      well sage 5 always had wire clip. they need to put a wire clip on PM2

      @@edrader imo I think the pocket clip on the pm2 is good for what the knife is known for a well build heavy duty knife. And I'm not saying the taichung ones are not well made but I prefer spydercos usa line up.

    • @edrader

      I like them both but the wire clip is superior if you never want to accidentally lose a knife

    Hey Nick! I have never been a fan of Spyderco only because I am not a hard use working mans style knife user because I an retired and I have tried to put that behind me, Lol. Thanks to your review on both the Kapara and the Magnitude I now have a new found respect for these fine knives, it helps they don't have the overwhelming style of many other Spyderco knives I pass on. Happy Holiday and thanks for helping me to expand my mind to this brand, your videos have been a great help. Cheers

    ordered today. 122.50 at Knifeworks. To me its more of a challenger to the para 3 lw. Now that I see the disassembly I feel better about this knife at that price than I did buying the DLT para 3. S30 vs m390 aside the sage just looks better built. The Chaparral FRN will still be the choice for a light carry.

    I typically feel for burrs on the washers before placing them against the blade. I have found that an eyeball misses the edges of the often found copper burr that is present. Then I will pass that edge over some stropping or even 1500-3000 stone if necessary.

  • @Ice_Berg
    @Ice_Berg 5 лет назад +3

    I find it interesting that In addition to the bushing, they also changed the internal stop pin. The original version uses a pin on both sides of the blade and channels cut out of both liners, but on this they swapped them around and put the pin on the liners and the channel in the blade.
    I would think it had something to do with implementing the bushing pivot, but both the original and the CQI Kapara have the pin as part of the liner, so it might just be that they decided it was a better way to do it in general.

    I have always liked the Sage line and how they make the same general knife with every different type of locking method. It might be the most "Spyderco" knife of all. I hope they make a button compression lock version similar to the Smock. I took out the second detent on mine and I can't stop playing with it. More rounded/nicer scales would be appreciated as well, but there is always aftermarket for that.

    Did they reinforce the FRN where the wire clip attaches? The only issue I have had with the Chaparrel is the polymer chipping around the clip, allowing the wire clip to pop off. I still love it though.

      @Black_Cat_997 5 лет назад +1

      Would have been a great decision, because it would signify that they are doing something different than the Para3 lightweight. The color is superficial, but from a marketing points of view it is a big thing. (I also like the grey better)

    Nick, I have a question for you. How do the edges of the FRN scales feel on the Sage 5 Lightweight? Are they thin and almost sharp feeling? I'm asking because when it came to the Spyderco Paramilitary 3 Lightweight, it's FRN scales too me felt thin and almost sharp(very annoying/uncomfortable in the hand).

    Is it the same as the sage 5, but with different liners? Or are there more changes?

    • @funghiman8492
      @funghiman8492 5 лет назад +1

      Quite a few actually. On the original Sage 5 the secondary stop pin is embedded on the blade and protudes on both sides, the newer LW version (03:47) changed that to the non-locking side of liner, and milled the track into the blade instead. Again if you are not that familiar with the original Sage 5, check Nick's disassembly guide for that knife here (ruclips.net/video/JODVKCrPI5A/видео.html ). Also the new pivot bushing Nick mentioned at 02:55.
      In short, the revised LW version may still share some minor parts with the original, but key components (namely the blade, both liners, as well as the pivot) are no longer interchangeable.
