Robby it looks fake how good it looks man so good
That paint looks amazing!
Can you add a Paypal option for folks who want to chip in for the project, but don't need merch?
🦅🇺🇸😎👍🏁
Hey, Robby, too bad you don't sell overseas. We'd gladly buy!
The golden nugget needs a session with a professional photographer for some artsy, professional photos. Autumn leaves and long exposures under moonlight, that kinda thing 😄
Yeah this should seriously be in a calendar for the paint they use... PPG Sika Sherwin Williams BASF or whatever
Fantastic idea. And then get prints signed by Ed and sold off for Charity funds for a charity nominated by the working crews on the build. Bushyboy Oz.
Make a golden nugget calendar.
Wow you’re a true artist Robby, great work on the nugget!
Could not think of what to say, but you found the perfect words, I could not agree more!!!
Amen to that
I second that
I was looking for a laugh emoji but ok! It’s good huh? Where does the true artist part come on?!
Looks AMAZING on a laptop, cannot imagine what it looks like in person. Ed is going to be blown away!
It looks good on my phone i wish i could see it in person
I looks better on my phone than your laptop because my phones is better than your laptop
@@juledoren Your phone sucks
I’d love a piece of the masking but being in Canada without the jab I can’t travel to the US.
@@blacktberd08 lol, that was really necessary!
That thing is a piece of art. That's got to be about a $30,000 paint job this will add years to Ed's life
Ed doesn't strike me as an "emotional reaction" kinda guy but I'm betting he sheds a tear or two when he sees this transformation. What a beautiful thing this old nugget has become. Wow! Just, wow!
Craftsmanship and art take time. Some people who have never worked with their hands simply can't understand that concept. Beautiful work, fellas!! Ed's such a lucky man!
Seeing all the work that went into this, it’s no wonder quality paint jobs aren’t cheap.
And... you'll have to look long and hard to find anyone who puts in that much effort in painting perfection as Robby and the crew.
The average joe couldn’t come close to affording anything like this . It’s all about dazzling the RUclips audience. Beautiful, but let’s tie the ribbon on it. Starting to turn into an old laundry list.
And all Ed wanted was for it to run. That thing looks amazing!
WOW - what a journey. So many people do not know the expense that has gone into this paint job. Forget all the liquids, how much has Robby and Co. put into JUST plastic, paper, tape, cups, stirrers ets???
Hundreds and hundreds AND hundreds of dollars. This is a project to be proud of.
We do need to get it to Ed ASAP because - -- --- You know! !! !!!
Dang! Finally! Fabulous! Terrific! Fabulous! Wonderful! Awesome! Stupendous! Great job everyone! All that work has sure paid off! Ed’s gonna cry when he sees it. I’m gonna cry when I see Ed!
Robby Layton is a master auto body mechanic, and an artist in his own right. Not to mention your informative and very entertaining commentary, supported by a great crew and loving family. I know the Golden Nugget was a huge undertaking, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this project from beginning to end. Keep up the great work!
It looks amazing Robbie! I can't believe all the effort you and the team went to. I'm sure Ed will be absolutely swept away with the Golden Nugget.
I just pray that Ed is still alive to be swept away. This build is taking an awfully long time, and time unfortunately is not on their side here.
@@MrThisIsMeToo I was thinking the same thing!
Looks amazing. I was cringing everytime you guys walk towards it with exhausts and stuff . And waiting for the screwdriver to slip when you tightened those screws 😨
@@MrThisIsMeToo you are an idiot.
This build is going way faster than usual.
I can't believe how many of you idiots keep coming up with this Ed's about to die BULLSHIT.
@@MrThisIsMeToo Bull Ed is built like a tank. People always claim this; like they personally know him, as if they were his doctor. As far as we know he's as healthy as a race horse. Sure it has taken a while, but that's what it takes. Do it right or don't do it at all. No other team of shop's out there could have completed this project at this high of quality. Plus the build doesn't pay for itself for those claiming he's milking it for money & views. It's a full restoration or no restoration. No half arsed projects over here. Other shop's would've taken years.
I'm glad I'm not Ed... that Nugget looks so good I'd be afraid to even sit in it, and it isn't even finished! You guys do amazing work.
@@gregbrooks3577 Monkeyman was giving a compliment. Did that go over your head?
@@gregbrooks3577 Um, hey Elvis, your dumb reply to that compliment is still up. You didn't delete squat. If you need any help operating your phone or laptop let me know.
I sometimes wonder if people don't realize you have a business to run and bills to pay and families that count on you for their livelyhood . The time and money invested in this project are astounding but the final product will be nothing short of amazing. Awesome job guys !!
Hi Robbie & all! We just watched putting the Golden Nugget together & it looks awesome. We were able to supply the grill & can’t tell you how happy we are that it turned out so well & hope Ed loves it! Y’all are awesome!
