You are so right! My husband and I say that we're so happy that we got married when we did. There was Facebook, but there was no pressure to put on a show with wedding videography or spend way over budget just so other people could see.
I truly believe in living in the moment! No videos. No pics. Nothing goes on my that I deem personal. That being said, I’m looking to branch out of my four walls with my floral content. However, it will still be based on my niche. I do want to incorporate more of my personality. I absolutely love your content and the way that you present it to your audience. ❤❤❤

As a lifestyle vlogger, I was able to easily find that boundary between my content and my life based on my family’s archival history. I grew with a mom who was the “documenter” so I’ve always been able to experience the moment fully and still record it.
And by establishing my content pillars (PhD life, Fitness, Wellness, Productivity), it makes it easy to decide what to and not to share in my vlogs!

So I decide on my personal goals and look at my real calendar first and then I make my content calendar based on those priorities (instead of choosing content and living based on it)
Having levels of transparency is also great! What I share on RUclips versus my IG close friends versus my finsta makes it really clear where my personal comfort line between life and content is
Thank you for this message I needed to hear this. I have a lot of friends and family members that I don’t even know that they’re watching my channel but when I go somewhere have a party or celebrate something I always get feedback. So true! Needing that much validation doesn’t allow us to truly be in the moment or present. There is definitely a fine line when content is your full time job. It definitely forces you to set healthy boundaries.
Thank you for articulating that so well. We are loosing healthy boundaries and it is having an impact on our mental health as a whole
This is so true if i go to a concert you get a couple clips but i’m being emerged into the experience. But it’s a double edge sword because i definitely want to share that experience lol

This is a great convo. My take is that some people created their identity through their social media and didn’t have their own beforehand. For me, I started with keeping it all education and business but I enjoy showing other parts of my life. But I feel pressure to keep consistent (and to make it look “aesthetic”) with showing that but I don’t always want to. So I am definitely conflicted often because all business and all education is no longer enough.

I started posting early instagram days, and my content was always just very in the moment personal stuff etc. Then my RUclips content was when I lived in my car, so couldn’t be more personal. An I definitely had a huge crisis moment when I wanted to be private for a second. Now I’m at a wall trying to come back - because while I have so much personal footage stockpiled. I don’t know how personal I want to be. But this is also my “ public private “ outlet if that makes sense.
I always wanted to be a lifestyle person, because mental health seems to be my interest when it comes to filming. But I’m also like mmmmm I don’t want the outside opinions at the same time.
See, exactly...when you're a youtuber/influencer. I wish to be one but I also don't want to do all that sharing but I do at the same time. Lol double edge sword. I'm so used to just enjoying my own life's moments to myself. Congrats on the new addition sweetheart! 🎉Def noticed. Beautiful 🎉
Great Message. I tell my Younger Family Members that all the time. They dont have to over share and seek validation from strangers all the time on these platforms. The Mature Women in our Family cringe at how sensitive our Younger people are about what some stranger says about them. They get so caught up in pleasing strangers, capturing the shot and not living in the moment, and we dont like it. I appreciate your maturity and thanks for sharing that great message. I was just thinking this before it even started. Not that I don’t enjoy and tune in to Sips of Success, but it reminds me of a podcast/brand I wanted to start called Let’s Have a Conversation. And the idea was centered around having civil, raw and meaningful conversations about topics like this. These are great and real conversations to have, especially for content creators and aspiring content creators
I love this! This has been a struggle for me - I'm not a content creator but I aspire to be. I do, however, work in marketing and feel so much social media fatigue 😖

I understand the dilemmas you mentioned, but I haven’t experienced any of them…possibly because I’m still very early in my content creation journey. I recently started a personal brand sharing my experiences as a physician-scientist, social entrepreneur, life strategist, author, & speaker. Because there are so many layers to what I do, I feel like I have many topics to choose from and don’t feel constricted in or pressured by my content. For now, I’m documenting relevant experiences and preparing to share what feels authentic to me and potentially valuable for others. This video gave me some idea of pitfalls to avoid when planning my content. So helpful! Thank you!
I’m curious to hear how creators who are moms but not focused on family/motherhood content (like me! and Erin!) find balance and set boundaries for keeping certain aspects of their personal and especially family life private.
