I love seeing all your fish so brightly coloured and so well cared for thanks for the other clip on baby goldfish it was lovely to see how a fry progressed from a tiny sliver to a fully grown fish, your videos are informative ,funny and interesting I look forward to seeing more videos keep up the goodwork😊🐟🐟🐟
That music with the goldfish having something stuck in its mouth, I wondered why does he play it at the start of videos all the time, But that music synced so perfectly, it was no longer a mistake and matched well with the music
Hi Luke, thank you for sharing this clip with the community. Goldfish are fine with cold water as long as no sudden temp change. Probably Only 3 situations that you need to a heater in the tank: (1) treating goldfish with white spots to other infectious diseases, (2) breeding goldfish fry, (3) if you import Thai Oranda Thai Ranchu from Thailand during Fall or Winter seasons
RUclips keeps recommending these videos and this is the first time one of his videos is up within a few hours. THIS MAN IS B-E-A-U-TIFUL, OMG I COULD GET LOST IN HIS EYES!
I keep my goldies outside in a bathtub pond. The first year I didn't heat it. They were okay in the cold water....they don't eat or swin around a lot. I'm in northern CA so it doesn't get super cold in the winter. HOWEVER, now I keep a heater in there in the winter. Here's why....when it finally warmed up my fish caught so many sicknesses. I was treating and problem solving for at least 6 months! I lost quite a few that I really loved. During the years that I had them in the house I never lost any fish....so it was a very stressful thing. I found out that the cold water really lowers their immune system, and then when the water heats up and all the bad stuff (bacterian parasites, etc.) rev up as well, and the fish just catch everything that comes along. Not to mention my plants died in the winter and their not cheap to replace. (I have some pots in the bottom with java fern and hornwort) They are doing well outside now....and very fat and happy.
I remember my parents frantically rushing back to the store to check on the goldfish and koi outside during the winter. Gotta make sure the ponds don’t freeze over
I agree too. ( on the handsome guy..well I am old too I am 42 and I have a voice of a kid. If I get a random phone call from someone I don't know 9 out of 10 times they ask me if I could hand the phone over to my mommy or daddy..lol )
We have Thai orandas in an outdoor pond that thrive through the winter. It is 36” deep and we run the waterfall year round. We also run an aerator just to make sure we never have freeze over. We have temperatures in the teens with negative 0 wind chill but fortunately not for long extended times.
@@polygonalduck explain to me why that is ok he could crush some goldfish! Plus fish could get poisoned by chlorine from taking a shower and the soap on his hands and body would do the same thing
I would LOVE to see a video on your outdoor system. Like maybe how you/others built that greenhouse, and what all went to setting up those above ground ponds! I would love to know.
I found you by accident binging on reptile channels--so glad I did! Never thought I could fall in love with fish!!! Give the guys 'n gals a hug and kiss for me, and I most definitely will by getting some Lil D merch! ❤
they actually will survive winter.. they are less hardy for sure, too much heat or cold COULD kill them, but for the most part its ok. I've had fancy goldfish in my backyard pond in PA for years and they survive the winters.. surprisingly, black moors are especially hardy.. like he said tho, you can not allow the top of the pond to solidify. there needs to be an opening for gas exchange..
I believed you knew what you are doing to keep your fish happy. But,I am so happy to hear this video. I have been wondering how your beautiful precious goldies survive outside. Thank you for letting Us know.
That sucks. I keep goldfish and swordtails, guppies etc year round outdoors in Australia without any heating, it would cost a fortune to heat those ponds here in Australia. I dont even heat my indoor tropical tanks, my house is climate controlled to always be around 72F The coldest we get in the winter were I live overnight would be around 40F but we get to temps of over 104F in the summertime, so I have to give my ponds shade cover.
I know this a long shot but imagine someone sends a vid of this to KOT4Q (basketball YTer, but also an Illinois guy). I bet Kenny would love to have a fish named “Fish of the third tank” or something lol or “Kenny Fisham”

As someone who broke a pot and received a very similar look from my own mom, _I felt that_
lolol
It made me sad 😞
I wanted him to just fix it instead of getting a new one.
I never thought I’d hear someone say they have an “outside greenhouse goldfish system”, but I find it awesome
I want a greenhouse. Also lived in MN most my life, can’t stand the winters, so moved to TN.

Thank you for this. I hate the frozen nature as well and need to do something like this. Some plants might enjoy a similar space as well!
What is it like heating those ponds in the winter? I mean money wise. Are you using a lot of electricity or does the green house do most of the work?
Also, do you have an emergency power source in case the electric goes down? I’m a native Floridian - I can’t even imagine living in snow!

First thing I thought is …your mom is going to be pissed. 😂 She is a good sport. Buy her some All Clad with some of your sweet RUclips money.
We had a heater explode once. My parents never told me why but luckily all of our fish were ok. We did have a stunned cichlid but he got better.

This man's commitment to his goldfish is commendable. Keep doing you bro
I just realized how pretty blue his eyes are. Gorgeous.
Awe, you’re in Illinois!! We are having a cold winter this year. I hate it!!
That song in the beginning went perfectly
IM FROM N ILLINOIS TOOOO!!!!! It's been too cold for me my driveway is covered in ice.
I have to say that summer here is so very much worse. 42 Celsius the other day. I had to get a chiller for my new goldfish.
