    Very well explained and laid out!
    This one and the 2012 MNF called TD (INT) against Seattle will live with me as long as I live. Just inexplicable.

      The drama the packers have given us the last few decades- this drive, record breaking ints in playoffs, 4th and 26, will he leave and he stays again, Fail Mary, the meltdown of 2015 ( that I’m clearly have recovered from since I’m able to think it and type it) - all of this, and the triumphs never linger as long or strong. I think if the 2010 SB run and it’s hardly provokes any feeling, but I think of 4th and 26 and I can’t fall asleep.

      @Audrey You need a little perspective then...

      WHAT are you talking about? How does that ONE call somehow result in FOUR...4 MORE Super Bowls?
      They're going to the NFCCG vs ATL and then if they win, playing the same Broncos team that beat them with a big chunk of their DL gone.

    • @randypagel1711
      @randypagel1711 Год назад

      @@scourge8097 I'm talking about if the Packers moved on and POSSIBLY won the SB, Holmgren would have stayed another year, Ron Wolf retires (as he did the following year), Holmgren would then become GM and HC for years to come. Do you remember the Ray Rhodes disaster? Mike Sherman's pussy calls in the playoffs? Don't you think the Packers, and especially Favre, would have succeeded more with Holmgren? This loss solidified his going to Seattle.

    • @scourge8097
      @scourge8097 Год назад +1

      @Randy Pagel You're making about 9 illogical jumps there.
      1-No, don't remember Sherman's "pussy calls," in the playoffs. That's incredible revisionist History. Favre threw the ball away.
      I remember the Philly game. I remember rushing for ~240 yards...I remember 1st and 10 Favre throwing the ball about 15 yards away from ANY WRer in a Packers uniform and Brian Dawkins picking it off in OT and bringing it back to near FG range.
      Favre throwing 6 picks, 3 for TDs and one inside the 5 when our defense was playing great vs the "Greatest show on turf."
      The Giants game in OT...just as Favre did with the Vikings.
      I'm also not sure how you make these jumps to Holmgren suddenly staying or why you think we're beating Minnesota that year when they beat us soundly twice with Favre throwing for 0 INTs and 3 Picks week 12(and that's if they get past ATL in the Divisional Rd).
      The "pussy call," was...what? Punting on 4th and 1 vs Philly? They also went for it twice on 4th and 1 vs Philly early in the game and didn't convert.
      And THEN they had them in 4th and 26. What do you think Holmgren does to prevent that?
      Either way, this is beyond silly. FOUR more SBs if they call the Rice fumble is...silly.
      You have like 15 different things happening that just didn't come close to the real world.
      And in this scenario...assuming Holmgren, who's already decided to leave by then, if he stays, they drafting Rodgers?
      The problem wasn't Sherman as a coach, it was Sherman as a GM, and Holmgren was no great GM himself.
      So all of it is just WAAAY too far out there...

    I remember having to work a shift at a record store that day. I taped the game doing everything I could to avoid spoilers to no avail. I remember the 49ers seemed so snake bitten against Favre. When I finally saw the game and the Rice fumble, I thought, "I knew there had to be something to it for them to finally beat the Packers".
    Would the Packers have beaten the Dirty Birds? Maybe. I think they would've had a tough time against the 15-1 Vikings who swept them. However, I had thought all season that the Broncos were destined to repeat. TD and them seemed unstoppable that year.

    Let us not forget that in their previous meetings, the Packers got away with MULTIPLE bad calls by the officials. Here are three of them to help refresh your memory. In the NFC Championship Game the previous year between the Packers and 49ers, the dummy Eugene Robinson pushed Brent Jones before he made his interception and returned it 58 yards. Later on before halftime the officials cost the 49ers a TD catch by J.J. Stokes when they ruled he was out of bounds. If you take another look, you see he had one foot already in bounds before being PUSHED out by the Packer defender. In the NFL this is a TOUCHDOWN!!!! Later on in that same game, Gary Plummer #50 recovered a fumble by William Henderson. Clearly Henderson had full possession of the ball and Plummer had a clear path to the end zone, yet the stupid referees ruled it was an incomplete pass. Everyone makes a big deal out of the Jerry Rice fumble. Study the facts, folks!!! Glad the Niners WON THAT GAME ON January 3, 1999 and hopefully Packer fans will get it through their heads that their team are full of CHEATER-HEADS, not CHEESEHEADS!!!! Go Niners!!!!

      Don't forget the Don Beebee play on MNF. The ball SKIPPED OFF THE GROUND into Beebee, then Marquez Pope got a hand on him, making him down. Beebee gets up and runs into the end zone for a TD. The refs missed the incomplete pass and him being touched down. No 49ers fan who saw it has forgotten it. Packers fans can cry me a river.
