that whispering sequence. Either the guy did not notice that NPC's body language, he didn't feel like whispering, or the person in charge of the voices didn't notice or didn't care for that small detail (maybe for the lack of time)-a lot of dialogues like that in the game that didn't hit me the same way.
That kinda gives this situation more creep factor. Imagine thinking about if that dude is gonna fuck your eye socket or pretend he didn't see anything to avoid spooking his boss. I mean, the guy hates Arisaka and only works as a means to pay off the debt for his body so it there's sense to the idea he may have intentionally ignored to see what happens but fuck those seconds of wondering.
>that dude is gonna fuck your eye socket
ok im interested
Smasher may hate Arasaka, but if letting a few thieves go in the short term allows him to wipe out a large group of civilian targets later, he will do it. The guy loves wholesale slaughter.
He's also a literal machine so he acts silent, ominous and immobile.
When I did this part I just kept going "So none of them have scanners? The dude who's 99% metal doesn't have the cheap ass scanner eyes I have? He really doesn't see two very obvious red outlines in this thing?" Hell idk why it took Takemura to take so long to scan you.
The Kiroshi Optics V has make them harder to be scanned/recorded, Jackie must just have plot armor lol
the scanner still can't see through solid obiects, need a ping hack to do that...altho idk, gameplay works differently considering in cutscenes or well, "scripted moments" people can die from 1 shot as opposed to gameplay where common enemies can eat an entire mag lol. so maybe in actuality, scanning ppls a lot harder

This guy also showed that he used a threat detector which automatically highlights the enemy who detected us. And of course adam smasher is detected in this scene without the player tag him
I am sure it is a bug. The underlaying mechanisms worked as in normal situations, but here it is hardcoded that we are not really detected. So most probably they blocked results of detection (proper icon over npc and npc's going into attack mode) that happen after detecting us, but they didn't remove the state itself so keroshi mod detects it. What actually supports this theory is fact that when you have cyberware named threat detector, he is ONLY red one in room.
And if you don't? What's the explanation, then?
@@TruOnyxfire It's much more likely that he knows you're there since he's coded to always know where you are in the boss fight during the last mission
@@liamedwards7656 Now you are talking about coding of the game, not the possibility of Adam knowing you are there, as a character in the game. The entire point of the theory is that it is being suggested that Adam, (the character), knows you and Jackie, (your characters), are in the pillar because of your cyberware optics having Threat Detector. Of course the video game mechanics know you are there, the entire game knows you are there in the programming, that's not what's being theorized.
@@TruOnyxfire The basis for this theory is that he's the highlighted and staring at you. The theory breaks the moment you realize that it was confirmed on the dev stream that Smasher is coded to "see you" the moment you enter the play area. The dev still suggested that the theory could be fun but is nothing but your own personal world building at that point
@@liamedwards7656 Yes, exactly my point. But the problem is people mixing IRL game coding with in-character hypothesis about why he is red. One is the logical reason of "that's the software's programming", the other is "V and Adam are real characters and we are making theories about why, "in-character" he is seen as red. Explaining the fact that it is the game's code to do it is pointless as everyone already knows that bit of common sense. So when people bring that up as a reason, it defeats the entire purpose of the video/thread. I am pointing out that, in-character, the theory behind Adam showing red because of threat detector falls apart if V doesn't have that eye mod in the first place, which means she never would see the red outline, but no matter what, in the game, she does. So it can't be because she believes he detects her or not.

This is the funny thing about this game and its reputation
It took about 3 days for the news to spread that old gen console versions were absolutely fucking scuffed, and obviously we all know the absolute clusterfuck that followed that
But a few reviews DID get out before that news spread, and pretty much all of them were glowing.
The one I remember most was YongYea, he had some early access I believe and put out his review like, the day after official release I think, and he criticized some of the down points, and noted some bugs were there, but not really anything you'd not expect from a massive game like this, but overall said it was worth the money and lived up to the hype
And then the news about last gen spread and everything went to hell, and for good reason sure, but then people just started taking the piss.
People were reviewing the game as if it was terrible in every way, simply to stay on that hate train for the game. Drama is good for business after all and it was now cool to rag on CP2077.
I've played through the first act myself on the fucking PS4, the technical issues are god fucking awful, completely scuffed, that's undeniable, things dont render, the game drops frames and lags, and it crashed once every couple hours, undeniably it was in a bad state
But, thats the technical issues.
The actual game? I was loving it. I hadn't enjoyed a game like that in a fair while, it was genuinely fun.
The only reason I stopped playing after the first arc was because I'm saving for a pc and I'm pretty close to having the cash for a pretty decent one, so i said fuck it, I'll call it quits here, get the PC and play it on a platform thats more stable and actually experience the game fully.
Peoples capacity to rag on shit mindlessly is fucking sad, its got issues like everything else but it's bs that this game isn't pretty fucking dope.
I damn near cried at the end of this mission and would have.....if jackies pistols hadn't glitched and clipped into his hands during a dramatic scene lmao
You must be really patient to grind and level up your character at this level before the prologue even ends
He knew you were there, but he was waiting for the go ahead. The Apex predator waits
I noticed this too and I absolutely think it was an extremely subtle and intentional choice by CDPR. Smasher probably thought "Oh this is just too perfect" and decided to do nothing.
