49:48 Love Lando talking about how relatable it is to want people to explode when they make you angry and it cutting to Connor with the most concerned look on his face proving that, no not everyone relates to this notion 😂
"Turn in to a beautiful butterfly~ .... Get back here" I had TEARS in my eyes.
58:53 this will live rent free in my head for how dumb and funny it is, and that lando could not stop laughing for a good minute
57:00 The whole interaction where Lando gave Connor a look after he said Xenomorph followed by Connor's "you haven't given it a good look" took me out 🤣🤣
Trying not to burst out laughing while listening to this at work.
"I think Landon has to be stopped" is an apt conclusion after that entire caterpillar conversation, thank you lmao
lando needed to be stopped so badly kane put the n back on his name 😭
Lando be like "because i don't want to..." and then proceed to list a dozen ways to k-ll a person off the top of the dome 😂
That’s the most professor Lando thing I’ve ever heard him say if I had clones they’d fuck
I saw the thumbnail and was waiting for the moment when they talk about bug's life, but I would never have expected it to be in such context 😭
The demogorgin, somehow, being more reasonable in Lando's eyes than Xenomorph due to lethality is MIND BOGGLING. 😂
Opens mouth.
Closes mouth.
I don't know what I expected.
It is a joy seeing Lando take himself out with the wild shit that he says
If the thumbnail is clickbait I’ll cry (I’m expecting Bugs Life). Update: I regret saying anything.
"Get back here" - Professor Lando
I just got to that part right after I saw ur comment. Will never see that movie the same again LOL
@@TeaTimeLethe On this day, Lando ruined my life 😭. Rip to my favorite movie.
58:56 here ya go... enjoy ;)
58:53 i can't breathe
(happy 10th episode🎉)
1:04:20 connor having to add that he doesn't want Hopper like that is so funny
Happy 10 Episodes! The merch looks great! I can't wait to make the nuis do taxes together!
the "get back here" during Lando's.. er.. vivid depiction.. FULLY took me out lmao
after seeing the lando tweet yesterday, i can’t be a visual watcher anymore….. you’re doomed to be in the background while i play splatoon now (happy 10!!!!)
Progressively unhinge episode till the very end. That caterpillar part is 😂
Someone isn't aware that "The Hobbit" is subtitled "There and Back Again." They did take a lot of liberties to stretch out the third movie as much as they did, but there WAS a Battle of Five Armies over control of Erebor. And then Bilbo goes home. Sheesh.
I hadn't seen the movies, so when Connor said "that fight doesn't happen in the book" I was like "wait what???", so I came to the comments to see if I had lost my mind. I mean, it's been like 10 years since I read the books, so it could be possible 😂
He probably doesn't remember it because Bilbo gets smacked in the head in the first 5 minutes and wakes up after it's over
the Brandon story is so funny to me, people rarely get my name correctly so I just go like "i guess i'll be Laura today...."
This was NOT the direction I expected the podcast to go when I saw a bug’s life in the thumbnail.
58:53 if you haven't seen it yet and want to hear something wild
edit: THAT ENDING WAS FUCKIN HYSTERICAL
Lando saying he really likes Clone stuff really makes sense, it explains a lot from his previous job.
Read the title of this video and watch 42:41 mehehehehe (I'm joking 😂)
Congrats on the merch and 10th episode! Someone out there is psychoanalyzing you both from your clone talk lol.Great episode on various topics, and hearing Connor identify you from height was hilarious! Also this is the most unhinged episode ever, and just when you think it couldn't get any more insane we get the jestasks WTH IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO BOTH OF YOU DESERVE GETTING PIED THIS EPISODE NOT JUST LANDO 😭😂 Thank you for the fun episode! Have fun at Anime Impulse
A few years ago I learned that aphantasia existed and found it to be quite a shocking concept - because I've always experienced full color, audible reels in my brain, especially when I read. It boggles my mind that there are people who experience nothing visual with their brains alone.
