If there is a game that I loved which I see continuously criticized, it's none other than The Outer Worlds. That's fine as it isn't the perfect game, but I adore its writing, world, and RPG systems so much. Due to the progressing slander of the game, I felt it was only proper to roll back the clock to 2019 and remind people why folks such as myself really dig this game.

So I played the outer worlds when it first came out and I was like meh it’s alright. But I just finished a play through with it last night, and I’m happy to report that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I did a board play through the first time so this time I did the “good guy” play through and honestly it was awesome. I also took the time to do the side quests and man some of those side quests were excellent
I really tried to do a chaotic good smooth talking smuggler type
Something about the game turned people off, but I'm not sure exactly what it was. I think people were expecting a more "Fallout New Vegas, but it's 'Firefly'" vibe, but we instead got a more linear story in a specific setting with relatively limited maps to explore. I think the companion choices also turned some people off as they aren't all that exciting at first.
It's unfair to the game, but that's the danger of hyped expectations vs reality.
@@HumanPerson_final I agree and there should’ve been romances
@@BigmanBrando Oh there were romances, just not with the player character. IYKYK
This game will forever hold a special place in my heart. Loved it. I feel like it could be ever better with a bigger budget and team.
We got Outer Wilds 2 on the way and it's now backed by Microsoft so safe to say they now have the funding to make the proper New Vegas spiritual successor the first game fell slightly short of.
Can not wait for the sequel. Finally they will have the time and space to really nail it.
It was good, but certainly felt restrained by low budget
My GOTY for 2019. My favorite aspect of this game had to be companion interactions, they would always butt into conversations and give their opinions or you can choose to involve them as dialogue options and it felt like a real conversation. Wish modern RPG's copied this and gave us variety in dialogue depending on who is accompanying you. Only other game that was comparable was Mass Effect 3.
GOTY? Really?
Dragon age origins often did this, where companions would voice opinions about the subject at hands, snark remarks, or quip to the person you're talking to, and that person will respond in kind etc. you could also be an arse and do companion quests WITHOUT the companions which lead to realistic reactions and consequences you could talk your way out of or even completely end that companion's following with you.
@@bobbyevans8136 Definitely. It's a massively underrrated game, because it's constantly compared to New Vegas or Fallout or whatnot, yet to think that we ended up getting what we did when Obsidian had such a small budget is crazy and very promising for TOW2/Avowed IMO
@@Sytakz I don't care about what it could've been or what the sequel will add. I'm judging the game based on what we got, and we got was mediocre. Mediocre is literally in every review for game for a reason.
@@bobbyevans8136 ok buddy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 elegant way of saying that you were either too ignorant or unintelligent to appreciate the art that is this game
I agree with you on this game 100%. I’m actually over due for another full play through.
In my opinion this game was a little in the average side but it's a great starting point. I'm really excited to see what they can do in the sequel especially now with microsoft money
It's the 3 to a hopefully future, New Vegas, Good base but a bit lack luster compared to what was expected
It's average because the scope was too small, had MSoft bought them out way sooner, we could've gotten an actual AAA years of support title released a little later. Hopefully this is what Avowed will be.
Yeh it was very small if the scope was larger i would have liked it more, plus weapons felt and like toys .
Money doesn't mean shit. Look at amazon with there games or hell even The lord of the rings show. lol
@@mycelia_ow that's a poor excuse. Pillars of eternity was much better than TOW in every way. money isn't going to make the mediocre writing of TOW better
I really loved this game, replay it all the time. One of the things that I really enjoy is the companions talking to each other when your just exploring around. Or even have something extra to say when your talking to an npc.
I enjoyed this game. To me it felt like a Bethesda game with a modern engine and without the bugs. That was all I needed.
I really wish it had more expansions and more content. That's my only gripe.
Likewise - and a lot more charm and humour too. Here's hoping the sequel will have more to do.
Honestly the lack of interesting gear killed it for me. I was so ready to love it but then hours into the game I could see most of it was copy paste space armor and guns and blunt objects. It's got better graphics and engine and everything you'd want but somehow has less guns and armor than new Vegas which is the opposite of what I was expecting.
