I was a General Contractor for 35 years and I can tell you your prep work for the slab was outstanding. Templates for the bolt placement is so important for ease of building erection. Concrete is very unforgiving so attention to detail before the placement is super critical. Everything looked really clean. Saw cutting was a very good investment and infinitely better than hand troweled joints. All that said, don’t be surprised if you get some minor unexpected cracking. Concrete has three properties: Its gray, its hard, and it cracks. I supervised the construction of a 100,000 sf vehicle maintenance facility and I would highly recommend a concrete sealer (it can be mixed with color if you want) after the concrete cures to facilitate the ease of cleanup after gas and oil spills. As concrete is very porous, a sealer is the best investment you can make for retaining the appearance of the concrete. It should be cheaper than an epoxy coating.
Great work!
vocomp!!!
I second the sealer. Best investment you can make. Get a good quality sealant and make sure the concrete is clean and dry.
Kind of a crazy idea...
But, you should host a Hawaii Luau Pig roast for all people involved/ neighborhood when you are done with
Molokai!!!
I love that you didn't try and get a discount for being an "influencer". Major props. There were a lot of concrete workers out there trying to feed their families.
I love saw cuts. Don't charge extra for the either. U had a good crew but I could have done it w just 4 guys lol😂
Doing all this right before your wife goes back to school...as if she isn't stressed out enough 😂😂

I have a concrete channel on RUclips and I must say this vlog was very inspiring. Congrats on the 100k
Great work on the slab. I'm digging your editing skills as well. You deserve your dream shop.👍👍
This brings back memories of building my pool house. I was the general contractor and main labor for the build. Electrical, plumbing and frame work by the pros. The rest by me.
Great job on your dream garage. But did you consider a toilet
As a displaced North Texan who now lives in VA, it's nice to see yall still doing it big! I subscribed because your content is great!
This is awesome!! I definitely dream of doing this someday!!
Dude! I remember when the video dropped that you had hit 100k subs and now you're almost at 150k. Looks like that momentum is kicking in. It'd be interesting to see how many videos it takes to equal the cost of the shop. No doubt it will make that money back for you as the channel continues to grow. Good on you!
Exciting! I had a small slab poured for my hand built shed. It was small, but so satisfying to watch. Good on ya bro!
Hope your family in Hawaii is ok. Sending prayers and love to all who are affected by the horrible wildfires! So sorry to hear about your beautiful island.
Holler at me if u have any other concrete to pour on RUclips. As another RUclipsr I would love to help for free
Can't wait to see this thing done, gonna be epic. Congrats on completing this stage. 👏
Your videos are really well done. I am enjoying all of this, especially since you are an Island boy. I was in the Army in Hawaii 1973-1976, yes I am an old man but the best times of my life were on the beaches of Oahu North Shore. My little detached shop, 30X38 is puny but I am into Motorcycles not hot cars, lol. Be safe, have fun from Southeast Georgia. One big suggestions when that shop is done dont cut corners go ahead and epoxy the floor, you will thank yourself a thousand times.
So $47,500 for all the concrete work, but how much was the concrete itself?
Bring me your truck. I’ll paint your fenders at no cost!
Please, Please, Please tell me you have a spot where the kids got to put their hand prints and maybe signed it. Knowing mine is on the slab of my shop from 1983 is pretty cool.
Dude... That's an awesome slab! Can't wait to see the building go up!!
You crazy dude… AND WE LOVE IT!!
Exciting! I'm hoping this video series gives me some ideas on the dream shop I want to build some day.
I'm not into cars at all, but I love my makerspace workshop, and this is the dream, man. Congratulations brother on taking the big leap! Good things come to those who wait, but great things come to those who take risks, and I hope this exponentially returns capability, creativity, and great content for you and your family. Pomaika’i! Go 808!
Looking great! This build is fantastic, and It will make work on all your vehicles so much easier and you will have plenty of space to not need to move vehicles around as you want to work on something.
Woooooo looks massive.
Love concrete days!!
Keep up the great job!
bro these videos are gonna be so sweet to watch again in 50 years for you and the fam.
