I worked construction the summer '73 in the Crest. You needed a baseball mitt to catch all the flying beer battles at the intersection where the Shamrock was.
I remember as a kid being fascinated by the clubs and the music spilling out onto the street. Way too young then to go in, and by the time I was legal, the music had changed and I was no longer interested in the atmosphere. I saw a lot of personalities at the Surf Club in the 1960s as the owners had a 'mature' entertainment policy and was a real sit down club that a mom could bring minor children to--Bobby Rydell, Frank Sinatra Jr., and in a last minute fill in, actor Pat O'Brien who filled every performance with his Hollywood stories and Irish humor!
I spent a lot of time, and probably some money, at the Shamrock, Fairview, Oasis, & Maggie Mae's, during the summers of '73, '74, '75, & '76. Any of my old compadres here who worked at Read & Son Sandwich Shop on The Boardwalk, give me a shout-out !
Played The Fairview with Bare Moon , house band for the summer of ‘72. Great memories-thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the great memories….enjoyed the music there after spending hours across the street at the Shamrock…Wildwood will never be the same!

Love love this ❤ I grew up this era
I spent the summer of '74 in Wildwood, and although I was too young to go into the bars, I still had a blast. Great memories.
Thanks for the comment 😎
All of those places are now gone, some recently.

Wow. 7 nights a week. In summer of 1974 I performed with Sal Masi and the Untouchables 7 nights a week at the Lucky Club. :)

$5.50 to see Elton John!?! That's outrageous! Anything over $4.75 and they're just gouging you.