Now that you mention it, yeah I see it.
Couldn't agree more. Every gun looks the same and most of them are actually the same. Same with the weapons. Such a weird choice. How hard is it to make a few different models? Same with armour.
Yeah that played a part for me not enjoying it. To me combat is almost everything in a game so when that area is lacking I will often drop the game. Shame because the other aspects are quite good.
They made all of the science weapons cool but everything in the over world was just really lacking
Same getting identical sniper rifle for the hundredth time got really boring.
The DLC packs are honestly some of my favorite parts of the game.
Gorgon is a bit eh with the Mapdesign but the high tier Bandits give a nice boost in Wep. Parts and Money.
Eridanos is the Best imo, the only complaint I have here is that I cant have the Full Mystery feeling like on on my first playthrough anymore (now in the 3rd).
Loved this game. My only nitpick is that I wish there had been more planets to explore. Aside from that, it was a blast to play
Which is interesting when you saw there were other planets on the map. You just, couldn't go to them lol
@@gtotheunit91 yeah. I originally thought those locked planets would have been DLC. But even after the DLC’s came out they were still inaccessible.
@@n7hughesgaming223 what planets?
Loved the outer worlds, I'm excited for number 2
Same, had its flaws but hit on a lot of the fun RPG elements I feel have been lacking in the industry.
Almost as much as I want KDC 2. Stalker 2 comes 3rd(but were not gonna see it in awhile,) and then starfield
A sign of a good game is wishing there was more of it. I wish Outer Worlds 2 comes out sooner than later.
I don't understand why people thought this game was mediocre. I still think about my first playthrough on a regular basis. This game had me hooked for a solid week. For me, the best part was the writing for SURE
i loved it but was massively let down by the levelling up system. That's something I'd expect from bethesda cos the dont know what people love about FO
basically every enemy fights exactly the same way and the leveling system is just a straight line? i got into the game but i ended up leaving it, it gets repetitive
The open world aspect killed it for me, I was thinking it would be like fallout
Man- you sound like the type of person who thinks white bread is “spicy”🗿
The same 5 enemies, the same 5 weapons, the same 5 armor, the boring perks, story, and world.... gee, I wonder why.
I love this game so much. It’s small and focused but I think it’s really entertaining and well done. Gunplay blows but that’s not the selling point of the game anyways and I never have high expectations for Bethesda or obsidian gunplay so it’s not a big deal. It’s fun and really replayable
The gameplay just didn’t feel all that great. NV is dated compactor it and it still feels like it holds up better.
That and the worlds really felt bland
I think it was one of the most average games I had played in awhile
I actually Love this game. Didn't give it a chance and started playing it today, it honestly needs a bit of work and I see the second one (if ever released) being more succesful. They just needed a first game and now they have the perfect blueprint.
3rd person would've been nice.
I personally was really let down by the game. It wasn't terrible tbh it was just very average with nothing that really stuck out to me. I like the art style and the concept i think it could just be tackled better for the future game.
It was amazing
It was good.only thing I complaine were the ridiculously long loading times. Every f:ing time you go to your space ship or between planets there is these minute or more lasting loading screens...
Love that you added these things to your rotation of content Matty
I recently played this on Game Pass and enjoyed it enough to purchase both DLCs. Peril on Gorgon was great, but MoE was better than the base game itself.
Really? You know I've actually had a few instances where the DLC was better than the base game. Pokemon Sword being one of them. Anyway I only have the base game and was going to buy one of the DLCs for Outter Worlds but couldn't decide which
The combat is what drags the game down for me personally. The lack of weapon variety, the repetitive loop just becomes tiring to play. That’s a real shame cause the world building, atmosphere, writing, and role playing is very strong man. It’s very on par with what you can expect outta Obsidian. I’m hoping they can spice up the gameplay with the sequel
did u get any of the science weapons or special weapons?
@@snowbummy think I was able to get one of them. Honestly its been so long I can’t remember
@@brandonwooldridge1877 u should play again! I honestly thought they had too many of the unique weapons lol
oh my the combat was awful and I also felt it lacked depth and it played it extremely safe on all fronts.
