looking like a nice turntable - I have a Rega Planar3 myself with a Grace tone arm and a Rega Bias cartridge. Due to the motor depending on the 230V AC 50Hz, it needed to have a certain capacitor and resistor. When the speed stability was unpredictable you would hear the tune wobble all over the place. I fixed this by replacing the resistor and capacitor which cost me a few dollars from Jaycar, the Australian equivalent of Radio Shack. Regarding neat little things about the records - try this on a record you dont really care much about (as this will damage it), you can hear the record without the amp, place a needle or sharp object such as a toothpick, wrap a paper cone around it, and move it in the groove, you will hear the sound of the record played as the cone captures the sound and projects it.

that cover is also for airmovement when playing. because it can really pick up a door opening.

Hey,great video.I've had a Marantz 6110 since '79 when this shyster kid who owed me money he didn't have offered me a Levi's jacket and the 6110 instead.Turned out to be a pretty good deal. The only problem i have with mine currently is that the auto return will only engages if i manually move the tone arm almost all the way towards the spindle. The reject lever works just fine though.
I run mine through my Pioneer SX-780 which i bought new in '80 with money from my first job. This turntable has an Audio Technica AT4412XE cart and it sounds just fantastic to me.
The service manuals are very easy to get online and the 6110 is surprisingly easy to open up and work on.

I work for an electronics recycling company. Boss basically lets me take anything home. A Marantz receiver came in. I was excited to get it going, but it had been underwater in a flood. It was too far gone for my skills. The wood cabinet was destroyed and rust everywhere inside. Sad day.

I've never had anything Marantz. I love the design of this tone arm and the lifting mechanism.

Nice, I guess you ordered the belt prior to starting the video. I didn't know there was screws for shipping.

I think the extra screws stuff was much more common decades ago. Although I can remember something similar in something I bought in the last 5 years or so. I don't remember what it was but I remember thinking "Transit screws? They still do that?"

My father gave me his old deck which has a weighted & balanced arm. The cheapest cartridge for it is around $100 & the dearest $400. He incased the deck in 3st (42lbs) of concrete to limit vibration. It then sat on a 3st concrete stand with a 3st bag of sand in the middle. I’m looking forward to that age when I am no longer able to separate it all to movie it xD
