Out of all dead musicians - this is the biggest loss for metal. Yes, I know, Ronnie, Dimebag, plenty of others, legends. But Chuck was an absolutely unique creator, dying so young, it makes this tragedy even sadder. But we'll keep the metal faith alive. Edit: Randy Rhoads, probably, is second closest. He, literally, had no time to shine on his own.
Absolutely. He was different than the other legends who have passed. He crafted lyrics and song structures that were so different, so unique, so fresh. He was truly a musical prophet.
Just amazing. And the drum monster live too. For me, Death helped create the death metal genre, but seemed to be restricted by it's boundaries, and within a couple of albums had morphed into something different - technical death metal or progressive death metal. Control Denied were the logical progression of this path, as Chuck felt his harsh vocals weren't suited to the style he was going for. Essentially a load of great music to listen to, and remember Chuck for the true genius that he was, and the amazing players he had around him. :)
RIP Chuck, you are a legend, and perhaps the father of death metal. Chuck has a surprisingly good live voice. And his ability to sing and play technical riffs is pretty impressive too. Symbolic is *easily* Death's best album IMO, in another class from their other albums, especially in regards to production. Hogland was just killing it on this album. Poor Gene then had to play this stuff live.
@Dax Bradshaw You Could Argue That , But Death Had An E.P When They Were Known As Mantas In 1984 , They Also Had A Track "Death By Metal" Possessed Seven Churches Album Is A Gem , But They Had A Lot Of Thrash Influence , To Me The Only Factor Of Them Being Death Metal Was The Track "Death Metal" Scream Bloody Gore Came Out With Raw Growls , Complexity , And The Fact Structures Was More Than Your Average Thrash Album , It Was Just BRUTAL .

Death is one of the only bands that sounds equally live and in studio recording sessions!! Chuck and the many great musicians that made music and albums with Mr Chuck Shuldiner are amazing because they never would have gotten chosen to do so if he in fact didn't think they were worthy of doing so. I will say this til the day I die, Death in my eyes is the greatest metal band in the history of human kind. RIP Charles
