- David Dunn/The Overseer (Bruce Willis) tracks down the Horde to an abandoned factory where he has four cheerleaders hostage to feed to the Beast personality (James McAvoy).
From Glass (2019): While David confronts Kevin, a group of armed men intervene. Now locked in a mental facility with Elijah, the two find their superhuman abilities being questioned by Ellie, a secretive psychiatrist.

The thing I always liked best about this scene is how they have superhuman strength, but clearly have no training about how to fight whatsoever. They throw a table at each other and when that doesn't work, they go straight to grappling and try to just overpower the other person with raw strength. Makes it feel way more grounded and not at all like a comic book.
And in a world where superpowers aren't a thing they would both be used to always being stronger than anybody they fight, in which case they would never need to do more than grapple
I always liked the concept that they were both insanely strong and durable but not to an over the top degree.
When I was 7 years old my uncle tore open a steel door to a smoker that a kid was trapped in. I will never forget the image of the bent steel . Changed me as a person thinking anything is possible. Exactly what they don't want you to know
@@user-hs4bw4jy7f We are capable of superhuman feats. Not like invincibility or being impervious to bullets, but superhuman nonetheless. Just think of all the things our ancestors had to do for us to exist on this planet. Some of them probably went toe to toe with neanderthals and won.

@@preciousotoakhia9789 yeah, they were definitely sad about it. If you think hard, one of the cheerleader that were hit by the table could’ve had powers. Because no person could just stand right up after taking a hit like that 🤔

Adrenaline could have also played a part, if it was IRL...
I love this scene, although I find it hilarious how them crashing through the window suddenly switched the world to night time.

It is night. Look at the sky through the broken window, it's dark. The street light reflecting through the foggy windows make it look like day time 3:54
@@LivinglikeJay-iq3io - I think they mean that when "Edwig" was entering the underground, it was still daytime, even if the sun was obviously setting down pretty fast.
... but at the end it looks like it's been nighttime for a while.
So yeah, it kinda is a "movie mistake", but I can suspend my disbelief since since rain was coming and lots of clouds were above them, so the sun could have been clouded and... you know.

They don't call him Shamalamadingdong when it comes to these 3 films. They are fantastic.
He's actually been redeeming himself lately. It seams like all the successes went to his head but those years of failure humbled him. I still can't forgive him for that Avatar movie though.
@@MuataranThe Avatar movie wasn't his fault, it was a studio hack job. He actually tried to fight against all their nonsense but no director could've saved it.

Its a great touch that the Beast doest know how to respond to Overseer not backing down
Many predators operate solely on instinct. Their food source needs to respond a certain way to trigger their "predator drive"
Overseer wasnt backing down like prey. When two apex animals meet one another and intimidation displays and attacks dont work, theres a sort of silence that forms as both creatures prepare to end it as quickly as possible
I feel like this scene should have taken place much later in the film, the face off between the 2 should have built up more
Idk, if I was the cop captain, and Just watched 2 dudes fall out a 20-30 foot window and just get up.... I'd let them fight.

What I felt watching this scene for the first time on the big screen is what I should have felt when I first saw Batman and Superman together in a feature film.

This series had so much going for it. The slow paced development was enjoyable and I was intrigued to see where the characters ended up. What a shame it ended the way it did.

I agree they were both good the beast never had it easy it was hard because he had so many personalitys he had good in him but Mr glass brain washed him wich made him mad so the beast was not a bad guy after all

The part that got me in the feels the most during this scene was the music being briefly played when David uses the crowbar to free the girls and slowly recedes halfway back into the shadows. This somewhat main theme is also used later on when David gets his cape/poncho back (Belief) and later on when his son looks over his shoulder and starts to tear up, as he sees a man watching news footage on his phone showing his father bending gigantic steel bars to save the SWAT guys, etc. (Origins/End Credits). 🙂💙

Homeless would have been gone when he took his shirt off. Maybe even when he was walking up. They now when a freak shows up.

@@Mopark25 it isn't perfect, that has always been such a silly response. Killing David is bad enough, but drowning him in a puddle? Ridiculous. Not to mention the secret society never mentioned before this movie that just suddenly exists. Not hinted to in Unbreakable, not mentioned in Split, and suddenly just has people everywhere. I'll even give credit where it's due, Unbreakable and Split are probably two of Shyamalan's best movies, but he just couldn't resist fucking it up with a twist at the end. It's like the call of the void, he just can't help it.
@DarkJak337 Unbreakable and Split are simply origin stories for these "superhuman" people.
This movie is about doubting and then confirming their abilities.
The secret society is the ultimate confirmation and also explains why Elijah, David and Kevin have never seen anyone else who also have such unique and extreme capabilities.

I remember reading somewhere that he even didn't want to make the third installment, but was convinced otherwise by Bruce and Samuel.

For me Unbreakable was Shyamalan’s finest work. The soundtrack 🔥🔥🔥
Split was an excellent entry in The Unbreakable Universe.
I found Glass disappointing, I can’t properly articulate what I expected but the film that was released wasn’t it.
I find consolation in the 1st two films.
I feel you, brother. There was just.... Something. Like with how good Unbreakable and Split was, Glass just didn't feel up to par despite it having everything it should. Weird feeling to have, right? But there it is.
Glass is actually brilliant, but it's purposefully anticlimactic. Remember the entire series is a deconstruction of our relationship with superhero media. Shyamalan is questioning what we expect from these films and what exactly we find heroic about people like David.
Highly recommend you read Film Critic Hulk's piece on it. I was disappointed at first as well but his write up completely flipped me on it.
They really should have had more of these types of scenes, the end of the movie was a total letdown , otherwise if was a really intriguing film like the others before it

I feel like these powers are a bit more ambiguous, we never get to see David max out his strength or invulnerability. For example he never got shot at in the movie.

Worst ending of any movie I've ever seen
but why? there are literally 3 twists. The first : is that there is a secret organization that has been killing people with super powers for 10 thousand years.
The second : is the fact that Mr. Glass created The Beast and The third, at the end of the movie, he successfully foiled Dr. Staple's plans and revealed to the world that there are superheroes.
The ending was quite satisfying imo
@@BOUX998 Having twists doesn't mean being a good movie. Nothing was expanded upon and the 3 main characters barely interact with each other. The film is a disaster, insane potential wasted.