Simply, a great job! You have opened my makas as to what can be accomplished on my own acre. Sorry, I went to Hawaii and this is the one word that has stayed with me.
You and @Studpack know how these storms feel when you’re trying to pour concrete. Great work!
Looking awesome Chad that's a lot of hard work going on and I know the weather did not cooperate living here in Kansas. We seen some crazy weather. Looking forward to the build. Stay safe out there and have a blessed day and stay hydrated. Aloha from Kansas
OH MAN - the teaser at the end with the structure going up! Cannot wait to see more! So cool to watch it all come together! So jealous! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
I appreciate the videos. You've led my Silverado journey. I picked up the Lasfit lights, Pulsar, CAI kit, Flowmaster pipes and have to get the Rough Country grill kit installed. Keep them going and keep prospering. You're great for the community!!!
Yeah you, Hawaiian!!! Brah. So awesome to see you doing really well and living the dream! We love watching your channel and seeing you and the ohana enjoying all that open space! 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Home Depot employees putting in a hard days work.
You should of hired Ryan. Easy Money
First or nah?
Good job braddah! Texas is where it's at!
One of the biggest mistakes that was made for your shop. No floor drains! Another thing. Bro get your shingles fixed before you get major water leaks from the ridiculous storms Texas gets.
Looking killa my braddah 🤙🏽🍻
I've been to Texas once and honestly wildest weather I've ever seen and I've been to quite a few places. 1st day it was hot af and then when we got to the race track all of a sudden black clouds, torrential downpour like I've never seen, and gale force winds. That lasted 10 minutes then back to red hot. That happened twice the week we were there.
That was impressive. Great prep work equals great results. Loving the series
Pool next!!
Same thing happened to me. I'm building a 80x40 and between the forming and the concrete we had a whole day of Florida thunderstorms. Filled my footings with water and shifted all the forms. That was BEFORE inspection too so we had to fix it all to perfect before calling in the inspection. I feel your pain.
That’s awesome. Goes without saying how jealous I am haha. You are gonna reap the benefits of your hard work! Keep grinding man!
I'm honestly surprised by the cost of the concrete and driveway work. Roughly $47,500 for all of that doesn't seem bad for the size and scope of all that concrete and work. I'm enjoying this build as i would love to build a larger shop at my house as well.
Love it. You have to epoxy the floor. I did it 16 years ago. Still looks great
Dead God how could someone live that close to other people? and a HOA too? Not a chance. Maybe I am just spoiled to have no neighbors and live a bit in the country where I do what I want and ask no permission, up to and including walking around in my undies through the yard.
Bro I’m loving this build! Can’t wait to see the final product! I was wondering, What is the name of your background music? I love the style of rock/country, it compliments the content really well. If you had any name I’d appreciate it a lot! Keep up the videos!
Congrats and GREAT video as always! Love seeing your dream come true! ODB from FL
Another great video from LSH! Concrete is still in high demand so this wasn’t cheap. Here in Indianapolis the State is attaching I-69 to I-465 (finally) and laid asphalt then concrete on top to save concrete (and money). The difference in concrete colors on your driveway though would drive my perfectionist self crazy. I’d have to hire someone to do a texture on top of all of it to get it to match. It’s only money 😂
I'm so jealous you've got your slab poured! My builder keeps pushing my footer piers every week, but I'm at his mercy and/or schedule. I didn't see the family or the kids put the hand prints somewhere in the concrete? It looks fantastic! Congrats on getting the pad and ready to keep going bud! I also didn't see any floor drains or conduit in the edge of your building for your electrical and water? Have fun and don't work to hard!!
Love your videos, and your proof of hard work pays off to those willing to put in the blood, sweat, and tears . I am sending my prayers to those back in Hawaii and hope you don't have family directly affected by this tragedy. Keep up the great videos
Awsome shop. If ur concrete gets cracks in it it's from them wetting it while pouring and while finishing. That stuff was setting up way too fast. Normally start a pour that size in that heat well before sunrise. It's funny they charged extra to cut joints. Doing them by hand would have been very difficult and made their job much harder
Please please! Don’t say pouring concrete. It’s placing the concrete! lol I’m a retired combat engineer (Army) and it’s called placing concrete.
im diggin the project, i approve on how your making it look flawless, even with the set backs, good job. cant wait to see it.