This game is one of the reasons I wanted to get an Xbox and I loved every minute of it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience that was long enough to satisfy but short enough to stay interesting. The way all of the people and your choices come out at the end was amazing. I loved the companions, the choices, the gunplay (not amazing but decent), the overpowered sniper build. Fantastic game, I gotta give it another play though soon. Thank you Matty sharing this game with us once again 🙏🏻
I never liked it despite wanting to like it. The whole 76 shit definitely made people want a new game to enjoy and I really I think the more recent discontent for this game is due to people becoming less effected by 76's failure. Gameplay is just bad, the writing is pretty meh and the whole game world I just don't care about because everybody in the game is just dumb as fuck. The whole joke about evil corporations gets old within the first opening hours and makes me care less about the people suffering under them because the corporations are dumb and incompetent as well, so why haven't they rebelled against them they only need room temperature IQ to win against the corporations in this game.
So I disagree completely with Matty and think people's overall opinion degrading overtime is completely deserved and a good thing. After all if that sequel is going to be worth playing they need to learn from the failures of this game. I personally think this game doesn't deserve a sequel and a new project would be for the best, but whatever glad the people who enjoyed this bad game had fun.
I’m always surprised about the lukewarm reaction this game got. Maybe people had major AAA expectations? Even most of these comments here are calling it average. I think it’s a fantastic, funny and compact throwback to a type of action RPGs that aren’t made as much anymore. Love the Outer Worlds and I love that you continue to pump this game, Matty.
It had a triple-A price tag at launch and people thought they were the same people who made fallout NV
Everyone likes to be a critic as opposed to a consumer. They refuse to enjoy and try looking for negatives.
What the fuck are you smoking, everyone acted as if this game was the next coming of christ, only now ar people admitting how mediocre this game was. Hell, it's not as good as Fallout 4. It isn't even anywhere close to FNV, the same game they compared themselves to in their own marketing.
@@aaronlaughter6471 Chill out dude. Put the phone down. Go outside. Hug a loved one.
I love the MANY firefly references that are in this game...
I’m surprised people thought this game was so short bc my play through took me like a month total and I did every single quest and collected every item and special weapon I could
I love outer world..wish it was longer..it has potential can't wait for the sequel
I can replay The Outer Worlds with unusual frequency. 😁
The main theme carries heavy inspiration from Mass Effect and I find an awesome sense of adventure through much of the game. The characterizations have so much heart, it's often a joy to interact with them again.
The writing, music, and atmosphere are amazing.
Every that made New Vegas edgy and unpolitically correct was missing in Outer Worlds.
Without Josh Sawer the story and even the weapon choices were missing.
Parvati would've been a joke in NV and it has nothing to do with her sexuality. She's just so fucking cringe.
TOW was boring as hell, imo.
Really liked this game but the uninspired perks and lack of variety in enemies, weapons and armors really hurts the experience.
Also, the towns, cities dont feel alive. The NPC are just there doing nothing. No daily NPC routines or random events at all.
This one isn't even that old at this point so it makes an odd candidate for the "in 2022" series but this will be a great video regardless
Agreed
To me, The Outer Worlds had really really good story telling. There are many memorable pieces to the story that really flush out the world, & I was really pleased with the attention to detail the story writing has that reminded me so much of all the interconnectability in FNV. I really liked the deep rooted psychosis from the shipping company that was artfully woven.
I agree. Also, I I thought they did a really good job with the companions I thought most of them were surprisingly interesting.
Being some one constantly looking looking for and expecting and experience like new Vegas. This was the next best thing
Researching info on Outer Worlds before it came out is how I found this channel......and I'm still here. Good stuff Matty keep up the great work👍👍👍
Its about damn time TOW gets some love seriously have so many fond memories from playing it around release. The first game soundtrack I ever listened to without skips. love it fr.
A separate comment for something that I feel The Outer Worlds deserves more recognition for: when I played this game at launch on my Xbox One X, I never encountered a single bug. NONE. No weird visual bugs, no getting stuck in terrain, no crashes, no save file issues, no AI glitches... Just nothing. (I've read of one known bug relating to downed companions that was discovered and fixed within two months of release, but never experienced it myself.) With Obsidian's track record up until that point, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and replaying the game recently, I've again had no bugs or glitches occur at all.
