I just bought these same cams. I’m putting them in a 11’ Vic . I saw you ran these on stock motor. Did you put shaved intake valves? Or you just straight up degreed and dropped them in? Sorry a lot of people claim ptv with these cams and stock motors. Just asking before I throw them in and mess up a motor. Btw sounds great!
Well I actually used a timing chain wedge, left the sprockets timed in the gears and installed the cams without degreeing them. I hadnt done a ton of research at that point to see that lolerances could be off enough when ground to be a concern. so the answer is no to degreeing, and no to custom intake valves. This engine has over 40,000 miles on it since. I wouldnt advise anyone to do it the way I did. I would definitely degree them and install valve springs if I were to go back and do it all over again. With that being said I drive the car HARD always and it just wont die...lol
Don't know what the cams by themselves would make. I had it dynoed with a combination of mods. I know without long tube headers they won't be worth much. On a side note I think a stock p71 like mine made in the ballpark of 225 to the wheels
Justin Galvan you will definitely need a tune to run a cams like these. You will need a custom tune. There is no "out of the box" pre written program for a crown vic built this way. I had this car dyno tuned with sct programming and an sct x3 handheld device to upload the tune. At the time it cost about $700
Soo any Dyno shop might be able to help me with this?? I'm sorry I'm just very new to this. If I can figure all this out I'm gonna order the cams asap.
Where are you located? before you do anything I would research shops that do custom tuning in your area and reach out to them? let them know what your plans are and with what specific vehicle you are working with. Find out who is capable and also willing to tune a crown vic. also though, I would run Long tube headers and at least a lower rear gear if not a higher stall torque converter to get the most out this cam.

in this video it was headers 2.5 inch x pipe into dynomax bullets then into 2.5 inch tail pipes with another set of bullets as resonators and out at the bummber
Drivability has always been excellent. Throttle response is strong off idle and through the entire rpm range. You'll need a custom tune with these cams though. also I've only ever used at least the stock 11.25" Police Interceptor/vic sport/marauder 2400 stall torque converter. And at most, A smaller 9.5" up to 3700 stall. Also never used these cams with a rear gear any higher than a 3.27.
@@sinkire8235 I've never driven it nice through an entire tank to be able to calculate. not as bad as you'd think. definitely worse with a 4.30 rear gear though.
Not really sure. They are old AFS Cobra R replicas. 17x10.5 Got them cheap off Craig's List. never tried to measure the offset. just stick out past wheel well maybe an inch.
The Cams are "Hi-tech stage 2" 550/500 lift, 234/230 duration. Exhaust in this video is obx headers/xpipe into dynomax bullets before the rear axle then custom bent tail pipes with one more set of bullets as resonators before exiting at the rear bumper
Wow I'm definitely doing this. I didn't realize how simple it was. Thanks for the feedback many
Lol, always thought it would be fun to do this to a Crown Vic. It comes across cooler than I thought it would. Thanks for the video.
Man that ride sounds awesome

What do you mean degree them
Nice. Im from Minnesota as well and I own a 2007 CVPI. Maybe ill have to talk mods with you. Im really interested in doing a manual transmission swap.
Anytime. Didn't really do anything out of the ordinary. mainly a lot of bolt ons.
mywifefarts yeah ill most likely stick to bolt ons and a tune. Do you know what kind of numbers your cars putting down now?
281/297. Dyno tuned by Todd Hardy and Casey Wittmer.
I just finished my manual swap on my car i would highly recommend it
And now we know your license plate number 🤣
The fuck u gunna do with it. Point it out to a friend if you happen to recognize it in public?
What size tires are those on the back, they look wicked...?
315/35/17
Is this car still alive?
where did you buy these cams from I've looked everywhere and can't find them
www.hitechmotorsport.com/
There are similar grinds out there from other companies too.
thanks man I really appreciate it
Glad to help!
How much power did the cams add and how much did it cost? Did you install them yourself?
Don't know what the cams by themselves would make. I had it dynoed with a combination of mods. I know without long tube headers they won't be worth much. On a side note I think a stock p71 like mine made in the ballpark of 225 to the wheels
@@JAMIE_ATKINS ok, thanks!
@@charlie_nolan absolutely!
Does it need a tune? And if so, what kinda programmer would work?

Did you buy a stall?
Yes spent about 1200.00 on a hopefully unbreakable Circle D
Lol I was looking for a cam i didnt have to buy a stall for
Demetrius Valentine i ran this cam for a few years with a 3.73 rear gear and a tune and it worked well with the stock 2400 stall
How much were your cams? I dont see prices
I bought them used. $250 I think it was. Shipped from Canada. A set new will run you $600+

mywifefarts I live in Indiana on Michigan border. About an hour from Chicago.
Ok. I'm not really familiar with what shops may be in that area. I had some local guys that actually referred me to the shop I used.
What cams did you run ? Specs?
Hi-Tech stage 2

Stock exhaust or what you got
in this video it was headers 2.5 inch x pipe into dynomax bullets then into 2.5 inch tail pipes with another set of bullets as resonators and out at the bummber
Stock motor?
stock internals. stock crank, rods, pistons.
How is the drive-ability with these cams ? looking to do a cam swap in my merc. but still need good daily manners!!

So just swapped cams and tunned, that's it?
Basically, engine wise anyway. It's got headers and a Huge throttle body
@@JAMIE_ATKINS a huge throttle body? From what car or what?
Hp gain from the cams and tune ?
How much did your mpg go down?
With cams, headers/exhaust, throttle body/plenum and tune, about 55 wheel hp
@@sinkire8235 I've never driven it nice through an entire tank to be able to calculate. not as bad as you'd think. definitely worse with a 4.30 rear gear though.
305 tires in the rear?
315 but the rim offset doesn't fit right.
What offset are you running?

Oh ok... Yeah I've noticed a decrease in oe aftermarket wheels. Especially for the years that fit our cars.
