What happens if the destination disk is physically smaller than the source partition even though the total data in source disk, (OS,apps, personal data, etc) can easily fit well in destination hd?. I had that problem with Norton ghost and cloning. I think one thing is cloning and in this scenario I need an IMAGING app. Can you explain? Thanks
Sorry the newbie question. I actually have a project where i want to take my current Windows instalation drop a DISM image of it and build a Windows 11 installer. To do so, my line of thinking is to clone my current setup (i would love to do it on Rescuezilla but my main drive is a 2tb NVME) to a 512gb NVME (it will fit as i use around 380gb on the entirety of my system) and open the 500gb drive on my testbench without internet. The idea: I want to keep my main drive as it clone just so i can open on this testbench to uninstall all programs except a feel ones (like firefox), do the dism /Capture-Image command and with that image make my Windows 11 Instalation. My actual question, if i follow this method (except for the checkbox to boot from the new drive) my 2TB will be intact and bootable, right? In other words i'll have two disks with the same bootable disk (hence stay offline on the other system so i don't mess the Windows activation).
i have a hdd that is 1 tb, and i want to migrate windows to a nvme that is 500 gigs. diskgenius is telling me that the hdd exceeds the storage the nvme has, i just want to migrate windows tho
Can i ask if i clone my windows to second hdd, will the first hdd files and windows os will be deleted? and if not, can i use those two windows os in 2 computer at the same time?
is it possible to migrate windows to a PARTITION of an ssd, without deleting everything else in the other partition of the same ssd? if not, can i install a fresh copy of windows in a similar manner?
I never got the option check box 'when finished, change computer boot sequence' it finished and told me to choose which disk to boot from in the bios? I'm using windows 10
@@memstechtips all good, its up and running, always different variable in other countries. Thanks for your vids, they are really helpful, I love getting rid of the bloats, but I do hate the forced updates on the home edition!
You are correct! It is the same as cloning your disk. The main reason for using Diskgenius is because it's completely free. To use the cloning feature in AOMEI Backupper you have to buy it.
I get an error "Used Space of Source Disk exceeds Target Disk capacity" when I want to migrate my C: 120GB to an external 120GB. Also tried Macrium Reflect and same error.
That is extremely interesting. It might be that your target SSD isn't a 120GB SSD. You might think it is, but it might not have the space it claims it has. What brand is it?
"The system migration feature temporarily does not support migrating the system partition located on the MBR disk that boots in UEFI mode" I don't know what to do. Help me pls
did not work for me. after opening "this pc" I find that the disk with the windows icon is still the original one but I also have the windows cloned in the target disk. what I wanted is the target disk to be the bootable one.
@@billydinner6804 if you have a second drive you can use copy everything to it. I had some micro SD cards laying around, but I couldn't transfer everything onto just one. I copied as many folders from the root as I could to each one. If you happen to have a drive that is big enough to hold everything in one go, do that
I have no clue what Im doing wrong.. all steps reviewed multiple times, did things differently and still nothing.. cant migrate OS, cant factory reset nor get win11.. fuck this all. Every solution just pop different error or worked but pc did whatever to stop me.. how the fuck am I not able to install 4gb on 64gb disk? Or it says Im installing and to remove diskbbut after removing it put me back.. 2nd day, over 30 videos and nothing.
Let me know if this worked for you please!
Thank you guy, was trying to figure out how to allocate all the extra space, you solved my hour long problem. Thank you!
Hi! When transferring, will the program format the whole disk, or just the partition where I'm planning to transfer? Thanks in advance!
Brilliant Sir😘
90+ gb 1 bours max. Hdd to SSD. Great Video. Thanks bru

Thanks Mate!, One Question. Can I format my 1st drive now after migrating the Sytem?
Sure can
Does the recovery partition and EFI partition get created automatically and properly sized?

It worked! Thanks a lot! I tried AOMEI Backuper and EaseUs partition master. But both gave me errors.

I think the C partition where Windows is might have more than 500GB in use?

Installing a fresh copy of Windows on another partition is definitely an option, but I'm not sure about the cloning.

I'm sorry but I don't know why it would happen like that...

What you call migrating seems to be the same as cloning, for which I use AOMEI's Backupper. Is there a difference I am missing? Well done!

Buy a bigger target HDD you stooge
Brillliant, I will try this out. It looks so easy, even for a novice to do with your guidance.🍻🤠🇦🇺
Thanks! It's really really easy.

MBR boots on Legacy, I think. Try changing boot settings on your bios to Legacy mode instead of UEFI mode first before migrating the system.
Can I do this to a hdd
But they cloned the disk, can i delete the old disk?
If your clone is successful, yes.
did not work for me. after opening "this pc" I find that the disk with the windows icon is still the original one but I also have the windows cloned in the target disk. what I wanted is the target disk to be the bootable one.
Head into your bios on startup and set the new drive as the bootable device
I did it and same issue
i did everything but then the other drive that I was migrating to got deleted
Did you not read the warning or watch this video? It needs to delete everything so backup your data.
i thought it meant my current drive so mb

I hope you were able to recover those files, sounds heartbreaking
how many times can i transfer my windows to another ssd?
32 times

Please how to undo this all together?
i dont get the option to select target disk, it beings me straight to the partition size screen where no buttons can be clicked except for cancel..
Is the target disk automatically selected maybe?
Create a partition on the drive
DOES IT CLONE THE FILES TOO? LIKE INSTALLED APPLICATIONS
Yes it clones everything.
Completely bricked my pc…. Thanks…..
It worked for me but it turned my 2tb ssd into a 120gig ssd for some reason
Doesnt work.
Saffer? Gr8 tutorial.
I am indeed a Saffer! Thanks for the feedback.
Does not work dont waste time
