Love Kingroon. I have run through 109 Rolls of PETG and 273kg of PLA since June of 2023. Love their $89 USD 10kg with Free Shipping Deals when they come up. I have ZERO issues with PETG on a Textured PEI sheet and have used ZERO glue.
I think you're supposed to add glue to the build plate with PETG to act as a barrier, not to make it stick even more as in the case of PLA. Also putting build plate in the freezer will help you release anything. Be careful pulling off build plate as you can destroy the surfce texture. Also you might want to look into using PETG on your support interface (interface only). You can set this in Bambu Studio. PETG doesn't stick to PLA so no scarring of the underside. Enjoying your channel.
This is very true. The glue stick creates a barrier that makes the PETG release from the build plate alot easier, and PETG is a great material for supports.
You can use many different bed adhesives, I use 3DLAC, I bought an upgrade pack from my vendor when I bought my X1C Combo, included in this pack was a bottle of the 3DLAC which works just great and seemingly lasts forever, the benefit being that the part isn't gunked up like it is with gluestick, I only use it with PETG and ABS though.
When I print PETG on the textured plates I either do a fresh plate wipe with alcohol, or I'll apply a nice coat of windex on the plate. #1 most important thing for releasing PETG from build plates is waiting 10-30 minutes for the plate to cool. Ususally they realease themselves at that point.
Love the video. To get PETG to release easier, try dropping your bed temperature by 5 or 10 degrees C. I print on a textured PEI sheet at 75 for the bed, 260 for the nozzle, and it releases easily. I print at 200mm/sec with a volumetric limit of 30 cubic mm/sec. These values will depend on your printer of course. Also, try raising your Z offset by 0.025mm or 0.05mm. If the first layer is printed too close to the bed that will also make it hard to remove. I print mostly in PETG. It has a slightly higher melting point and is slightly more flexible than PLA. It has low creep which means it doesn't bend under load over time. I find PETG generally more durable than PLA. The best thing I like about it is that the filament doesn't break when I'm loading it.
Another great video! Thanks for the information and laughs. Beautiful work, amazing designer find, and another filament maker as an option. Keep being awesome.
Having PLA and PETG and using Bamboo with AMS you could print the truck box and supports using one filament with interface layer from the other materials with zero Z distance. Works great! Removing the supports are effortless and no bumps etc
When I print PETG I use PLA as an interface layer for my supports and base. Everything pops off super clean & easy. Loved this video and am now following Skipper07.
Best Glue i have ever come across is Q-bond. comes with filler which is hardens instantly, and set up very fast without. it's what i use for everything around the house.
I like the kingroon filament I have been using it ever since I got that 10 pack you mentioned. I’ve been using them for the past 3 years. Glad you had a chance to try them out. Love your videos, keep it out.
I suggest that you use ASA for something that is going to be outside like the bird houses. 3d gloop is great for gluing plastic together. Glue stick to release prints from the bed. Just my two cents.
@@gizmofactory That is strange... I just did it the other day just fine. I would check to see if your slicer, printer, and AMS are up-to-date on their firmware. If all else fails, you can set the PLA or PETG as PLA or PETG and adjust the filament profile settings to match the specified bed and nozzle temperatures for the support interface filament. Its how people did it before but I have never needed to. Just to make sure you should be setting the PETG or PLA as a support interface not the support itself. Not sure if that could be the reason you're unable to use support interfaces with these filaments but give that a try. Hopefully that helps.
i had to learn about PETG the hard way. as others have said you need to put glue on the bed, i've used both regular glue stick and the bambu liquid glue.
Hi Macy, I love your videos. Something I use on my bamboo printers for PLA and every other type of filament is the super cheap hairspray from Walmart. Suave Max Hold Hairspray is what I use. It helps hold things to the bed, but it also helps release PETG when the print is done.
If you don't have much use for the petg, use the support interface material for pla They will not bond to each other and I hear works even better than support material.
I've got the fun of unboxing 4 pallets of mystery filament on Tuesday. I bought it from a company in the UK that went into liquidation recently. All I know is there's 603 rolls of various filaments.