I also learned more recently that some people don't "hear" their own voice in their minds. For example, when I read, I can hear what I think of as "my voice", not with my ears, but with my brain. Even while typing this, "my voice" is saying the words. I can also change it up at will... make it sound like another voice I've heard or even something made up entirely.
I discovered not too long ago that someone I've known for a couple of decades doesn't "see" anything in his mind. It's difficult for me to imagine what that is like. He also doesn't enjoy reading, and though I recommended 'The Magnus Archives' and 'Old Gods of Appalachia' to him a few days ago, because I love them so much, I'm not sure he'll enjoy these audio dramas either if he can't visualize what is being described.
Meanwhile, huge chunks of my time are filled with daydreaming, and I have been building several full blown installation art pieces in my head for nigh 30 years (simply because I will likely never have the funding or support systems to build them in the real world).
So now I'm wondering if the various levels of being able to visualize what is being read (from nothing at all to full color, full sound moving reels... or something in between) has a great deal to do with how much an individual enjoys reading to begin with?
True ! I literally imagine a movie in my head when I read, it's to the point that sometimes I have to restart a scene because the book described something different from how I imagined it
I get what you're describing. I occasionally have to pause while reading because my brain will want to go off in various "video" scenarios... developing several "what if" plot options, before continuing with the actual story as written. *grin*
The point he states around 17:28 feels related to the theme of the story The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas. Essentially delegating who experiences which side/amount of good/pleasure and work/suffering.
I’m having legitimate ass envy of Lando and Connor. The gym seems to be working well.
I legit thought Lando was gonna ominously point at us with the foam finger omg
Also happy 10 !! 🎉
The clone conversation made me think of the Multiple Man comics where his duplicates go off and have lives and families of their own, but I’m also glad The Prestige got a mention cuz that’s one of my favorite movies.
The Battle of Five Armies did happen, but in the book Bilbo was asleep/knocked out the whole time so that’s probably why Connor doesn’t remember reading it since the book is from Bilbo’s POV and he missed it all and Gandalf I think tells him what happened after. I loved the 1st Hobbit movie when it came out, but the whole prequel trilogy thing needs to stop 😅
Also movie villains & monsters always end up as someone’s ‘hear me out’ nowadays but it’s my first time hearing someone pick the German-sounding caterpillar from Bugs Life 😂
Happy 10th episode guys! You’ve reached the double digits!
Happy 10th episode, you've reached double digits! Those 10 weeks practically flew by, doesn't even feel that long ago since you started doing these but every single podcast episode has been an absolute pleasure to listen to! You two have come such a long way.
TBIJ merch looks awesome, both the shirts and the nuis are incredible and I loved those little jester hats that were created specifically for your own little guys! The ":) Death" on Connor's nui is already iconic, it fits like a glove. Going over what you talked about with the movies, some theater viewers tend to express their emotions more openly as they watch although it can disrupt the experience when they become too vocal. Still, there's enough classics here with people clapping or cheering but that particular image of Lando standing up after someone said "Boom" gave me a chuckle. Interesting premise with clones as a talking point, that engages conversation and makes you really think! The memory loss inducing accident stood out to me in particular, you retain what's your true self deep down yet in comes that copy of yourself with those same memories you once had and begins engaging in daily life acrtivities that are different from yours... Definitely something to mull over for a longer period of time because the idea of meeting another version of yourself could be such a shock at first yet on the other hand opens the door to many opportunities to your own personal advantage, i. e. being in two places or whatnot.
Reading books in highschool is such a universal experience to me, no matter how often I hear about what people used to read it always turns out to be either the coolest book ever written or the wildest. When you mentioned sleepovers, that was nostalgia incarnate to me. You end up going through some oldies each time without fail, I distinctively remember one I had that was 80s themed and we'd watch movies from that time. Couldn't miss superhero talk either, the idea of becoming omnipotent like Dr. Manhattan for even a split second is tempting but it also takes away the enjoyment. I like how you give these things a considerate amount of thought and hear your opinions on the matter. The last half with the questions corner took me the heck out, I'm still cry-laughing thinking about it. 😭🤣 Episode's title did not lie, it delivered and my god - how it delivered. Will never look at the caterpillar or the Pikmin boss the same. Not going to recover from this for a while, the German reference with the lederhosen ended me as a Bavarian I laughed so much, thanks for that one!