From a fellow N Texan, good job. I didn’t see the electrical stub up, unless separate meter, or any plumbing. I bet a pool is next.
With you living in Texas your concrete costs less then here in Pa. as We use a minimum of 5.5" driveway slab because of the frost heave. I also noticed that they pour more watered down concrete in Texas where ours in thicker which I was told it made the concrete stronger.
Im curious why they left out the strip between the 2 pours? Normally would have just poured the building and than the drive 2 separate days. They poured 2 days anyhow
This summer is just too damn hot. Heat wave down here in Florida been having heat index of 115 the past few days. Buncha bull haha
$48,000 doesn't sound bad for all that area.👍👍
Subscribed bruddah ….. planning on doing a 40x30 foot shop for my car audio business in the near future
bro you inspire me to want to move my family out of california and actually live. there’s so much more then just working and paying these high taxes here. my money looks like it would go further anywhere but here
Add: Kia go places. Can’t wait for some kid to come take it and wreck your new car 👍
Add: dawn dish soap clean your dishes with dawn
why? why a H.O.A area? could you not find anything better or do you like handing out money to worthless people who do nothing?
It's way easier if you don't install those anchor bolts in the wet concrete. Then just come back once the walls are framed up and drill then screw in titan bolts. No layout is needed and you don't have to worry about having an anchor bolt interfere with wall studs.
Just found your channel, nice to see a Hawaiian local living it up 💯. Mahalo braddah 🤙🏾
Good stuff going on here... you are good at asking permission... i am more of a beg for forgiveness kinda guy
Lookin’ good!!
I don't know if you mentioned this in the video but why haven't you taken out the post next to your garage right before the old drive way. are you planning on putting a fence there or ? because my thought is more space in the drive way would be better
You are going to get cracks in that drive way, if there is soil down and up movement in your area. You need to dig out more, fill with sand, then the top lair, the rebarb top and bottom in the concrete.
victory style
Damn $42500 just of foundation after all said and done closer to $85,000 for the shop
Great job! You seem to be handling any stress well
aye howzit unks , new to ur channel and wanted to know ur story cuz i seen the hawaiian in ur name and was wondering , u one hawaiian in texas ? also hc u call dis project “molokai” if u stay in texas…. again jus new to the channel and interested 🤙
90 yard at 160 per yard after all fees is $14,440. how much the labor?
IT'S AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN DO WHEN YOU GET A BUNCH OF MEXICANS TOGETHER. LOL VIVA MX
My mistake hundred degrees and you're pouring such a massive amount you would want it that wet😊
Those bolts would make swinging off that chopper heaps of fun…😅
You all are doing an amazing job, it is looking great!!!
Where do you live at? That’s what I’m looking for big yard
Crazy to see this come along. Congrats and stellar editing work! Not a bad job on the slab either 😆
3 week weather delay? I'm on a 3 month weather delay. To muddy to do any digging here in NE Ohio.
I thought that this was a Great video, and I am looking forward to the next video!
Well done!
Dude, what sun glasses are those? They are sick. Id like to grab a pair.
how almost 50k for concrete base alone well and the ground work
Love this series! Can’t wait till it’s done!!!
Being a Hawaiian in Texas do you say “howdylowha”?🤣🤣🤣
Okay so I commented on part 1 about HOA , and had no clue you had one hahahah I love it
This must have been in the 2 or 3 week stretch of thunderstorms almost every evening
if you decide to move i'll pay big bucks for that house & shop
Well hopefully these videos will do good so u can get that money back
What’s going on with the build, been waiting for updates
Great lookin start to the shop!!! What kind of drone are you using?
Them Mexicans can pour they did a great job
Did you add bathroom in the garage if it was possible?
Looks good, just looked at the cost, WOW. And I'm sitting here debating on a 10x44 foot driveway extension.
Eh howzit brudda..da concrete choke man...no ka oi. No can wait to see da progress...shaka..🤙
Hand cut expansion joints are better then saw cut ,but do you
Why don’t you have a pool? Or is that another project?
how much was 4 concrete ? asking from the 808 state