Nahhhhhh he was just checking himself out with the reflection from the TV. Even cyborgs gotta look good even with all the metal.
they call him Adam smasher for a reason😜
as intimidating as he is, his name makes me laugh every time
I like the idea that Adam Smasher didn't say anything, because he doesn't care and knows nobody can actually do anything to him if they found out
Knowing Smasher, he probably scanned V and Jackie coming in and didn't think they were worth his time. He must have scanned their cyberware and stuff. He didn't engage but didn't back away either until told to do so.
Now, that's scary!!!
For some reason no villain in recent memory scares me like Adam Smasher does. Maybe because I see people like him really existing in the next few hundred years
What about X.A.N.A. and the times he possesses through X.A.N.A.fication?
@@artistanthony1007Bro who the hell are you talking about
"Hmmmm, ah, is that fear you're feeling runner? Yes, I feed on terror, let it grow, let it consume your meat. Feel it, yes feel it, FEEL THE FEAR!"
Maybe he thought it's another f!? K meat?
smasher is programmed to have automatically detected you as soon as his character is brought into the play space. The reason for this is that if you do not hide in the specific place you were meant to, he will not have to gain line-of-sight with your character in order to immediately attack you.
HES JUST STANDING THERE FULL OF BUGS
After Edgerunner, we will be the last face he will ever stared upon.
I'm literally watching this with my jaw on the freaking ground. HOLY. CRAP. HE KNEW THE WHOLE TIME.
Same here
Bro when i was going through my first playthrough, i was like why tf is he staring right at me, it literally sent chills down my spine
"Is he... nononono I'm seeing shit. Hol' up though let me check".
*checks cyberware*
"Highlights enemies that have detected you"
*Inernal screaming*
I dont need it first time I did this I was like he sees he dead on looking right at me his face is pointing right at me how I knew he know I'm in here
He's basically a cyborg, there's no way he's not seeing us there.
a shame this revalation isn't possible anymore, probably the one moment where adam is his scariest.
he can see you and he knows you're not even worth his time
No its still in my game
Adam smasher literally could not give less of a fuck that you're trespassing. Until he's given the order, he's just gonna stand there staring at you. how's it his fault that the arasaka's can't hear you loudly whispering behind the tv? sounds like it's just more work he don't wanna be bothered with. So he just stares, grinning internally at this little private joke he's witnessing.
Adam smasher don't care.
Adam smasher is one of the best aspects of the game.
I wish we saw more of smasher honestly.
if you don't hide where the game says he will kill you (with cutscene) so he knows 1000% that you are there
I admit I never realized it as I was busy watching the father-son meeting. On hind sight it makes a lot of sense for Smasher to see V and Jackie hiding with the biochip.
smasher: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yes
*I SEE MEAT*
MEAT. DETECTED.
@@RandomerThings96 FUCKABLE MEAT
MEAT BICYCLE
Makes sense of how fast the response teams were onto you and how quick Yorinobu was able to pin his crime on you.
I feel like Takemura saw V and Jackie as well, since it says he scanned you, and also he asks Saburo if he wants the relic back
the fact he knows us there and let us stay, that he really knows how to find perfect scapegoat for Yorinobu plotting
They killed Jackie way too early
For Smasher, it is like Christmas came early. 2 perfect fall guys for Saburo’s murder right there without the need to go looking for one.
thats interesting, he knows you are there but doesnt say anything, either he was confident to take you down before you cause trouble or its a sign of betrayal towards arasaka.
That is so terrifying considering we are such a low level in the beginning lmao
that would be hilarious if it were true - could also be a side effect of how this game is programmed...
yea i wonder if they just spawned in the boss version of him and since he is a boss he always detects you in the fight
idk if you guys finished it, but in the end its revealed that Arasaka knew Yorinobu killed Saburo and that it was all an act. Explains why there was never an autopsy done to see what "poison" killed him. If they did they would see damage to his Larynx bruising which would make it clear that he was strangled (one suspect at that point). Smasher was in on it and got promoted
@Edward Calbella eeerrrrr.......... no - not shitty (and if: lazy as "EVERYONE" else): Cyberpunk-specific-clarification: it's like copy paste... example: civilian npc's ALWAYS see you if you hold a weapon and aim -> they start fleeing -> do 360° all npc gone (according to console players... >=+FPS+9000) - that's with smasher: is a boss character, has enemy-npc-perception
If it was a bug or glitch, I'm sure it would be different with everyone. But he stares right at us. It's pretty interesting.
This guy also showed that he used a threat detector chip which automatically highlights the enemy who detected us. And of course adam smasher is highlighted in this scene without the player tag him
how hard life is for introverts, he just wanted to come over and make friends but didn’t know what to say. I hope in the future everything will work out for him and he will have 100 friends.
I've heard it said that this has since been patched out, but I wish they hadn't done that.
Not only does it make sense with all the hardware he's packing, but Adam Smasher choosing to let the player character get away makes him a lot more interesting, and it gives him the sort of depth which would be expected of a Night City Legend.
Characters are always more interesting when they make interesting choices.