@@Swainhammer13 I have that problem. Most of it will be resold, but a some of it will be added to my own inventory for sure. I know some of it at least is aerospace grade stuff that I couldn't even print on my Bambu's due to the temperature requirements.
I print a lot of PETG on the textured PEI sheets on my A1 printers; no glue or anything fancy, I just let the plate completely cool before removing the prints.
Kingroon is awesome. I print a ton of kingroon petg. Kingroon is just a sunlu rebrand so it’s the same filament as sunlu which is a known reliable brand. For releasing from the bed I print petg at a lower temp. Usually 230 and it pops off fine on the textured plates for me. You can also use glue stick. I use hairspray too and it helps with adhesion but also allows it to pop off pretty easy
Is this true?? I'm curious how you got that info of it just being a rebrand. Same manufacturer doesnt always mean its the same exact filament though. Could be a different formulation.
I flex my build plate to get the petg models off it. Works all the time. Also, the bambu scraper can help get underneath once the print has started lifting.
You can add glue, hairspray, and other such stuff to make PETG easier to remove from the bed. Prusa makes special beds for PETG not sure about Bambu. If you aren't in a rush you can skip all those extra layers and just let the PETG cool, you'll start to hear it cracking off the bed in an hour or so.
I don't use PETG on my textured PEI sheets if I can help it (and never on my smooth PEI), it has a tendency to bond too well. If I have to print it, I do it on the X1C's Engineering plate with a coating of Magigoo to serve as a release agent. Glue stick will do the same job for PETG on PEI. Side note, I don't print much PETG anymore. I've switched to glass filled ABS for prints that need to be durable/heat resistant. It's AMS compatible (according to Bambu) without much warping and very good dimensional stability.
I have had the same issue with PETG on my A1. Parts themselves usually come off fine after the plate cools. But any supports seem to stick way too well. The only way I have been able to get them off is to heat the bed up to 100 C. Then I can usually scrape the supports off.
recently got filament from ali, some usun which a lot of people use , and some unknown brand. the unknown brand needs to be printed at 220c but works great.(black) all pla btw. comes to just below 10 euro per kilo. best deal i can find here in europe.
for petg - aquanet hairspray. I like better than glue stick. glue globs up. I spray a little bit and rub onto build surface until i feel a little bit of drag with the papertowel. give that a whirl, just don't spray hairspray with the build plate still on your printer. Pick up and move away from printers you don't want the sticky stuff on your printer.
I bought 10 spools of Kingroon for around $80-$90 bucks. It’s been good but i have had issues. Some of which has been trial and error and a learning curve for myself.
Use the Engineering plate for PETG if you have one. This is the best plate for this purpose. Nice adhesion and easy detach after it cooled. No glue stick, hairspray or other releasing agents needed - just use a clean plate washed with some laundry detergent. Set plate temperature 70C for the first layer and 80C for other layers. It's a shame Bambu no longer sell these plates...
Kingroon is great - I bought it initially just as a cheap filament to make my large (and filament requiring) sturdy tools drawers. And imagine my surprise, when I saw that it beat everything else I have. Spectrum, 3DE, Bambu Lab, Anycubic... all print worse than Kingroon, and as people who know Bambu Lab PLA filament know, it's definitely very good - but Kingroon is better. At around 60% the price!
Rainbow filament is a few meters of one color, then afew of the next color, etc. If you want a good range of the colors like the big pumpkin had, you have to print a few of the smaller size pumkins at once to use enough of the filament to get the next color change. They usually tell you how many meters between changes, so you can slice a plate and look at how many meters it will use, then divie by the amount of filament before a color change, to see how many colors you will get in the print. You can find rapid color change filament for smaller items.
Use the purple school glue stick to make a thin layer on the bed so the PETG wont bond to it. Always do this if you have glass bed or it can bond permanently and brake part of the glass if you try to force it off.
Also, you could leave the filament in the dryer and put it next to your printer and feed it directly into it and let it print and stay dry at the same time
I print almost exclusively in PETG... The build plate issue, make sure you use the textured build plate... try and put the build plate in the freezer for the PETG. I use glass build plates and that works for them. leave in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
You can use PETG for support interface since the 2 don’t mix ☺️
PETG as a support interface to PLA or vice versa, is the cheat code to nice finishes with support 🤘
