Note: Just to clarify on my single card over two card comment. The way that box art works currently is that it exists on the first SD card, but if your roms are on the second SD card, it's a bit of a hassle to scrape those roms, and then have the artwork show up in the right spot on the first SD card. So much so that I chose to make the guide one SD card only. If you don't care about box art, feel free to use two SD cards. Format the second SD card as EXFAT, then create a ROMS directory, and follow the same steps with just adding subfolders for each system. That's all, the only thing on that card will be a ROMS folder with system subfolders and your games inside.
A few more tips: 1) In Retroarch (settings > directories), you can change the BIOS and Saves directory to be on the TF2 card, then copy all your BIOS and saves to that card so that they're all together with the ROMs. This way you don't need to back these up when upgrading OS. You just need to backup artwork and retroarch settings using the backup manager in MuOS. 2) Since in-game save files are compatible with all cores, there's really no reason for it to save them in core-specific folders. In Retroarch (settings>saving) you can disable "sort saves by core" and enable "sort saves by content folder" so all your saves are in a folder with the same name as the console folder.
@Champs859 yeah it can be anywhere on SD2, just make sure retroarch knows where it is. You don't need to create the subfolders, just the main Saves folder.
I've been using the RG35XX H version, which felt super rough around the edges (understandably so). The new muOS, and the changes it brings for the SP, feel tremendously better. Thank you so much for the simple and straightforward guide, Joey!
14:27 The better (and intended) option is to put your ROMs into different folders for different cores. Keep most of your GBA roms in the "GBA" folder and make another "GBA but with mGBA Rumble" folder, then move your ROMs and assign the core for that folder.
3:02 After I select "RG35XX - SP", my device shows a boot screen that says "FIRMWARE UPDATE" and "Updating 'boot.bin' for device!". Then, after a few seconds, it says "Updating 'packages.bin' for device!". Once a few more seconds go by, the screen goes black and the green LED stays on, but nothing happens. I'm using a SanDisk-brand 128GB SD card, and my SD card reader is also UGREEN brand. I've followed the tutorial closely, but I can't get past this step. Any suggestions?
Hey Joey, this is great stuff. However, from what I understand the only way to update MuOS is by performing a fresh install. Is there a way to save all of these settings and apply to new updates? While it is great, I just don’t want to have to do all this every time there’s an update.
HDMI output is completely broken right now. Once you unplug the device from the TV, sound stops working from the SP, even after numerous restarts, and resetting the config. Only fix is to reflash the card...

I followed instructions and Flash the firmware with Rufus. And then in Windows 7 I opened up the SD card after initializing it in the SP device. Then I get the same exact thing I have a big 200 plus gigabyte raw partition at the end of SD card but it can't be assigned a drive letter or formatted

Hi Joey, the muOS download links are broken. Maybe point the link to their official website
Hey, thanks I'll fix it, but this guide is older. I have a newer one on my channel.
Will a 64gb card work okay for the new os? I only have like 10 gbc games on my card
Yep.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds awesome I’m downloading now and gonna get set up. Thanks for your vids
stock sdcard died after first game launch..cannot keep it
Is there an option to search for games?
Not yet no.
The muOS Discord invite link doesn't work anymore, can you post a new one?
You sure? Seems to work: discord.gg/USS5ybVtDz
Found the "latest" tutorial. :) Thought you are from TO but Edmonton? :)
Calgary!
@JoeysRetroHandhelds Montreal!
What's wrong with using a 512 gig micro SD card ?
Nothing. Just isn't 512GB worth of games that work on this.
i just want nesbox theme from Emulation station :( is muOS using emulation station?
It's not.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds do you recommend knuli? or not yet
@@alexisdanel9370 knulli works amazing on mine. also looks better ofcourse... emulation station is always nice.
What about macos?
You might want to add a pin comment on how to fix the screen scaling. I couldn’t figure out how to keep it filled
Hm? Can you give an example?
Thanks man!
You should have mentioned the broken HDMI issue like the others have mentioned. Thanks...
I don't use HDMI, so how was I to know?

Updated secret mode
Updated supporter screen
Bluetooth support ?
Negative.
Whats the benefit of this it seems like a massive downgrade? (New to this)
stay with stock, or back up right as soon as you get it cause you will mess up somewhere.
Message to the MuOS Team: Please incorporate "Information" into "Configuration". This would spare us a more or less useless Main Menu entry. Makes Navigation better.
Great video but you don't need to use shaders on MuOS, the issue requiring shaders are in Stock OS
No, the devs included shaders as it's across all CFW.
Stock RA is a much better experience though
I would very much disagree, but we all have options.
This part was a bit unclear 5:42
To bad you have to start with a fresh install and there wasnt a simple update.
If you're coming from muos already, it's really easy using task commander! Can backup almost everything and restore it. (don't backup config or wifi)
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds Are there instructions to update?
@@iced00777 muOS discord has for what to backup, but it still requires a full flash.
I mean.. you could just copy and paste (manually backup) the whole retroarch folder (maybe another folder or two?)
And keep ROMs on a second card.
Right?
@@Stunnax757 They made a lot of changes to RetroArch between builds, so I would definitely not do that.
Does it still do Bluetooth?
I.. I .. I.. I think...
the using only one sd card puts me abit off
You can use two, just don't suggest it unless you don't care about box art. They have instructions on their website.