I know a lack of bugs doesn't make a game great, but it completely changed my expectations for the studio and for this genre of RPG in general. If Obsidian can keep up this kind of polish on their upcoming titles, then it's going to be a lot harder to accept the typical rampant fuckery happening in Fallout or Elder Scrolls.
it's because it doesn't do anything ambitious at all.
@@via_negativa6183: You must be fun at parties.
Im okay with bugs that dont break the game, im more worried about unique character building, weapon variety, world building, and a plethora of valuable side quests. I love obsidian but this didnt reach their potential. I hope they get their hands on the fallout IP again.
I looove the atmosphere of this game and was surprised when they announced the second one can't wait.
I absolutely loved this game. I hope the sequel expands the scope, depth, and length of the game.
Agreed! I hope they really diversify the different corporations, and they could also make the marauders more unique! Instead of just being a broad band of marauders, they could form different types of clans and fans of marauders that you could even interact with. Also, it’s be great if they make the corporates soldiers more unique.
Another thing that should be reworked is the inventory system, and they should make better weapons.
I wanted to like this game bad...and maybe that was my mistake. It wasn't bad...I just wanted it to hook me like oblivion, fallout 3 or NV did. I'm considering giving it another shot
This video made me want to jump back in. I'm also a fan of The Outer Worlds. I love its themes and art style. I can't wait for the sequel.
I love how they maintained the choice element, something Fallout 4 severely lacked aside from the Far Harbour DLC. However, Outer Worlds lacked in other areas, but it's understandable considering Obsidian were struggling financially and didn't have a lot of resources. But can't wait for the sequel!
this is my comfort game, I love replying it and finding stuff i didn't find before and the characters are amazing too
I've been playing through the game again this past week, since I never got around to playing the two DLCs, having not played since it was an EGS exclusive.
Obsidian is one of the best game developers ever for this style of game. I absolutely love everything about it. Want so much more of it. Such a fun game.
If you like Fallout games, you should love this game.
It was alright I appreciate the fact that it didn’t overstay it’s welcome, never felt the urge to play through again, I played before dlcs so maybe I’ll give it another play
The DLCs are pretty good, might be worth a replay.
When I played it I thought the there was a lack of weapon variety, the multiple hubs felt restrictive compared to open world games, the enemy’s weren’t interesting and seemed like there was no gore or it was turned down. Felt like if the game was given more time and bigger it would be good.
That makes both sense. All the things you mentioned seem like design choices, not accidents from time constraints.
@@maerunderemite lack of weapon variety and boring enemy’s to fight was a choice? That’s a bad choice
No gore? are you kidding me? have you not seen enemies heads explode into a bloodbath? or enemies limbs fall off with critical shots? I don't think you played this game.
@@sonysoyboysaremadeoftears.7404 I played. Compared to new Vegas I didnt feel it.
@@mgstickman1754 ok, that's your opinion, many people loved it.
Just finished The Outerworlds for the first time tonight about 15 minutes ago. I played it on PC. I couldn't get into the story. The characters were forgettable. The Unreliable computer was probably the most interesting and enjoyable character to me. The environments, buildings, containers, vending machines, weapons, armor, etc. were all so generic it was genuinely boring. Glad I'm done with the game. I won't be going back to it ever. And this is coming from someone who has gone back to the Fallout games multiple times. The Outerworlds just doesn't hold a candle to the Fallout universe.
Edit: And it doesn't help that it runs like garbage on PC regardless of settings and PC hardware. My rig: CPU is a 5800X3D, 16GB DDR4 3200mhz 14cl timing RAM, NvME, GPU is the RX 6800 XT.
Just want to say this is one of the best western sci-fi RPGs ever made if not the best. The writing, the choice and consequence, the party and character building. It’s perfect, also all the side content is great! Love this underrated masterpiece!
Great commentary over this incredible game Matty! I was beyond hyped for this game when it came out, I preordered it so I could get it day one which I almost never do, I bought the expansion pass day 1 which I never do, and the game delivered on every front for me! I went back to this game a few months ago to finished the second expansion that I hadn't completed yet at the time, and it was great to hope back in and finish off my journey with this game!
