I promise you it's more fun to engage "properly" with it than just exploit it cuz its hard in the beginning and only using swords cuz they is cool or whatever.
I feel this is more or less what sooooo many people did with the whole game when it came and why people hated on it so much, "I can't do anything in this game, it sucks!" but they never really tried to play the game as it is just as play it as they expect it to play/how other games are played.
I think that's why i have seen so many videos like this where people come back to it and actually try to play it as it is and they love it even with its issues, im not saying its for everyone but outside of games that has gotten large overhauls and did not function at all on release i haven't really seen another game so hated turn around with not much change at all and people loving it later.

Personally, as much as my opinion doesn't matter, I really enjoy the combat mechanic until you're fighting more than 2 opponents.
With 2 I feel it's still more than manageable to position the enemies where you want and you can easily change which target you attack and when. It's when dodging can be more useful than parrying.
However, it's when there's 3 or more I feel it's the lock on mechanic that really holds you back and not so much to combat itself. It's much more difficult to position yourself well and choose which target you're going to lock onto.

I mostly agree. I do think that even though there is the DLC logo, it should be made much more clear that you are about to start something as long as you are. Reloading is the most logical, but I do get that there is a good chance that they didnt have a save that was very close to that point, so it could result in a lot of lost progress. Not only that but also a HUGE thing i see very few people talk about in larger discussion on the combat and how weak you can feel is that people seem to mostly use swords, and swords are the WORST option vs heavily armoured enemies.
When i play i always bring a sword and a mace, you can go for axe to have something in between but the difference the right weapon makes is huge.

As a KCD fanatic - and Souls veteran - the combat is beautiful and intuitive if you level up. You have to train at it, but that’s kind of how learning a skill works… Why would a random peasant automatically be god-tier at swordsmanship and immediately start cracking the skulls of experienced knights?
Also, it literally feels like sword fighting with the direction-based attacks and blocks. It felt very intuitive and way more fluid compared to Mount and Blade or Skyrim.

I’m on my third play through and never completely finished. Once Henry levels up enough where everything starts to feel too easy, I find myself missing the challenge of surviving as early, useless Henry and I end up starting over. My first half-play through was in normal mode and was only good for basic tutorial. That gave way to hardcore mode using a couple of the least inconvenient de-buffs. In the end, I quickly realized that I needed to start over with as many of the de-buffs as I felt I could stand. Brittle Bones, Bleeding, Tapeworm, and Numbskull should be automatic for hardcore mode. I only opted to avoid The Shakes and Sleepwalking to prevent unnecessary time wasting while the other de-buffs seem to bring the game closer to reality. This is what has me worried about KCD2. We can’t go back to peasant Henry, so are we going to be more like Bohemian Witcher?

Commenting here so it's more likely you see it I just watched your BG3 video where you gushed over classic Bethesda and I have to recommend two mods. First is Enderal which is a skyrim mod that is a complete game a little smaller than skyrim though large enough for me to put in over 60 hours.
The next is Fallout London though I'd recommend playing it second since it just came out and is still _very_ buggy. It's also slightly smaller than fallout 4 but on the same level as Enderal so expect another 60+ hours easily.
Both of these fan made projects have imo far better writing and characters than all the recent Bethesda games to the point that I was pretty blown away by what fans have accomplished and as a side effect I'm very worried about the quality of future Bethesda projects if Starfield wasn't enough of a bad sign.

There is a hidden easy mode in the game. But it take a lot of grinding. Essentially, what you want to do is stay in the tutorial area. Pickpocket everyone, pick up a bunch of plants, steal a bunch of stuff and put in in your parent's house chest. Once you do that for multiple hours, essentially exploiting the entire tutorial section, you can start the story and then once free roam is available, go back and take everything from the chest and sell it. There's a more detailed version of this explanation if you look up how to start in KCD perfectly either on RUclips or the internet, as this is kind of common knowledge up to this point.
P s. This DOES NOT take away the experience of KCD. You'll still be a noob, especially in combat and reading/alchemy (among other things) but it will give you a good boosting start where you have lots of money, and some stealth/general skills. It makes the starting area for anyone who is new to the game a lot more easy, and therefore, satisfying. But... you have to grind sadly. Put on a podcast, and go at it for a few hours until you feel like you wiped out the tutorial area for all its worth.
    Cheers.

I wanted to be a noble knight not really a sneaky scoundrel. Especially on my first playthrough. Sadly without a guide I don’t think that’s possible. This is very much a you should let it happen game and the creators definitely want to lead you down a pretty intentional path. I forgot how restricting that feels in games.

I disagree if I'm honest. The game is very open even in its trailers that you're starting as a peasant who knows nothing and the game makes you build every skill from the ground up. Henry is a noble knight, just not the stereotypical one. He is able to be a part of the nobility with how important he is, but he feels much more realistic by holding onto those other aspects of his development.

The first thing the game asks you to do is steal something for the miller and he’s already trying to teach you how to pick locks. Then when you tell the guy you’re not interested he tries to make you feel like shit for not wanting to rob someone. I was immediately turned off by that being the first thing offered to you in a knights game. I was like what am I playing thief ? If I was interested in a ton of play throughs I would have a sneaky play in mind and maybe a chaotic run but I’m not sure I want to put in the time for a single run through. I’m also a little frustrated in the fact that this game masks its speech options and often the dialogue option you pick can differ than how it comes out.

Lock picking; Mouse Dpi setting are critical ive found in this game, to much DPi give it the Jitters when picking a lock(which is bad)... find that 'Fine Line' in your mouse Dpi, and lockpicking is FUN. Took me a bit of time to find it, but WOW, it improved the other game plays in other game also... didn't know my mouse was out of adjustment badly, just thought it was a ME thing.

    MAGA Make America Godly Again...
One of my favorite lines comes from Theresa when she "rescues" Henry in Skalitz.
I do love this game and am eagerly looking forward to KCD 2.

Someone else posted in a video about how to resolve the lockpicks with controller issue and their solution was rather than using your thumb alone to guide, which is super fiddly, instead rest the controller on your knee and hold the thumbstick between your thumb and forefinger, this affords you a lot more control when it comes to maintaining the rotation with the lock.

Another wonderful review. A lot of passionate gaming fans of KCD exist from what I can tell and I'm one of them.

Its also about using weapons right. Hitting someone on the head with a sword who is wearing a strolng helmet isnt going to do much but using a mace is completely different. Paying attention to what someone is wearing and have the right tool and strategy to deal with that is necessary.

KCD has some of the most immersive character development mechanics ever made and is one of the best roleplay experiences of it's time. I have high hopes for KCD2.

Hype train! Not seeing it getting into the mentioned games by year end. Light No Fire, GTA6, Monster Hunter wilds, Crimson Desert, and the dark horse might be Dune Awakening.

For me it’s a top three game of all time. It’s absolutely amazing and at the start it’s tough and people that ain’t good at gaming can’t handle it. I really found the first 6 hours tough but once I get to grips with the combat is better than any other in any game by a mile

For me I probably have it somewhere in the 5-8 range but honestly I could see that grow over time as I find more and more appreciation for it and the sequel flashes the world and characters out even more!

i like the combat system to some extent but its def kinda broken, cuz i struggle with making combos or hiting opponents without them slow mo blocking it, and then i get pissed off and start button mashing and end up winning quickly. like black peter ambush, I did that like 8 times, all trying to be perfect and time blocks and do all this. then after all those tries i got pissed off and just button mashed and beat him. after all these hours i still don't feel like I understand the combat system. i mean i think i do, but how it plays out is different from that. i do find it very rewarding though to win a hard fought battle
