So another worthwhile project hits the screen. No less the beast, a 'Mans bike', Cancelled in the name of safety, What ever you want to call it. This is the last un-restricted crazy idea from Honda to make a bike you simply can't use to it's full potential so they canned the class and for what? Dull 4 stroke restricted racing that still sees the CR500 2 stroke competing and winning in many cases after 20+ years of so-called- development. I want one. I want it in a glass case just to know I have something that belongs to another age.
Lets see if it is up to the hype..

Great project. I’d find it hard to resist the temptation to ‘super motard’ it and put it on the road 😉

Autoglym SRP is good on this plastic we use by hand on single stage.
Also Autofiness Tripple good on metal, interior wood plus plastic.

Well this is going to be quite the project. I am in Canada, and i feel your pain trying to find parts. Those oem plastics you found are amazing. Building the same bike soon so quite looking forward to watching your build.

Hi mate. I found your channel the other day! In fact I’m sitting in front of possibly the worst 87’ tank I’ve ever seen. Been working on it 2 days now. I am very grateful for your tutorials on plastics. Unfortunately I’ve had to resort to scraping thick oxidation and down to 80 grit but I’m down to orange phew! No short cuts.
I’ll publish the results on my next video hopefully. I enjoy your channel thank you 🙏

@MyRestoration1 awesome can't wait to see it. My tank is in pretty good shape. I will be able to restore almost every part of my bike luckily. Last two bikes cost me a fortune. On my 3rd tank for the oem bike. Last two were too far gone and had hairline cracking on the surface.

Love this! What a sick bike!
Did I spot a drum throne in the workshop?
I love when you include some music commentary as well. You seem to be a man of taste in many of life's important aspects: Motorcycles and music!
    Cheers from Denmark

Hi there. Well observed. Yes music is a big part of my life. I enjoy the motorcycles immensely of course but over time MyRestoration will start to include my dream studio build and my upcoming production but sometimes I still like silence!

@MyRestoration1 Man that sounds great! I also love it when you do your quick cuts during restoration and the music changes - it has its own beauty I think.
I remember reading in Pirsig's 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance' that he would always avoid mechanics who listened to the radio while working on bikes - since then I haven't dared do it myself. But I must say, I appreciate it when you do :D

@@peternaur what a nice conversation! For me it depends on what I’m doing in the workshop that determines the facility for music. There are days where I just feel like hearing a certain timbre. I’ve recently got into Bach and I can’t get enough then it’s Weather Report for a few days. It could be an interview. It just depends. I’ve always been a bit reticent to play music on my channel for fear of putting people off, some are, but I’m ok with it now as long as it does not detract from the work. Way better than the terrible ‘licensed music copyright’ things going on. Ah well there it is. I enjoy everyone’s company. I’m getting used to it. People are actually subscribing. Crazy!

Love watching these videos, im in the process of restoring an old SRAD. Have you done one of these? Or would you consider doing one in the future?

Hi Craig, thanks mate. I had to look it up! I actually have a gsx 600 air cooled engine. Lovely thing but no chassis to restore it into. I’d enjoy that. Good luck on yours!

Going to be a great build. Do you ever ride your bikes or is it the renovation process which drives you ?

It is indeed mate thanks. I don’t know yet to be perfectly honest. I’ll know when I try each one out. I don’t have my full license yet so still have to go through all that..

Ha ha sorry Henri I guess I was working in silence otherwise I’d be playing AC/DC or Boston in the CR500 mood!