The story was average at best, and the world felt empty, dull and dead…
It’s a shame because I was really excited for this Obsidian title.
Personally I think the game gets too much love. It's really not that good.
@@amethystwyvern Same here, and we know why, listen to most reviews of the game, you'll quickly realize they're only praising it to send a message to Bethesda after Fallout 76. With review titles like "This should scare Bethesda", lol.
To me The Outer Worlds was in my top 10 video games of the 8th generation, one of my favorite RPGs, and one of my favorite video games of all time
I miss how dark games can be.. you rent your grave from the company you work for... That is just so dark but hilarious at the same time!
I know it's probably a lame complaint but one of the biggest reasons I dislike this game is the fact I can't play in 3rd person lol. So much of the items you get look cool but can never actually see them during regular gameplay and that kills it for me
It’s a valid complaint, especially for all the time you spend setting up the look of your character. I liked that Fallout 4, for example, gave you a choice between 1st and 3rd person.
Yeah the lack of a third person mode was a real shame and it's one of the things I dislike about the game.
🎼 it’s not the best choice 🎶
🎼 it’s Spacer’s Choice! 🎶
I blame a lot of the recent hate for Outer Worlds on Saltfactory's video panning the game for the cardinal sin of...meeting everyone's expectations. Honestly, I'm burnt out on those longform essays that lambast a game for falling short of being the literal second coming of Christ.
Outer Worlds to me is exactly what I wanted, a game that met all expectations and I had a lot of fun with. Not something I sank 100+ hours in, but then again I didn't expect to sink hundreds of hours in it. Story was great, gameplay was fine, no bugs, and it was what video games should be, fun.
Dude these video essays, sophisticated in presentation are really just childish and utopian rants. Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. Just like the video games these idiots cream over.
Why is every criticism taken as hate lately? You can criticize without hating on something. Many people like expressed the how mediocre and soulless it feels, and it was proven over time, it was quickly forgotten.
@@lahcenebelbachir7929 because the going trend on RUclips critique videos isn't to fairly critique it, it's to tar and feather it because hyperbolic spectacle gets clicks, not level headed pros and cons. Is outer worlds flawed? Yeah. But superlatives like soulless and mediocre are terms of contempt, not critique.
@@quiaudetvincit3400 And what did the positive reviews do? They only compared it to Fallout, and wanted to send a message to Bethesda. With titles like "This should scare Berhesda".
The narrative, world and lore of this gane are average, they don't manage grab your attention, this game does everything OK and nothing great, the praise for this game is bizarre.
I appreciate you shining a light on this game. For me its up there with the big western arpgs like witcher mass effect fallout. One of my favourite games. Its not really the same situation but i think the same about outer worlds being compared to fallout new vegas and cyberpunk being compared to witcher 3 led to people not looking at it as its own thing. Like now the hysteria surrounding bugs in cyberpunk have been simmered and the anime is out people are really loving it. Hopefully when the outer worlds 2 drops people will go back and resdiscover this for what it is: an extremely fun game
Matty I watch every single Retro Rebound and Mrmattyplays video to it's full completion! And have been a channel subscriber for over 5 years now. Keep up the good work, your a role model Bethesda fan!!!
I loved this game.
I put all my skill points in melee, Range, dialogue and stealth, I was an excellent fighter, and great negotiator, who was good at cracking safes.
I finish the game within 7 days
It's not just you Matty. TOW is an amazing adventure.
I can't wait for the "So I tried playing ELDEN RING In 2022..." video
Here in Massachusetts on The Cape there is a company called Halcyon, I laugh everytime I drive by it.
I really enjoyed this game. The dialogue is one of my favorite things. I need to revisit it since the one time that I played it was when it first released.
I absolutely loved The Outer Worlds. Fun gameplay, great characters, engaging DLC, and bonkers in a great way. Parvotti is my favorite game companion, I loved setting her up on her date, and traveled with her and Nyoka almost exclusively. And I agree, the music was fantastic. I still listen to the score on shuffle. Will definitely play it again.
