My father passed away 10 years ago from stomach cancer. Since then, I've been battling a lot of inner demons, but your story and adventures have truly inspired me. I want to start hiking and traveling, even though money is tight right now. I'm committed to making it happen and working towards my goals. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Your mother raised a beautiful person~you!
So sorry for the loss of your mom. I am 67 yrs old and you are so right about it goes fast. The older you get the faster time goes. Fill every glorious moment with wonderful adventures and happy memories. Most of all don’t forget to talk to your mom. She is with you and always will be❤
I’m sorry you lost your mother at such a young age. I’m two years older than she was. You are right. WAY too young. Yesterday was my oldest brother’s birthday. He would’ve been 77. He died of pancreatitis at 37. You are both very wise, remarkable people. And I’m in awe of Bird Call’s drawings. I struggle doing a stick figure!
Thank you for your kind message. 🫶
i'm sorry for your loss. your mom would be proud of you
You are an inspiration. Strong, insightful, kind, loving. You are a positive asset to the universe. Stay strong. You will reach your goal, with bells on!
Thank you for sharing a very personal story, I know it wasn’t easy but thank you. Stay safe and enjoy.
You made me tear up talking about your mom🤍 I lost my dad to cancer 9 years ago, it’ll be 10 in December. To experience life so fully is something I really admire about you
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
“Grief never ends. But I changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love”
I am about to be 62 and I totally agree that life on this planet goes by in a literal blink of an eye!! Bless you and Birdcall for your outlook on life and your relationship! Keep on keepin on!! ❤❤❤❤ I'm excited to read y'alls book when it's out. 😊💜✌️🏞🏜🥾
I lost my mom when I was young…she was 62 and me in my early 30s. I lost my oldest brother to cancer 3 years ago and my youngest just last July. I have lived a lot of life because of that lesson…life is way too short. Some people never learn it. Thank you for sharing. You two are such a good inspiration and so full of good energy. Love you decided to vlog this hike.
My father passed away at 54 of a heart attack in 1991. I was 27 a mother of 2 boys, 4 and 1. Miss him everyday. So young. I am 60, it was definitely too young. I ha e absolutely loved your videos. You are a precious couple. You video well. Love the painting. My daughter has a degree in art. Her paintings are all over my house. I just thought about it she is 27 . The same age I was when my dad died. God bless you all. Thanks for the answer about the Rei shirt.
This was a great video! It illustrates how much goes into a long day of hiking. Thanks for sharing this with us.
There so many hard lessons in life. And that you had to learn about mortality at such a young age makes that lesson a particularly difficult one.
It is heartwarming to see and hear about what your mom meant to you and the lessons she taught you that are still so fresh in your mind.
“Lake of shining waters”. Anne of Green Gables
Moms, they never completely leave you ❤❤💔💔 Lovely painting of what looks to be the Rainbow Bridge.
WHAT AN AMAZING COUPLE YOU ARE. I TRULY AM IN AWE OF YOU. THIS 74 YEAR OLD SENIOR LOOKS FORWARD TO EACH VIDEO EVERY DAY.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Love Ken Follett’s historical novels. Your story time activity suggests to me that you two might be a great team at doing graphic novels. The couple that did Curious George the Monkey came to mind……
Your mother is right: this life is amazing. One must be present to & mindful of each moment……savor it. Y’all are most definitely on the right track……
Watching a loved human suffer and succumb to cancer is a life changer. I lost my best friend to Brain Cancer 4 years ago. She was only 43. Her struggle taught me SO MUCH about appreciating what you have when you have it.
Ps. geocaches are cool! 😂
good one, today.
I am so moved by your testament today. I was also 23 when my father died at age 60. I traveled Europe many times for my father's memorial.
Enjoyed your video and conversation today. Yes I have been married for 32 years and it definitely has its perks 😂😂.
I'm 72 and feel the need to figure out and do the most important thing before I'm too old to chew my own food, so to speak. Thanks-- great video.
Beautiful scenary. I love peanut butter! Love your story. We only have one life so don’t miss it! Take risks and make your dreams come true. You have to take risks. Love the paintings.
🫶 I have started a new morning tradition: peanut butter time with Birdcall and Boss Bae
I'm currently caring for my mom, who had a stroke last year, I feel so honored to be able to do this after living in a different country and traveling for the previous 30 years. Your talking about your mom and your dreams helped me a lot today. While my travel is curtailed for the moment, watching you two, and the rest of the tramily is a great way to live vicariously at the moment.
Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️I hope your mom is doing better.
@@TravelWritePaint She's doing good, thanks for asking. Loving Birdcalls paintings too. Found a perfect on on your site...Can't wait for it to arrive. (I know orders are off till August/September)
Beautiful reminder. I miss my dad. He passed 4 years ago. When I get in a rut, i reminder everything he taught me. I love watching your adventure on trail
👣 🏞💕
Yes, 65 is too early to pass, but you honor your mom with your memories of her and all she taught you. Your mom would be very proud of the life-filled, determined, and kind, adult you are today. I'm 70 now, but I filled my life doing most of the things I wanted to do, hiking, education, travel, marriage, kids, arts, and recently, retirement. I recognize daily that I have been and still am extremely fortunate to have a great family and good health, I wish for you and Bird Call to enjoy the same.
Thanks for sharing. Completely understand the lost of your mother. I lost both my parents to cancer but still trying to live life to the fullest.