Watched this progress from day one, actually from when the nugget was pulled off the trail by MOR. The amount of work that has gone into the body alone is astounding and the results are astounding as well! 👍🏻🏴
it taking Soooo Long
@@dragonblade7273 It's really not tho. This kind of restoration normally takes several times longer, but everyone involved is working incredibly quickly. Have some patience.
@@TDPEquinox it absolutely is. and its wildly unnecessary.
@@imthepopcornman I suggest you go through a proper restoration of a vehicle that sat in a forest for 40 years, was floated down a river, heavily modified and missing a bunch of hard to get parts.
Do it to the standard that this was done to, and tell me it doesn't take forever.
Now also do it while running an actual auto body shop with customers & other responsibilities.
@@dragonblade7273 No other shop could've done it faster, with this amount of quality control. I guarentee you that.
The scary part of the build for me is assembly where one slip of a wrench means carnage. Great job guys.
Yeah, I was cringing the whole way through..... Looks great, though
Only if it's in the script.
This is a first class restoration and modification if I’ve ever seen one. WOW! Ed’s really going to like it and seeing him view the total package is going to be a priceless moment for sure. 👍🤛🤜😁❤️
I can only imagine how Ed is going to react guys. That's better than new condition for scrap metal in the woods for 20 years +. Wonderful job.
WOW !!!! Over 50 years ago, I painted cars, trucks, farm equipment and anything else in our high school shop. Enamel paint was all we had at the time. IF I got a chance to go to a school that a paint company put on, I went. Basically the instructor would say "READ THE CAN". You are awesome with the new stuff. I enjoy the videos !!
Love the emotion that Robert shared about his brother, you guys continue to make my days easier, knowing there are real people still in the world. Now as for the crew, you guys are great, caring and funny at the same time. Love the updates!
Started watching Matt's off-road recovery a couple of years ago. From there it led to all these other channels that have been so fun to watch. This series on Ed's Suzuki has really cool with the collaboration between the channels. Thanks for the content
Looks stunning! I always wondered how this guy being so young has the skills and knowledge of, if not more, than somebody who's been doing paint and body work for 40-50 years.
He’s really 60! He married a much younger woman and had a lot of plastic surgery
Desire and drive. He wants it more. His drive to be better and know. If one guy does his job and only does his job for 10 years then he'll be drastically farther behind then somebody else who works his tail off for those 10 years trying everything he can to be perfect and well rounded at his job.
Beautiful build, and this has been an enjoyable lesson for me in the right way to do paint and bodywork.
One observation: When doing up exhaust manifolds, it's usually a good idea to use brass nuts versus steel. It didn't look like Hillbilly was using Stainless, but if he was you may want to change that back out. Stainless has a tendency to gall the exhaust studs.
Thanks Robby and crew!
Dangit, that Golden Nugget was looking great inside, and then you rolled it out into the sunshine! WOW, spectacular!! You nailed it!!!
Have a strong feeling I’ll be seeing the Nugget at SEMA this year.
The more I watch your show, the more I enjoy it. The crew are hilarious and they make me laugh. Love your work ethic and the quality of your workmanship. Love how you guys support and give to the community.
Robby, you’re a master in your class, brother! Seriously, I don’t think I’ve seen cleaner lines that that. That’s a miracle build considering what that thing was when you started!
Who is complaining about how long this is taking? DID YOU SEE THIS THING?!?!? It's absolutely ASTONISHING!!! No complaints.
Can not believe the effort you chaps have put into this. Can’t see my local body shop putting a quarter of the skill and effort into a paint job like you have. Fantastic!
I can’t wait for Ed to see this thing Robby Matt and Paul and everyone else that helped to make this happen are awesome people love all of your channels keep up the awesome work Robby the thing looks sick!!!

I'm pretty sure Ed doesn't freak.
I couldn't be more excited to see Ed's reaction to this Suzuki!!!
I have to say Robbie , Out of all of my subscriptions on RUclips. You. Matt's off-road recovery , And fab rat's or my main 3 channels I enjoy the most. You all do so much for everybody else it's amazing. God bless you all .
“Impawstaaaaa”.
That legit just made my day. 😂
You’re a hard working dude, providing and being there for his family and friends.
You’re a legitimate G, Mr. Layton.
Incredible. That has to be way beyond OEM quality on the paint job - do any manufacturers paint at that level? Literally anyone, Ferrari, Bentley, McClaren, etc?
No, not even close
They use robots.
To me it seems like a show car paint job.
No, this is a top level show quality paint job. around 60,000 dollar paint job from my poor and probably low estimation.
NO!
I appreciate your love and respect shown to Ed and others, as you work within your vocation. Makes it a way of life rather than work. Good for y'all thank you
Anybody who has NOT watched this transformation from the beginning has no idea how far the gold nugget has come!!!!! Go back and ck it out if you haven't!!!! Literally blow your mind!!! Rock on Robby!!!!!