I Would say that on release and compared to how 76 was looking at the time, the outer worlds was a godsend. I play like through half the game in no time but now when 76 is actually playable and you can enjoy it with friends…I don’t really know but the outer worlds will for sure have a place in my heart. And I sure hope that the second one will be as good or even better than the first one!
Best thing about Parvatis story arc is setting up the date for her then executing said date in front of her.
I loved it when it came out. Explored everything , maxed out everything, 100% completely. It filled the whole for the rpgs that was so empty at the time. Only issue was the story was too short and the game itself was too small but that’s not enough to forsake it. Def 9/10 for sure.
I loved outer worlds but the replay ability wasn’t there for me.
I really liked this Game I have played it 4 times now: first as a Hans Solo like character, then a second play through on super nova, the famous Obsidian low intelligence run and then my genocide run. I Loved the characters and writing for the most part except for Parvati's side quest (I'm just not in to the match making) and Vicar Max's story was kind of anti climatic but all of them were fun to be around and I love when they chimed into a conversation. And Gun play was very well done for an RPG and the guns were varied with the upgrade system push forward the progression and with the flaw system really added a layer of depth especially on the super nova difficulty. Though I did have fun with the game, there are some areas of improvement: The AI was very basic usually resulting to cover shooting or rush tactics, While they were entertaining their were far to many loading screens, A lot of the choices felt hollow like there weren't any real consequences to them, there was a lot of repeated dialog some it didn't matter which option i chose they would default to a preset response, I also think they were a little to liberal with the skill point system and i think they should have capped you at 30 before forcing to to pick a sub skill to level up and finally the perks were just unimaginative and kind of lame.
People always campared this to Fallout when this is more like KOTOR in a smaller scope but was more focused
Played through TOW four times - twice w/expansions, once with a “dumb” character, triggering the ‘secret ending’ 😂
Words cannot describe how special this game is to me. Like Firefly-meets-Futurama in a tight action RPG. The absurdist humor, the varied, viable play styles, the companions, plot lines and writing…I can’t say enough about it!
TOW certainly isn’t ‘the best’ at any one thing, but the whole is absolutely greater than the sum of its parts. It has so much heart and personality…there really isn’t anything else like it on the market.
I ❤ The Outer Worlds!
Always great content Matty! Definitely enjoying these short retrospectives.
I like it. Haven't finished it yet. I bought the dlcs and so making my way through that, but busy enough that this game has lasted me quite some time. I always enjoy jumping back into the world.
The game is really good I won't lie but for some reason I feel like it miss a few things to keep me hooked to the game
This was a depressingly average game for me personally and the fact that Obsidian was clearly moving on from their incredile Pillars games to this crap was depressing. Ohwell they wanted to change things up from Isometric so can't do much I guess Avowed is in Pillars universe but if it follows a blueprint like OW it will be just as shallow to me and play it just as safe.
I got The Outer Worlds a couple of months ago and I love it, it also gives me partial Firefly vibes.
I enjoyed it. My only complaint was that the world felt more like small dioramas rather than living, breathing locations of any kind. More like isometric CRPG locations played in first person. I get why it was smaller scale, and in some ways it made things more intimate, more involved and less saddled with filler and dead air... but still, there has to be a balance between too big and too small.
Still, no reason to hate on it.
The great canvas shortage was the worst
2019: Oh no my canvas bag, it’s nylon.
2020: 🇨🇳👴🏻🌬😷
@@kylevernon There is no such thing as a coincidence.
The DLC for this game showed a great future for this Franchise, especially the second one :)
I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Where it fell apart was in the level cap. So just after I started Peril on Gorgon (which I did second, after the Murder DLC), I was at max level cap. Suddenly, exploring and doing stuff had no XP reward, thus I found myself no longer wanting to explore and/or hunt down things to slaughter. My game play kinda switched to, "Lets get this over with since I can't level up any more."
Also, I have never felt a desire to return to this game, even though I liked it. Granted, I have other stuff on my plate, but even after playing Skyrim three times, I sometimes want to go back and replay that. And with Borderlands 3, I'm playing two characters in parallel.
