Ammonium nitrate is being blamed for the massive explosion in Beirut. About 2,700 tonnes had apparently been stored in a port warehouse for years.

This alone wouldn't make this big of a blast. The big fireball you could see in the videos of the explosion are caused by some kind of bomb the military stored there Ammoniumnitrat won't make a fireball.