This is why body/paint guys charge so much! Tons of labor and skill put into this rig, great job guys!
WOW, Robby you and your crew are classy, very classy. As if the golden nugget build wasn't enough, your prioritizing another build for someone else. Way to go, sir!
The amount of work going into this is just absolutely insane. I could not imagine a more comprehensive job. Y'all car maintenance heroes.
I have followed the golden nugget since day one, can’t wait to see ed’s face seeing both the nugget and rokuo with new trailer
That is one awesome paint job!!! I know the camera doesn't do it justice but it's absolutely beautiful on video so I can't even imagine how sweet it is in person. Ed is going to be flabbergasted!!!!
Love to see the quality of work you guys put out. You don’t cut corners, and it gets done CORRECTLY
She’s so cute telling those jokes. Make it a part of each show. Oh and the golden nugget looks awesome in the sun light. Good job guys!
I love watching a craftsman work to the best of their ability in their trade. I hope you have a professional photographer booked to do a photoshoot with this before it's handed over
I'm glad you guys finally got it done, I honestly thought Ed was going to pass away from old age before you finished it.
Because you are an idiot.
A great gift idea for a 'wake'?
Great! Family values! Awesome that you aren't absent as busy as you are.
Them years go quick
No more plywood drivers door! This project came together beautifully!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! That paint looks amazing. I can't wait to see Ed's reaction to the work everybody has done on this project.
I am a little stunned by your wish to give away the Charger, because this is your dream car. Robby, you need to step back from doing awesome work for other people and do something for yourself. You richly deserve a reward.
Me being a paint and body guy I know the work you boys have put into this one it looks amazing ole Ed gonna love it thanks for taking us for the ride!
Your attention to detail is amazing! Its the difference between a good job and a great job! Also most people don't understand the difference between a finish that's dry and a finish that's cured. Well explained!
Thanks!
Thank you Don!!!
Restoration is an act of love. There is no other reason to put that much effort in it it. Thanks for giving Ed that love. Can’t wait for the big reveal.
Incredible! - I am speechless...- thank you all for letting us be a part of this project!
Robby, I can't believe the amount of time and patience you've put into this project! An amazing job!
Absolutely gorgeous, what a stunning result, worth every minute of the wait.
YOU GUYS HIT A HOME RUN WITH THIS ONE / THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE AND BEST LOOKING PAINT JOB ON ANY SAMURAI OUT THERE / WHAT A COLOR ! JUST GREAT LOOKING
At the beginning of this series, way back when the idea was first floated on Matt's channel, I don't think anyone thought it would reach this level. Holy shit. This is blurring the line on SEMA level restoration.
It will be so exciting to see Ed's expression when he sees the nugget...and you should keep the charger...you deserve it
There's no doubt this is a bloody awesome paint & body job, kudos to Robby & your crew for the effort and skill you've shown with this restoration.
Shame it's on the wrong vehicle. Either Ed will drive it like it's meant to be driven and the paint job will be wrecked in short order, or he'll be too scared to scratch it and so won't use it like it's meant to be used. That Charger tho, will deserve a finish like this.
I agree with this. The work on this is absolutely incredible but it's still all.... wrong? Ed is a utility kind of guy and this is 100% the opposite of what he would want. Outside of the frame it's also not his vehicle anymore... none of the memories he had with the dents and dings of the original are left. I appreciate the incredible work everyone has done but honestly this isn't remotely Ed's truck anymore, not in parts, appearance, how it will drive, function, or memories. I'm sure he'll be grateful but I have to say I also think inside he will be disappointed his original truck he wanted saved is completely gone. I don't know if he'll use this much, it's too nice. Good intentions taken way way too far. This is a museum restoration piece now.
@T.J. Kong exactly! . . . . . . Robby should have impressed us with his skills with a car that was not built to take out prospecting.
@@SteveBrecht Steve I totally agree with you. This project started out with good intentions, but has now gone in the wrong direction.
Wish we could ALL be there when Ed receives it.! Sure his smile will be our treat!! Robby you and your team are the best in this regard, it's BEAUTIFUL
Big Dinner, you are the most genuine person. I enjoy how you approach life.
You're awesome, Robby! Some lucky viewer is going to really enjoy the Charger.
I dont think I stopped smiling once this entire episode! Man so good to finally see that paint. Looks F amazing you guys should be super proud@!
Take as long as you need to do it right, Robby! Thing is looking amazingly good.
I've watched the episodes on the nugget from when Matt and crew drug it out , when Paul did his work on it , and now you guys getting the body work and paint . It's looking awesome !
AMAZING JOB GUY'S!!!!!!!! Thanks for taking care of ED.