It was a fun AA game, but I wouldn't rank it very highly. Enjoyable but it didn't have near enough content to hold more water against titles like Fallout NV/4 or Skyrim.
We like the positive videos! Much rather you talk about a game you love instead of shitting on something just for content
Oddly, I've just been playing this! I'm really enjoying it a lot more now than I did when it came out, and a big part of that is that I'm on an Xbox Series X now. The reduced load times make a much bigger difference than I ever thought they would, and with a silky smooth framerate at 4K, it's a lot easier to appreciate how colorful and beautiful the game is.
There are plenty of things I'd love to see improved for the sequel, especially when it comes to inventory management and combat. That said, it's still one of the best games out there when it comes to player freedom and allowing the game and story to react to your choices, and I can't wait to see what they do with the sequel.
That's how it was for me too. I stopped playing around monarch. But when I came back I couldn't put it down. It really picks up after monarch.
I'm in my second playthrough now. Have not played the game since my first playthrough back then. I love it! It's so cool to be back 🙂
Wonderful video. Subbed. Been watching your starfield reviews too
I never finished it. It got very boring and one note. I lost interest in the story and didn’t really care much about the characters. It felt like they really over milked the whole “corporations bad” to the point of making them comically incompetent. They felt less like villains worth defeating and more like mundane tasks to complete.
The gameplay got boring really. I just got bored with it really in general and I feel somewhat bad because it had good intentions behind it. Just need something with better writing, more choice, and better gameplay. Maybe the Sequel will really ramp things up.
Really liked your intro, good stuff!
This game is now in my list of all time favorites. My top 2 video game franchises are Bioshock and Mass Effect. This game is a combination of Fallout + Mass Effect + a little of that OG Bioshock Flair. It's exactly what I needed when it came out. I always replay Mass effect and bioshock games when I'm feeling depressed and now this game makes that list. That being said, we want more!
Starting from around 7:30, the frame rate is choppy, like mid 20s fps and there's a bit of a stutter. It kept on like this. This game runs buttery smooth at 60 fps on Series X. Just wondering why this was happening?
I consistently come back to the outer worlds, im playing through the dlc now, I really adore this game, it has one of my favorite art styles, and the companions are well written and have fun interactions, especially the call outs in combat. Great videos man!
I decided to play a character with low strength, low dexterity and low intelligence. Low strength and dexterity I chalk up to the physical atrophy of 70 years in cryo and the awakening through Phineas experimental solution.
The detrimental effects can partially or nearly fully mitigated by perks, and as I play Spacer's Choice Edition, I have the possible levels to get some perks I would skip over on a standard Edition.
The low intel is because I wanted the dumb options, even when I'm not using them.
This also frees an additional 3 stat points, giving me 9 stat points to distribute and allowing me to get Perception, Charisma and Temperament to very high. Perception balances out the combat related negatives of intelligence and Charisma andnTemperament are vital for getting the full potential of my companions.
Now this is a game I’ve been waiting for you to review, absolutely fell in love with this game. It truly is fallout 4 in space and done so well
My only problem with the game is that I can't play it without my character becoming Malcolm Reynolds
Haha so true.
What do you mean by that
@@snyper105 Do you know who Malcolm Reynolds is?
I loved this game and completed both the main expansions. On my play through I went to Byzantium before Monarch and tried to infiltrate the Board.
I love the Outerworlds. It’s a terrific game with hilarious writing.
i loved this game one of my favorite of all time

Algo finally led me to a true RPG fan's channel. Love this fucking game
Private Kimball was shook 12:37
The much of the rpg audience want every game to be the greatest thing ever made and when they came with that expectations this game will disappoint but your right this is a solid AA game
A thoroughly wonderful Firefly rpg in spirit if not in name, been too long since I re-replayed it.
I've played it three times myself. Its quite literally the funniest game I've ever played.
Played though Outer worlds on steam deck this year and it was absolutely fantastic
I dropped TOW after about a 20 hours when it first came out. Jumped back in recently as I was craving a First Person RPG and I got super immersed and LOVED IT. The DLCs added just enough and the game length was spot on to the point I was never bored but also didn't feel short handed. It's surprisingly good if you give it a chance.
