Hi, I want to try the Outer Worlds, but I cannot choose between the original and this one. Did the fix the spacer's choice edition or it still has the same issues?
I got it on epic games for free like a week ago(im guessing you missed it :( ) and it runs good, im using rx 5700xt and have most settings in high with some medium. Some fluctuactions here and there but overall fps hasnt bothered me
I didn't buy it or dlc first time around. I bought this for series x. I haven't noticed the frame rate drops or AI malfunctions. Everything looks great and feels great. One thing that is off though, are many boxes are empty when going to loot them... Some bodies are empty as well. I can wander off a bit, and when I come back, the loot would have generated. Hopefully this is fixed in the patch. That said, I'm having a blast playing again and look forward to the patch.

Guys this is a 4 month old review. If you go to the steam reviews now most recent "Mostly positive" and reviews are saying it looks like the game was patched up to fix the issues.
Me personally I play on Xbox Series S and I compared the original with the spacers choice edition and it was definitely an upgrade in my opinion, I did have a few small problems but over all it was great for me but that’s just my opinion.
It's probably Shader caching. Which is independent of the power of you machine, even the best graphics cards can't stop stuttering. Usually once the cache is build, in example after you see some object for the first time and the shader cache kicks in, then after it it is cached. Meaning it won't stutter for this particular item anymore. If Shader cache is the problem here, then playing same section another time won't stutter.
steam reviews say that after the 1.4 update the stuttering issues have been corrected and it is actually a playable game now. im looking forward to getting it from humble bundle at the end of the month (july 2023)
I didn't love the game as much as you did, but I did like it. The thing is I remember the very first Fallout game and.......I kinda felt the same way about it as I do about The Outer Worlds, it was good but not as good as its premise had me hoping. But then Fallout 2 came out and it was everything I had dreamed Fallout 1 would be. Fallout 1 laid the groundwork, it built a solid foundation for the IP and set up the universe the player would inhabit. With all that out of the way the second game came out swinging and it hit big time. More than a few folks at Obsidian came from that development background. They laid the groundwork with The Outer Worlds and I am hoping the sequel comes out swinging now there is a solid foundation established. Anyway, that was a bit of a sidetrack considering this video was about the Spacers Choice edition. Pity its a shitshow, glad this popped up in my feed and I dodged a bullet here. I mean maybe they can fix it, but I already have the original game and its DLC and it looks fine, the whole game is just fine the way it is. Going to just wait now and anticipate the release of the sequel.
Haven’t played Spacer’s Choice Ed. so can’t speak to performance - but where I disagree with Matty fundamentally is the level cap. If you play through this as a completionist, it’s quite easy to max your level partway through the first DLC without finishing the main story…which means that finishing the second DLC and main story becomes a matter of devotion, not progression - which for an RPG isn’t cool. Frankly the low level cap was my least favorite part of the game. If they clean up the performance and wonky AI stuff with some patches, I’ll definitely pick this up! 🤘
I liked this game, in its time...and a HELL of a soundtrack. They're working on "The Outer Worlds 2". The trailer is here on YT. Thanks for your videos, Mr. Matty!
I play with a ryzen 7700x and 3080 ti with 32gb memory and my system was running at about 30-40fps while playing The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice Edition and I have it at 4k and the other settings are mostly at high to ultra settings except shadows but what I found is that if you to to Settings-> Graphics there is an option called 3D resolution. I turned it down to 80% and now my game runs at 60fps or sometimes higher. Hopefully this helps :)
I see what you did there. Balancing the negative review with the uber nostalgic kingdom hearts tune in the background to get our brains all confused as to what we are supposed to be feeling. Surprised I didn't have a stroke.

Thanks for jumping on the grenade on this one. I was in a wait and see mode about upgrading for this very reason. I also fall the camp of people who loved Fallout New Vegas but only liked this game. I played it and all the dlc but don't see a reason to go back.
Upgraded for £5 but never played the original or downloads though I bought them on release sale a while back. The Series X seems fine so-far about 3hrs in . FPS is not an issue, it does look better too.
Hi Matty. I played outer worlds the vanilla and though it was to easy, but What i can hear from you, the dlc makes it a better game. If i should give it a shot more and buy the dlc, What build would you recoment? Persanly i always liked the science weapons.
Ignoring the technical issues and current complaints, one thing that upset me was realizing there was no physical edition. In a world of digital-only releases and games not being on-disc, we're really off to a great start this gen for us game collectors lol.
