Just found one upstairs in my fixer upper house. Very clean however the turntable wont spin. Gonna try and repair it myself. Itll be a great addition to my system
Try some scotch brite pads for cleaning the spindle...should work great without causing any damage. I enjoy and learn from your videos--thanks for sharing.
Hey thanks for this. I have a 6200 that needs some attention and there isn’t a lot of other videos out there on this particular model. I’ll definitely be referencing this when I sit down with it
Awesome video! I'm searching for a replacement platter mat for a Marantz 6200. Mine is brittle and shows signs of deterioration on the underside; I guess it's typical for it to start "bleeding" oil. Have you ever seen that? I know I can get an unbranded one, but this one has the cool Marantz silver logo in the middle, and I'd love to replace it or find one that I could reuse the silver logo plate.
You do honest work. Way to protect the tone arm. Often the original plastic is found on the bright work. The blemishes will come off with warm water and a paint brush and dawn dishsoap with a small amount of iso. Try to find a product called vinatone.....it is awesome. The caps on these are too easy to change not to do it. ESR / DC current / Resistance...may even run backwardsb(dual 505 lol). Brake clean on a rag clean the pully quickly. Soldering iron on the screw / paint for a few seconds makes it easy to agitate away.
HELP!! You know that small red washer you were worried about losing when taking the motor apart? Well I performed a motor service tonight and lost it. Can you point me in the direction of a replacement? I’m wondering what specific material/type of washer would be best.
Hi Turntable Guy! I have a 6200 and I realized that the arm drops very fast when it operates in manual mode, so If you use the cue lever the arm falls very hard. I don`t find how to apply a thicker oil to reduce that. Do you have a video that explains that? greetings from Mexico City!
Hi Turntable Guy, thanks for this very informative video. Do you know if there's a way to adjust / fix the anti-skate spring on this turntable? On my 6200, when the arm lowers onto the start of a record it always has a tendency to skid inwards (the needle skips several grooves into the first few seconds of a the first song). This is reduced a *little* bit if the anti-skate is set all the way at 3 but only very minimally - it still skids inwards a bit. I'm thinking the spring on the anti-skate is maybe worn out, cause when I take the headshell off to see how the tonearm behaves when I move the knob, it doesn't pull back very much at all when it's set all the way to 3 (compared to my other turntable where moving the anti-skate knob causes the tonearm to respond much more convincingly). Thanks!

I also think the ROI on turntables is quite low. 33.3 (excluding lenoco and bsr junk) after that its a matter of taste. put money into cart and stylus. 80s technics are hard to beat when serviced properly and is doesn't need to be a sl1200 or 1300 either q200 is fine for most people.

Getting ready to overhaul my 6100 so this was really helpful. Thanks!

I see it all the time. Have several videos with platter mat rot. You'll have to find a second hand original.

Thank-you for the tips. If it were my table, I would definitely be replacing the caps, but it all depends on the owner.
Any idea how to modify to make play half speed masters? I can get my hands on a schematic
Where are you located sir? I would love a check-up done on my 6300

You should be fine to use any kind of washer like metal, etc.
Does the 6100 and 6300 share the same motor?

Is your stylus getting worn?
@@TurntableGuy I've tried several types of cartridges, stylus and headshells and it always seems to happen unfortunately.
@@djfunkybeak I would try adjusting the lead-in point a little further in on the record.
On motor reassembly, it looks like you needed 3 hands.
These old tables are going for a good buck now
I have 26 finished tables. Cant get what they are worth locally. Going online.
