We have been framing window opens with thick thermal breaks for years. Most windows are way less than r 5. That thermal break keeps the cold from going into the wood causing condensation. Plus we seal the thermal breaks. Don't use fiberglass around windows and doors or bay next to them. We usually use spray foam between window and thermal break. Erv are a must. Building air tight number 1 problem is moisture. Common problem moisture areas kitchen, bathroom, basements, and rim joist pockets. Or the top of icf walls. Because masonry loves to wick moisture. And usual place it leaves icf walls is the top.

when i first saw that red impregnated corrugated board for the drainage plane i thought maybe it was Prosoco Fastflash applied with a small tiling V-notch trowel. and now i want to see how that would do!

I would like to see a video on a "window shroud" which is a four-sided metal flashing "box" that surrounds the window and extends out about 4-8 inches beyond the facade. They seem like the perfect flashing detail to completely protect an opening but how to properly connect it to the WRB layer and the window itself?

Being up north I’ve actually built some additions on crawl spaces and had to fight code on the venting of them. So far I’ve been successful getting them passed as you say as long as you dehumidify them. Also I’m working on a house now that they built the walls on a pad that extends out past the outside walls and water has been coming under the floors for years. It has been a nightmare to repair. Eventually I’ll have a video out on my channel about it. I wanted you to cringe when you see the duct work and mold being brought into this home. Worst I’ve ever seen! Thanks for the vids

Look for weather bloc system. Pretty sure RUclips won't like a link in the comments.

I don't think the weatherbloc on the bottom edge of the window is better than constructing a two-stage joint by sealing the interior of the window. This keeps the critical sealing element protected from the elements, whereas the weatherbloc system depends on material set in a more exposed position.

Putting vapor impermeable material on outside of walls does not make sense at least in half of the US but who cares when corporations need to make sales