Thanks for another banger episode you guys, wishing you all the best for Anime Impulse and look forward to what you have for us next!
2:17 the money shot
I totally forgot about the shirt in that moment
First things first. Congratulations on hitting the episode 10 milestone and on the new merch! I would definitely pick it up for my birthday present on the 10th~(yes, I get the irony of saying this on the 10th episode. Haha) My thoughts on clones/doppelgangers are that despite them being duplicates of us that they would still be unique in some senses with desires to be their own person. Gundam Seed/Destiny and Yugioh Vrains touched on this with very dramatic results. It did get me emotional. Do I relate to the reading debacle? In some retrospect yes.
Not out of boredom but it's just setting aside the time to do so. Same with journaling (which I am just getting back into). Embellishment and passion/ being gripped by the content is needed. The comparison between Orlando Bloom and Luke Evans is valid. I'd even add Aiden Turner to the list. They look and sound so similar. To have them all in the Hobbit movie was mind blowing. Do you think it's because they are fellow countrymen and considered the atypical heroes? I couldn't say. Oh lord...I lost it by the end of the podcast.
I was laughing so hard I cried. No judgment. Chiefly because I am guilty too. Kind of like the Xenomorph thing I was drawn to Diablo. Yes, THAT Diablo. There's somethin' about the design. I just found it hot. Literally and figuratively speaking. So yes, I do understand. Very much so. Have fun at Impulse guys.
HAPPY 10th EPISODE!! You guys have been an absolute joy to watch so far!! 🥰
Happy 10th episode 🎉🎉🎉 It’s been really fun and entertaining watching and rewatching these episodes
You have to read these depressing sad stories in high school because you would never choose to read them and you have to, especially as a developing child, be taught to critically think about uncomfortable themes and ideas. You def learned something from it, even if you don't think you did.
Yeah, but it also teaches people that reading isn't fun by forcing them to read stuff they don't care about.
I can actually defend Lando on the Brandon/Bradley situation. I have been on the other end of this. A high school friend of mine had my name wrong for 2 years before I NOTICED.
Omg severance mention thats one of my favorite new shows!! Much to think about with the clone debates
from beginning to end, this episode is just insane. you go from moments like 2:17 to 56:00, and thats just when all hell breaks loose after that 🤣😭 congrats on the 10 eps!
10 weeks of freakiness
thanks boys
36:46 YES. I thought I was the only one!
12:06 Real. What else is there to do with your clone.
23:57 Coherence plot line
28:30 Wow… who couldn’t have seen you not reading the books coming? I’m shocked 😮 /s
31:46 I learned lessons from books as a kid. If you go into everything with a fixed mindset, of course you won’t change. I even learn new shit from reading romance novels.
41:08 JFK assassination is sus. Who’s the women with the polka dot dress??
55:43 “Hear me out” isn’t only about fictional characters
58:57 Any character from Bugs Life is a “Hear me out.” but Hopper though….
1:05:20 You probably have bodies buried rn. This didn’t make anyone feel better. Connor sleep with 1 eye open.
I've not watched Deliverance, but every time I hear the show described I can't help but think the moral isn't "are these two different people," but instead it's "enjoy your time inside and outside work, because this show exemplifies a world without either." The core concept is also confusing because does the work you know absolutely nothing outside of work? Then wouldn't work you not know anything you ever learned in school? The memory of what you learned of something like, would be vaguely connected to the classroom or people that you met. I don't think memory is clear and defined enough that you can simple only remember a small part of it. I'm not saying I think of my elementary school teachers every time I do simple addition, but especially for something like language, some words are so inexorably tied to a memory.
That episode discussion about clones is basically monogatari series last season thematic lol
I feel like if Landon ('s doppelganger) got Dr. Manhatten's powers he would just turn into the main character of Chronicle.
