Wall-E PS3 was the first game I ever played, one of my earliest memories is me coming down from my room to find my parents trying to beat the very first but where it hits you with a meteorite and then just doing it myself (I think I was like 2 or 3 lmao), good to see it hasn't been completely forgotten and there is at least 1 20-minute video essay about it online :)

There was also the DS made by Helixe which has long since been defunct. There's almost no platforming in that game and you can only use cubes to get to other platforms or push enemies off the platform. One thing about the DS version I always loved though is that the graphics take more of a stylized approach just like in the advertisements.

Wow! An actual in-depth review of a WALL-E video game! I’ve been a hardcore fan of WALLE for as long as I can remember and i played the game on Wii, DS, recently PC and the fking V-SMILE! and I played the hell out of those games.
Wii has a special place in my heart, is it a good game? No. But booting up the game and playing the main story is soo nostalgic, as a kid I got stuck in the sandstorm level and soon that one axiom Eve level and had to look up a YT tutorial on how to beat it (when I was 11) I was so good at the game where I had a “three life challenge” and even last summer before college, I attempted to 100% the game. It’s a game no one knows about and that’s what I love about it, unique and very nostalgic.
I played DS as well and I think it’s worth making a video on! The art style is really something else and for a DS movie-tie in game I think it looks great and i believe it follows the main story the best. Mechanics are simple and repetitive but can be challenging, especially in its later half. I have a huge soft spot for the game and I would say is arguably the “best” WALLE game!
    Man I loooove WALL-E

As someone who only played the wii version in their childhood, I only just now found out that the levels in the wii version are the same as the PS3 and Xbox, except for the fact that they're split up into 3 parts, (due to processing limitations of the wii as discussed in the video)
I just watched a playthrough of the Xbox version today and seeing the "levels" seamlessly transition into each other is so jarring to me after having played the wii version so many times

  • @Valois_Kressa-Heller
    @Valois_Kressa-Heller 8 месяцев назад +4

Oh, dear. What an immense nostalgia trip this was.
I remember both the Heavy Iron and the Asobo versions of Wall-E as vividly as ever, despite it now being nearly 16 years ago since I got them, and I still have both of them in my home all these years later.
It was a magical experience, because, for the then 8-year-old me, those were (and still are) literally the first ever video games I had ever played. Therefore, I am in no position to rate or review them; I am wholly blinded by the nostalgia. Even the barebones parts where you play as EVE, I was wholly mesmerised by them. The sheer freedom of movement was unlike anything I had known up to that point, all the janky and strained physics notwithstanding.
Yes, the games really show their age. Yes, they deviate from the movie a fair bit. Yes, they are not the greatest thing ever. But that is fine. From where I stand now, and where I stood back then, that was all fine, for I had absolutely nothing to compare them to then, and now the nostalgia shields them from any such thing. I look back at them most fondly.
But, hooh boy, do I still remember how distraught and bewildered I was when the game just suddenly spiralled into a FPS game, with Wall-E under your control going on a one-bot-army rampage with EVE's arm cannon. All throughout, I just kept wondering "What the hell is this!? This is not even remotely what happened in the movie!"
I could see that both games had various odd moments and off-character bits here and there, but this time it just felt like both the story and Wall-E's character totally came off the hinges and for a moment forgot that this was supposed to tie in with the movie. The unintentional irony of the collectibles also being named "Wallops" would only dawn on me years later.
I will admit that the shooter part was still enjoyable to me and the sheer mayhem that transpired was funny, though it did mean that later in life, whenever I read or heard about a school- or mass shooting, I felt a tad guilty, remembering how I myself more or less did a similar thing; got ahold of an unauthorised weapon and proceeded to unleash hell (with a staggering body count!) in freakin' Wall-E of all games.
Another funny bit is the fact that the trash dispensers you use in-game for charged cubes appear to dispense mobile phones, by the bucketload! Which you then promptly compress into cubes and yeet at stuff without a care in the world!
Given how disposable and cheap mobile- and smartphones have gotten in later years and the growing throwaway attitude pervading the industry, it felt like that had aged way better than it probably should have.
Also, a very big praise goes out to you for coming up with the phrase "WCU"! I will henceforth adopt that as the collective name for the movie, games and related things.
    Ah, fond memories.
Thank you for helping me revisit and partly re-experience this part of my early life! Thank you!