Supernova is only hard early on, once you level up it starts to become easy again because a lot of the good perks are very early on, if you have companions just focus on grabbing perks that make them better and if your going a solo run, just grab the perks that make you a god when you have no companions, that's what I did lol
Does anyone know what song Matty has playing in the background around the 4 minute mark? It sounds so familiar and it's driving me crazy that I can't think of it.
Awesome game. No need for this version, since the OG version with DLCs runs perfect 60FPS on the Series X. My only complaint about the Outer Worlds is that it isn't truly "open world".
I bought the $10 upgrade, and I really didn’t have any issues past the first round of combat I went through. Just a tiny bit of frame rate drop, but it went away pretty quickly. Nothing like the stuttering he showed and definitely no problems with the AI. And I’m only on the Xbox Series S. And I have to say that if he thinks the combat is that easy, he’s clearly not playing on hard difficulty. That’s what I play it on, and while it’s not dark souls level hard it’s definitely not easy. Honestly I’m glad I paid the $10, and I have no regrets.
I bought it about a week ago. Been working great after the most recent updates! I've been enjoying it alot. Didn't notice any AI issues since most game have their goofy AI moments lol. Also the environments look a good bit better IMO. The faces come down to preference I think. I looked at comparisons and didn't really think either looked better. Anyone considering spacers choice id recomend giving it a try, also FSR 2.O doesn't look bad and really helps performance (I keep it off on my 3080 tho). Hope some new people can enjoy the game, new or old!
Private Division also published Kerbal Space Program 2, made by a different, in-house developer from the original, with apparently terrible bugs and performance.
I've played through the main game and most of Gorgon on my series X. I can't say performance has been perfect, but the frame rate has been pretty consistent with occasional stutters. It definitely looks better than the original game on xbox. I did find the AI enemies standing still a few times though. So seems like it might be a bigger issue on PC.
This is sad cause I played the switch version when that came out, and it was so muddy but I still pushed through the main game and enjoyed the experience and the story. So naturally after getting a Series S, and hearing about this upgrade I was ready to dive in with the “best version” of the game and finally play the DLC. Sadly, I get to wait longer for patches on this version before I drop any money on a broken product. Unless I hear otherwise about the Series S/X version I suppose
Y'know what would make it an instant _Buy now?_ MODS. Fallout 4 and Skyrim have mods on Xbox, Games like Conan Exiles, Valheim, Bannerlord 2, Outer Worlds, ALL would be made better, and there're already pre-existing modding communities on PC. Like I still keep going back to Skyrim and Fallout even now!
The character model change reminds me of the Fallout Character Overhaul mod for New Vegas. Sure it's more detailed, but it really doesn't look any better.
Can we all just admit that the Outer Worlds was Mid and that the people currently working at Obsidian had nothing to do with the success with New Vegas. Essentially the same thing what happens to Pixar.
I dunno about the rank and file or guys that were slightly lower on the totem pole but the head guys are still there Urquhart, Sawyer, Cain and Boyarsky, Avellone is the only notable absence. It's why it's a headscratcher this game was aggressively average.
So sad hearing this.... Does anyone know if things got better with patches? I just got spacers choice in my humble choice subscription and I've been wanting to play Outer Worlds for awhile....
Do you like Bethesda type RPGs? I am asking because I want to play this but I have so often read that fans of Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and the like think it is mediocre at best
@Jason Welsh it's a really good game if u have gamepass. I played all fallout and enjoyed myself with the outer worlds. So much I bought all the dlc which were really good too. Give it a try l!
To me this just the game to knock the proverbial dust off for obsidian. I was just looking for if they still could make an rpg with choice and in that aspect they did pretty good
The big draw for me with this upgrade was the dynamic weather, but I haven't seen anyone mention anything about it. I'm guessing it's just as disappointing as the rest of the package?
Just wondering if Matty, or anyone else has played Shadowrun Returns. I'm 40 and somehow missed this excellent game first time around. Yup, the graphics are dated and the audio (what there is of it) extends little beyond some admittedly atmospheric music but DAMN... What an awesome job it does with it's writing, story, world building. Despite its age it sucked me in and I couldn't stop. Gave me so much enjoyment, way more than recent big hitters but maybe that's just me showing my age. It really blew my mind how good it was and the tactical x-com combat was great. Hugely recommended on gamepass. 14hrs of tight awesome gameplay and story with no modern bloat or busy work.