On an unrelated note, I've never been so glad I'm not a German caterpillar.
This episode of "Lando can't tell white people apart" lmao
This is my favorite episode yet.
Anyone else wishing they all of a sudden looked like the caterpillar from Bugs Life? /j
professor goondo must be stopped 😭
Happy 10!! thank you for the cake at the beginning
It's okay, Professor Lando. A mom at my school thinks my name is Veronica, and my name is Virginia & I haven't had the heart to correct her. It's been 3 weeks, lol
This thumbnail scares me…but the merch promo was a promising start 🥴
2:18 HEAR ME OUT!!
Damn already episode 10 😮
6:42 that's santa claus from spongebob laughing like that XD
53:54 I went to make a joke about Connor revealing himself as a single-cell prokaryotic life form, but them I double checked and found out they actually *don't* have a nucleus.
2:18 - He hit the flo', next thing you know, Profussy got low-low-low-lowwww~
Congrats on double digits!
58:54 yoo where did that come from 😂
i honestly assumed that you were both Severed specifically for this podcast, which explained a lot
So the Battle of the Five Armies does happen in the books. But its literally only a couple of pages.
But yes, most of the third hobbit movie was made up.
Im still mad they spread it across 3 movies and still no Tom Bombidil
The battle happens in the hobbit BUT Bilbo falls asleep or gets hit in the head or something really dumb and wakes up after the battle is over. The info about the battle literally only lasts like a paragraph that the movie stretches into like a whole hour of made up fighting
Weirdly enough that clone conversation was pretty close to both a book I read and a jest ask I was gonna submit.
Happy 10 🎉
High school books never felt depressing to me, cause none ever came close to reading Night by Elie Wiesel in middle school :) (It's a fantastic book but my god it's rough)
Oooh he looks good in black too
I would have to disagree with to kill a mockingbird take because that book was VERY impactful to my sister and I (not really for things fall apart though)
now THESE are some hear me outs
1:05:55
The vivid picture... oh god...
Ugh. I'm missing Anime Impulse for the 2nd time. I wanted to go last year. But, just like last year, I'm mainly missing out because my husband & I are trying to adopt yet another cat. Last year was our now pampered, sassy void cat. Now it's the friend she used to roam the night with, a grey tuxedo cat, who makes the roundest loaf I've ever seen in my life. He's a cinnamon roll if you stand it on its side. But we've been working for nearly 3 months trying to gain his trust. I'm sure I'll be forgiven on the account of _must gain second loaf_
Right from the beginning, the madness starts… 🤣 🍑
Lando what the fuck
dat gyatt
😂😂😂😂GOD I LOVE YOU GUYS!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I mean... Geiger's whole work is supposed to be the embodiment of the libido. While I don't agree, there's a reason people find the xenomorph sexy.
I missed my dads.
Overall, I don't think one should expect to remember everything and things like random high school English class books' plots, and overall it may be missing the point. I also think that the only thing that really matters from one's like 20 years of education, past high school, past uni, etc. is the ability to stop autopiloting and apply some critical thinking to something, and to constantly do this, and to constantly do it in the present.
All that to say, I think the real point of English class reading was more to instill a habit of reading and then that constant reading being kinda the diving board into critically thinking about the present, etc. If long time periods dedicated to books don't vibe with you or your current mental bandwith, then other small stuff is good too; just any kinda reading; even just any kinda present mindfulness and active thought really (honestly find myself making connections in my brain I never expected while reading the stupidest shitposts).
Clients mis-hear my name all the time or call me by a co-workers name and I don't correct them but it gets uncomfortable when they remember it wrong on future visits. He'll probably be embarrassed about not correcting you when he is confronted with his name...
By the way yes that guy looks like a hotter Orlando Bloom. Thought it was him for a while.
please sell the plushies with the hats at a later date i need them
Gyat damn
If clones aren't people with rights just because they don't have experiences, you're making weird statements about babies.
Horniest episode by far…
I see now why the fingering sticks were hidden away, ty 🫀