I watched the movie in 2012-2013 and I loved it and it's been my favorite movie since then so on my next birthday I got it for the PS3 and tbh it's kinda underrated and then eventually I got this for XBOX 360 and WII version in 2017-2018 when I saw this video I decided to revisit the game for the ps3 and it's still enjoyable to this day. Unfortunately, I threw out the XBOX 360 version because it wasn't long-term term it was just for after school for 2 years, I still have the Wii version and the PS3 version to this day and now after watching your other wall-e review for the PS2, I'm considering getting it because my PS3 is compatible with ps1,ps2, and ps3. Overall, I love this game 9/10 and the movie 10/10, thanks for the video.

I asked for this game on 360 for christmas when i was 6. Whenever i would start the gamr id just spam the A button causing me to select the "new game" option every time. I played those first two levels so many times. Also i saw on the menu that you could unlock the bonus level in the level with the shooting, and i would just walk in and out of the first room continuously and shooting every possible thing. Id shoot the guys that fly above the level, the floor cleaning guys. I spent so long trying to unlock that bonus level. I never figured out the stop the clock level but robot tag was fun with the hammers and stuff. I used to be cracked at keep the cube. Anywho, great video really brought out the nostalgia!

I still find it funny that they extended what was a 15 second scene in the original film to a full level where you just go on a rampage against the Axiom security it's so stupidly out of place it's hilarious

When I played the Wii version of this game, I accidentally discovered a skip similar to the one shown at 19:41 where you get knocked into the air by one of the humans to skip part of the level. Idk if it was that part specifically but I remember doing something similar. I shouldn't be surprised to see that it's an actual strat used in speedruns, but I am anyways lol.
BTW, I didn't like this game much on Wii. I found some of it very tedious. I've always liked the Asobo version on PS2 though. I think I'll have to replay both to see if I change my mind on either. Next time I play the Heavy Iron version though, I'm playing the PS3 version, since the Wii version is obviously a lot worse.
Speaking of which, I don't really understand why they ported the Heavy Iron game to the Wii. Previously, they had ported Asobo's Ratatouille game to Wii instead of Heavy Iron's game, but this time they decided to port the Heavy Iron's game to Wii. It makes way more sense to port the Asobo game to Wii because it's made for lower-end hardware, and the Wii isn't that much more powerful than the Gamecube. But they decided to create a severely downgraded port of the Heavy Iron game instead? It's so downgraded to the point that they had to cut entire portions of the levels to make it work on the Wii. Funny thing is, they still ended up porting the Asobo game to PC, because most people didn't have very powerful PCs back then. So they took that into account when deciding which game to port to PC, but not Wii.

I like to call Wall-E "Diet Vectorman". The reason being is because the film has a similar premise to Vectorman, a 1995 Sega Genesis game. The plot of Vectorman involves human civilization fleeing to the stars in the distant future because the Earth has become overrun with pollution, and robots have been left to clean the Earth. In my opinion, Vectorman did the concept better for several reasons. Prior to them turning against him, Vectorman was aided by other Orbots (robots made of floating orbs) in Earth's clean-up, hence why Earth looks half-decent, whereas Wall-E was the lone wolf in his movie. Vectorman's also a lover, not a fighter, as he single-handedly takes on every one of his former allies, whereas Eve did most of the fighting for Wall-E in his movie. Vectorman's villain was Warhead, a master Orbot who became an evil dictator when a working nuclear missile was inadvertently attached to his programming, whereas Wall-E's villain was little more than a sentient steering wheel. Finally, Vectorman's game had a sequel at the tail end of the Genesis' lifespan, where Vectorman battles an infestation of giant insects mutated from the Earth's toxic waste, whereas Wall-E's movie has no sequel as of this writing.

I played the Wii version Emulated on my laptop using a normal controller, which mostly worked fine. Anytime I had to aim was awful though since using a pointer mapped to an analog stick that recentered anytime I took my thumb off the stick. I like the Xbox version, but I always found the PS2 to be better, I think it's because of the way Wall.e moves and the little things like, seeing a bunch of Wall.es 700years before the movie start, the corpse that Wall.e thought was still alive, the Eva + Wall.e still there in the final level, the trauma of those scary robot rats and the scary death scenes
The ps2 version was one of, if not the first game I ever played and the Wall.e model felt so realistic in my lil child head
Also i liked the sun recharging animation so much that i used to go to the final level (the earth one with the robot rescue and the plant chase) just to take damage in that little fance on the side of the big truck and then climb that little ramp to the top to see the little charging animation
maybe its the nostalgia speaking, maybe its cus i played the ps2 version first, but damn i love the ps2 version
