  • We were recently in Orange Ca. outside Covenant Presbyterian documenting (gathering photos & video) from the public sidewalk. the main interact i had was with a curious couple questioning what we were doing. The male individual seemed to get unnecessarily close, maybe an attempt at intimidation? who knows. Soon after they went back inside, we noticed a few individuals in the distance giving us cam-backs. A short time later , two officers from orange police arrived on scene. The male officer was professional & identified when asked. However, the female office wasn't the same. when I asked for her name & badge # she replied 'Right Here".

      One could even call his behavior "Christlike". Kind of like the female parishioner, as opposed to the male in the blue shirt. Nothing Christlike about him. & the female cop was an arrogant asshole, as opposed to the male cop. He was cool.

    • @hhdghj

      The photographer stresses, many times, that they are on public property. On public property you have no "personal space".

    • @Unholy_Louie
      @Unholy_Louie Год назад +3

      @@hhdghj No, it's obviously false; think about it for a second dude...
      Wherever you have the right to be, expected to be, invited to be, you enjoy a reasonable amount of "personal space" depending on the situation, and the intent of the people getting close to you (i.e. does it feel like a threat, intimidation, etc.)
      For instance, if you're in an empty park and someone, with all of the free space, gets to one foot of your face, one certainly might have a reasonable expectation of feeling invaded in their space, that there is a danger, and then self-defense could kick in.
      But if you are in a very crowded tourist spot it obviously might be completely different.
      To be clear (because we have to with people like you) there is no law on "personal space"; but it doesn't mean AT ALL that it isn't an important legal factor when evaluating many different aspects such as intent, capability, testimonial reliability, right to self-defense, etc., etc.
      In common speech, and in a free and civilized society, "personal space" is more of a social rule or concept. It's not far from a legal one in the sense that if completely ignored repeatedly, there's often criminality in one form or another at some point.

Should be fined a months salary for that refusal... And the money donated to local charities... I think that this would put an end to their tyrannical "Right Here" Name and Badge Number I.D. refusals... Because following their own departmental rules that require them to do so... Great video. Very professionally handled by all. The curious church goers were just that….curious. The male cop was outstanding. He identified and immediately said the videographer was fine and walked back to his car and left. The female cop has a bit of a chip on her shoulder which seems to be common for female cops. I’m not sure why that is……maybe they have some self esteem issues and they feel the necessity to be a little “tougher” and less friendly. And of course the videographer did another tremendous job of standing his ground on rights while not being confrontational. It was the perfect audit. This auditor is quickly moving up the list of the best of the best.

    What a smarmy POS that first guy was! Makes me want to take a shower. He really has that Christian thing down. I grew up down there in Orange! Now I'm far, far away in a distant galaxy. The vast, vast gentrified suburbs have sure changed since I was a kid! We used to play in the Orange groves, eat oranges, run and hide from the farmers, their shotguns and their dogs!!! Now I don't think there's an orange grove left there. I played on the Garden Grove freeway when they were building it. That dates me I guess! LoL... I have to admit that it is very tidy and upscale down there now but wow, it looks like death of the spirit to me. Glad I'm far, far away from that spirit crushing, unending, suburban gulag now. You're doin' a fantastic job, by the way! I LOVE your videos! But better you than me!!! Heh. Cheers!

    I'd think the perfect reply by the photographer when asked "Can you not take pictures or film us?" would be "Can you not talk badly about President Trump?" or something like that. This would equalize them instantly.

    Officer "Right Here" appears to be a proud representative of the Orange Police Department. Could use some education in public relations, common courtesy, department policy, and respect.

    I've seen several videos of 1st amendment auditors at churches confronted by church staff and/or members. Personally, being a born again believer, I would invite the auditors with their cameras in to share the gospel, rather than confront them and try to intimitdate them. kudo's to the officer that recognized their legal activity.

    Those first two were so obviously phony. They invited you in so they could tell the police you were not invited, and you were trespassing, oh and they're all sooo scared.

    That man should've remained inside the church and allowed his female companion to meet with you by herself. She was pleasant and could conceivably have gained a convert for Covenant Presbyterian. He, on the other hand, was a total jerk. No sane person approaches to within inches of a stranger on a public sidewalk and asks "What are you doing?", "Do you live here?", What is your name?". He gave his church a black eye. Really, who would want to worship in a congregation that included him?

    Sign reads god loves you and so do we, but their actions say differently. Since when does a person have to answer your questions? Officers should have done their jobs properly, and the second (POS) officer needs to learn how to ID to citizens.