I’m so sorry you lost your mum at such a young age. I’m sure she would be so proud of what you are accomplishing on your journey. A great lesson for us all. Thanks for sharing and happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Why is it we never have those moments of retrospection when we are comfortably ensconced in our domicile.
My dad was drowned when I was 23 but Mom lasted until I was 67. My retrospections are specific events during each of their lives and their impact on my family’s life. Their examples, their steadfast signposts of acceptable behavior has been an important influence as what my contribution to society has been. My bucket wish for my progeny is that they too, may leave similar guideposts for theirs. God bless the memory of Mom and Dad and may your blessed mother have the same impact in your life.
Be safe, be wise and be careful👍🏼
Loved your message today, I needed to be reminded of appreciating each day. At almost 77 years old and currently suffering from painful knee that needs replacing, I am now focusing on trying to be more positive. I am a very active senior and this knee issue has really slowed me down since January and made me depressed so your message was so timely. Love your journey and so glad I found you through RR who I also enjoy each morning. BirdCall artwork is amazing. See you tomorrow!! Oh, I also loved how you shared how you spend your day.
Yes every day is a Blessing The Lord is good. Enjoy
I'm sorry to hear about your mom.I was in my early 20's when my dad had a massive heart attack. He was 57.Three years ago when I was 57.I had to stop working. I have a muscle disease that has no cure.So I take it one day at a time.Keep making those dreams come true.
Thank you for sharing your story. Keep on hiking today and everyday.
Thanks Susie❤
Life is short, Geo Cache, LETS GO!
Thanks for sharing. So true, nothing is promised to any of us. Life is extremely short. Everyone listening is thinking what could I be doing now, next month, this fall etc…
Tolkien did voice narration from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings as well as some of his poems (The J.R.R. Tolkien Audio Collection, 4 hours). His son Christopher, who compiled all of Tolkien's work posthumously has narrated several of the stories from The Silmarillion, and other books that he reconstructed such as Unfinished Tales, The Children of Húrin, Beren and Lúthien, and the Fall of Gondolin have been made into audio books.
I am sorry about your mum 😢 ❤ way too young.
I had a friend a couple of decades ago, and we used to make up stories together when we were at work. And we worked in completely different fields, and not the same company. We met at a bar, which is how people used to meet before AL Gore invented the interwebz. 😉
There used to be a website that was a superhero and super villain name generator. So we'd get these crazy character names from the generator, make up their origin stories, and then weave them together. It was fun. 😊
Thank you for sharing your story~ I believe each day is special and I'm thankful for it! Hugs
..simply the best channel!
My wife passed in March, so "Tomorrow is not guaranteed" has been my mantra for the last 4 months. The last four years of her life, she epitomized the concept of do what you can. Her channel "Wheels in the Wilderness" was about her getting out and enjoying nature as much as she could in her mobility scooter. We did rail trails and bike trails including the Cross New Hampshire Adventure trail, an 82 mile trail from Vermont to Maine. (It took us a week to complete). So I have to echo your encouragement to get out there and do what you can. She ended her videos with the following "Chase your dreams, challenge your limits and choose joy!"
Sorry for the loss of your mother, It sounds like she had some good life advice for you. Life is short, especially in comparison to eternity. This reminds me of the bible vs. James 4:14: "You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away". You all are doing awesome, keep putting one foot in front of the other. Hike~~On~~>
Enjoying your great content, hope this helps with new shirt for Bobby 😊
Thank you! 🙏
I love geocaching. I do it here in Aus. it takes you to amazing places.
Lol Boss Bae is a muggle...
@aussie_dora @umreeh I also love geocaching!!! I was pretty excited they stumbled upon it.
@@curiouskdb4449 I recognize your caching name!
Love BC's open spandrel bridge painting❤
Ñice trail talk. When I get to talk with hikers in depth, I find they all have a deep reason for their pilgrimage. Thanks for sharing yours. Carry on❤
Hi from Australia ❤ you two are such an inspirational couple, really enjoying following your hiking adventures. Your Mum would be soooo proud of you.💞 🤗💞
Thanks so much! 😊
I appreciate your story and I'm glad you're doing the things you want to do. My tactic was to wait till retirement. Hah. Retirement came and all kinds of family things happened and the freedom to do something like the PCT is no longer possible. So I'm glad you are taking advantage of your freedom and getting epic stuff done!
Sent again to make up for the conversion from Australian to USA dollars 😂😂
😂🥰🥰 thank you so much!!
Very good video on the daily life of hikers on PCT. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your mom.
Thanks for your insight today! I'm starting a LASH next week from S Lake Tahoe on my 70th birthday!
Hey, I geocache. What's Bird Call and Bandit's geo-name? I believe Derek cached too. Some of RR's subscribers found her because she hiked the AT with a cacher we followed.
I’m watching today’s video. I just love you guys!! I’m old now and didn’t have kids but I would be so so proud of you guys and the people you are❤️I’m sure your mom is watching and cheering you on ! Did Bobby get to meet your mom?
Beautiful views.
Do you write down your stories at the end of the day. Such fun memories ❤
Yes. I write every night! 🥰
😭❤️🩹hugs and prayers Boss Bae. You have what my husband calls an attitude of gratitude! He always reminds me when I get worn out and cranky - “you can have an attitude of gratitude or a pity party - but you can’t have both!”
Thanks for a great reminder after a really tough day. #humbled ❤