@@markrobinson7975 I'd love that too, HBS is currently doing other projects and the Shadowrun IP isn't very popular, before these games Shadowrun only had 3 video games for it. 2 were old 90s games one on SNES the other on Sega Genesis, the third was an awful Counter Strike clone that did so bad it killed the IP when Microsoft had the licensing rights for it.

Good saving yourself money
@@yaboirichard591 True. 👍
Is outer worlds worth playing? I love new vegas and need a similar game to get my fix.
Im pretty sure ots from Kingdom Hearts
@YazzPott Oh yeah you're right! Thanks
Awesome game. No need for this version, since the OG version with DLCs runs perfect 60FPS on the Series X. My only complaint about the Outer Worlds is that it isn't truly "open world".
I love the game too. So bright and colourful. Great story.
By the way, you can get the $10 upgrade with Game Pass as long as you’ve bought the DLC season pass you don’t have to buy the base game
This dude is extremely to positive to his favorite company in the world
I bought it about a week ago.
Can't believe xbox own the developers of outerworlds and its DLC but cannot put this version on gamepass. Ridiculous
What is the music in this video from its late and I can’t remember 😢
Well I guess the money that would have gone to this "upgrade" can go to Sea Salt Ice Cream instead
Can’t you already play the outer worlds at 60 FPS on the PS5 via backwards compatibility?
what is that background music in this video?
sounds like legend of mana or something
The kingdom hearts background music brought back so many good memories
Should the final verdict come before any patches or final “ updates “
love the twilight town theme in the background
Private Division also published Kerbal Space Program 2, made by a different, in-house developer from the original, with apparently terrible bugs and performance.
The background music is very distracting and far too loud.
Does anyone know what the background music is in the first 3 minutes before it goes into the Kingdom Hearts music? It sounds really familiar.
Its Fallout dawg
Just play the old version on Series x/s. The only upgrade you need is a hardware upgrade.
I totally forgot this game existed.
I don't know why there's Kingdom Hearts 2 music playing the background, but it certainly made me keep watching the video
Nice Twilight Town theme in the background there 😉
This version is free on PlayStation Plus. Is it worth it for someone that never played the original?
im playing this 6 months later , i got the spacers choice edition , it runs awful . it crashes the amd drivers . i don't get it
The character model change reminds me of the Fallout Character Overhaul mod for New Vegas. Sure it's more detailed, but it really doesn't look any better.
Great taste with the kingdom hearts music Mr. Matty!!!! Kh2 has my favorite ost 🙌
They should be held accountable for lying to the ones that pay their bills. Great video. Thank you.
That obsidian seal of quality.
Only putting out better under Xbox.
Can we all just admit that the Outer Worlds was Mid and that the people currently working at Obsidian had nothing to do with the success with New Vegas. Essentially the same thing what happens to Pixar.
Preach
I dunno about the rank and file or guys that were slightly lower on the totem pole but the head guys are still there Urquhart, Sawyer, Cain and Boyarsky, Avellone is the only notable absence. It's why it's a headscratcher this game was aggressively average.
So sad hearing this.... Does anyone know if things got better with patches? I just got spacers choice in my humble choice subscription and I've been wanting to play Outer Worlds for awhile....
Obsidian Entertainment is Amazing, They make super nice games with high quality.
Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast - Ron Burgundy.
Is the spacers choice edition getting a physical release?
no
Idk about this edition but this game is so amazing, I can’t wait for #2
Do you like Bethesda type RPGs? I am asking because I want to play this but I have so often read that fans of Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and the like think it is mediocre at best
@Jason Welsh it's a really good game if u have gamepass. I played all fallout and enjoyed myself with the outer worlds. So much I bought all the dlc which were really good too. Give it a try l!
Charging full price for a nearly 4 year old game is insane. I know it has visual upgrades and includes the dlc, but it shouldn't be more than 40$
Sony has entered the chat lol
I hear you, but companies keep doing it and getting away with it because they know people will still buy it at full price.
Today is a sad day for outer worlds :(
These years have been sad for pc gamers
@@megamanx1291 i completely agree
You'll really enjoy Dragonfall, better in every single way. Hong Kong is good too. We need more Shadowrun games for sure!
@@CrazyxEnigma Just started Dragonfall... Would love a new game built for modern hardware but I'm loving them so far.
Ironically, the "Spacer's Choice" title is fitting