WOW!!!! The first time I saw Robby on YT was on Matt's channel. I commented on the video where he did some simple work that Robby knew some stuff. I subscribed to Robby's channel that day. I have not missed an episode since then and always look forward to the next. I am still amazed how his skills, knowledge, workmanship abilities, attention to details and how amazing his whole crew is. In addition, I have learned he is dedicated to his family and apparently knows how to live life with very little sleep!!! The Golden Nugget is evidence of what I say. It is GORGEOUS!!! That is evidence of his pride of workmanship and doing a job the right way every time. Thanks for the dedication you have to doing it the RIGHT way, the very best job that you can do every time. That is an amazing trait.
Look at the fruits of your labor, that looks amazing!
you gentleman have done an outstanding job on this build. perfection takes time and you have nailed it. so IMPRESSED
I can't believe how good the LJ turned out. When I fist saw the color I didn't think I would like it, but it truly does look amazing. Great job to you and your team. Can't wait for Ed's reaction.
Ed is going say "That's why it took so long to do the oil change! You didn't have to do that." He is going to love it. Can't wait to see all 3 together. Motorcycle and trailer and Golden Nugget.
Adjusting things with a hammer is a global thing. My uncle used to work at Land Rover here in the UK. He told me the Discovery 1 and 2 body was so often out of "square" that to fit windows they sometimes had to reverse the cars into a piece of 4x4 braced against the factory structure. The piece of wood was used so frequently it had a part number and had to be checked out/into the stores.
Love the colour scheme of the Suzi... that really pops.
I appreciate all the hard work you all put into the golden nugget. You all are top notch. This is definitely one of my favorite channels.
Holy cow that gold paint is absolutely flawless amazing job boys ed will absolutely love it!
Amazing job fellas. Can’t wait to see the unveiling to Ed. Hope he survives it honestly. He’s going to be blown away.
Alot of people don't know about depth in a paint job Rob. I bet there is alot of it in this paint. POP!!!
Only one word describes the work you have done, FANTASTIC.!!!
We want real numbers on what this cost!! We can handle it Robby
Start at $275,000 and go up!
This is an incredible build I was excited and when I clicked on the link as soon as I got up this morning
I've been watching the nugget since they started hauling it out which led me to all you guys channels From Matt to Paul to you, there is one heck of a story wrapped up in this ride. Love watching all your vids.
That is one nasty mini monster! Can’t wait to see the end product! May it live for at least another 30 years. Those were some great minis of the early 80s. We’ve owned one a rag top. It was for sure a crawler.
I had to wear my sunglasses to watch the video Robby. Seriously great job to all of you. The Golden Nugget is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
That is by far the most impressive and detailed paint job I've ever seen.
Amazing hard work and so many steps to incredible results.
There is no comparison.
Excellent restoration very professional. Ed will love it and deserves it God Bless all involved.
It's looking amazing, guys, I'm so impressed with the dedication you're putting into the project.
Robby the Golden Nugget look incredible you and your team did an amazing job. That is definitely the most expensive paint job for any vehicle in my opinion. Ed is going to be speechless with everything you guys are doing. I can't wait to see it in person
Robby the Golden Nugget looks absolutely AMAZING. I can only imagine how awesome the color looks in person. How rad you can paint Jefe's Corvair too. So rad you will raffle the Charger off. You run a great shop, your attention to detail is awesome.
Someone has gotta pull that engine out and paint and detail it. After that incredible paint job now everything else on the build has to be done at the same high standard. Great work guys. 👍
Expecting Fab Rats to do SEMA level engine bay and motor dressing may be a stretch. :)
No, STOP stretching this out and get Eds truck back to Ed.
@@danielstewart7732 true. Paul’s motto is “It’ll do”, very similar to mine. But maybe after seeing and feeling this gorgeous paint job, Michelle will change the game. :)
@@jerrys2745 yes! very high-quality overkill, that will be underappreciated even by Ed?
As much as I admire the work you’ve all put in, I feel like this has went overboard. I feel like Ed’s not gonna want to drive off-road or anything because it’s too nice. He would’ve been happy to get it back months ago just running and driving.
Why would he go wheeling with it?
It was never intended for wheeling.
Ed MAY decide to take it to his claim, or he MAY choose to keep it around Utah.
If you would've paid attention to the recovery videos, Matt explains that Ed thinks they were just going to get it running, but they were going to do a FULL REBUILD on it!
Over kill and turning into a museum piece .no fun
I'd wheel it in the woods tomorrow.
@@adrianspeeder I think it would be funny as hell if Ed took it prospecting and scratched it all up. But I doubt that he would do that, even if they would let him. Sadly they have made this truck unusable for Ed.
I've wondered this as well, but I also don't know ed so I figure his buddies probably know best!
I really appreciate the way you make these videos. They'be been such an interesting watch, without wasting anyone's time. Glad to see it come together this nicely!
