    Honestly their environment is too toxic for any driver. Maybe DR is the only one who can do well since he is Horner's favorite child. You cannot have 3 drivers in the recent past having same issues, at some point you have to portion blame to the team. In a world where Piastri-Lando, Lewis-George and Charles-Carlos are within a tenth of each other is proof enough the second seat is neglected at RB. Also doesn't help when Helmet Marko is throwing racist stereotypes at your second driver.

    Sergio Perez is a weird driver to assess. His junior career was nothing special, but when he was in midfield teams he was beating highly-rated teammates and scoring podiums. But then at Red Bull, he only had 1 good season out of 4. Perhaps he is better in mediocre cars than in good cars, but I'm sure he's not as bad as he is right now. Maybe it's a psychological issue. Who knows.

    • @BMPHF1

    Maybe Checo should consider swapping seats with Daniel.
    Just as Checo is struggling in a car that has an oversteer bias, Daniel is equally struggling in a car with an understeer bias.
    I can bet that if Checo swapped to the VCARB01, not only will he have a car that will put him in the P6-P10 range, but he will be able to comfortably follow Yuki if not outright pass him compared to Daniel.

    • @grogery1570
      @grogery1570 Месяц назад +1

      Not a bad idea, especially as Daniel won't feel any attachment to RB after they ruined his race with a badly timed pit stop, which almost seemed like it was done just to ruin his race.

  • @Jurenic
    @Jurenic Месяц назад +19

    I've been saying this for a while. It's not only the driver skill, it's how the team develops their car around their fastest driver that matters. If they developed around Perez, the results would be flipped (maybe not as much one sided as they are now). That's why nobody wants to face Max in a RedBull. The same was the case with Vettel. They had the car developed around him and then he vent to Ferrari and suddenly isn't dominant anymore. Same with Schumacher. I believe the true talent currently are Alonso and Hamilton.

    • @BMPHF1
      @BMPHF1  Месяц назад +6

      Every driver has their preferences. The best are obviously able to adapt to anything, but you’ll only see their absolute best performance when the car is suited to their liking. Car and driver in perfect harmony😊

    Good video mate. Agree with most of what you said. I think people underestimate the significance of the car itself. I mean, apart from few drivers (you all know who they are each season), the rest is top 0.0001%. Those tenths of a second per lap are usually more up to the car than the driver. Sure there are mistakes especially during 60, 70 lap races, but im sure quali times would be a lot closer if done on a simulator or an identical car. Just look at max this season. As soon as he started not having a best car, he cant win. His main quailty is consistency and being able to get top 5 even when things dont go his way (unlike some who win, then get 16th, then 7th...). But to say he is few levels above everyone... Yeah, no, your car needs to be in a tip top shape as well.

    My hypothesis is that redbull is an extremely toxic team. It looks to me like Perez always performs well after breaks away from the team eg start of new season and after summer break. Best evidence of this is how redbull treats drivers. Look at what they did to Gasly and Nick. The only drivers not treated like garbage are Max and annoyingly Danny ( complete waste of f1 seat IMO, Lawson should have that seat)
    To be honest, I think F1 in general is very toxic. A sport where your biggest rival is your teammate is kinda super messed up when you think about it.

    It's because he knows red bull would never let him win the drivers championship over max. He knows what happened in 2021 told to retire his car while under the safety car,which he was shocked to hear but complied. The moved max upto 2nd directly behind lewis. They where in a tight constructors championship and they just threw it away on purpose. 150 million constructors prize i believe. Just for a "chance " for max to win the drivers championship.... i wont even get into that I'll be arguing with thousands of max fans .so anyway back to my point Perez just dosent care ,he knows he'll never become world champion there which will be highly demotivating,if the car isn't the fastest he just dosent try anymore.he knows all of red bulls secrects and what happened in 2021,plus these Secret parts they had which have only been banned about 6 races into the season... seens odd eh.... they know he knows EVERYTHING hes basically untouchable.

    Unfortunate but I think Checo's struggles can be boiled down to the issue of not being able to extract performance from the car(RB19&RB20) . It's completely the opposite; he simply doesn't know how to control the pace of that Red Bull. The car is so far above his talent ceiling that the only result is an inconsistent, dangerous mess.
