I had a kx500 back in the day and to be quite honest it vibrated so much the grips came off the bars and it was so rapid when ridden hard you couldn’t stop for the corners, I sold it and went back to 250 and rode faster !
Ripping that 500! Even if it might not be the optimal way to ride a 500. You can see you ride both bikes exactly the same way. Same clutching and shifting. Nuts!
It would have been interesting to have had your KTech suspension on the CR500 with a little jetting work on the motor. Maybe a big bore riding class from bossman and I think you might be equal on both. Whether you could last a full moto on the 500 is another matter! 🤣
Excellent comparison but think if the if the suspension and power could be played with and you could be given more time to get used to it, I definitely think you could even out the times on these two bikes and would be good to see it happen
I raced a CR500 for about 5 years straight and then I bought a brand new 2006 CRF450 and I was 7 seconds a lap faster on about a 2 minute a lap track. After years on the 500 the 450 felt like a damn moped. It was an amazing time for me. I am still very fond of the CR500……. But I know what’s up.
When are we getting TS TV it must be only a matter of time. Tommy the content creator. We need more personal appearances and maybe commentary on the junior races for Moto x . Stars if the future with some 1 2 1 interviews. Just a thought keep it coming, GMTV in 5 years time

Awesome riding. Pretty simple the way i see it. You are utterly scared of the 500 and how it delivers power compared to the 450. ZERO and i mean ZERO shame in that. With your skills and a little tuning of the 500 i bet you would kill it on the lap times. Just shows a 500 of old even in a modern chassis is no joke and we all should bow down to the riders of the era for manhandling them for hours on end.

I really think they should do 450 vs 450 and 250 vs 250. Two strokes are way cheaper to run. And a bored out 300 KTM could be plenty good to being privateers far in racing.
You are correct you are not failure with the power and torque of the 500. But, the good thing about it is you will only get faster the more you ride it. Where the 450 4puke you will only get to be so fast. You can push the CR500AF way faster.
Please setup and get more used to the CR500AF. Then do another lap comparison.. You will only ever be so fast on the 450 4puke. Where you will only get faster and even faster on the CR500AF.
I wrote this comment a million times. People really need to understand what it means that this engine is 38 years old. Like go and look up catalogues for the major manufacturers for 1984 and compare those bikes to today and then consider the performance of the cr500 engine
The 500 😎😎😍😍😍😍😍😍. That blew me away, I thought the heavier 450 would need more physical strength to ride than the 😍😍😍😍. Then again have only ridden 250 & 450f’s since switching from road, need to pop my 2 stroke cherry 😊
You will enjoy sevicing a 2T than a 4T!! I have had a 500 for 10 years no major crashes or injuries, brought a new 450 and crashed twice from the engine braking. I would back off the throttle if a drift went a bit far and the compression would lock the wheel and down I went, the 500 would just roll around and straighten up. My 500 has electric start and ohlins suspension so it's a dream to ride, love the handling of a modern bike. The 450 has more horse power due to it's high revving but the torque of the 500 will wheelie where the 450 will not.

Thing is, the 450 is easier to ride fast, but not everyone could ride the 500 at full chat. Some “hero’s” would get spat off it, then the beast would come back and finish them off for good measure 😂
The 500 wasn't properly set up. Carburation looked a bit rich and suspension not we'll set up. And, not less important, you need to ride a two strokes more than once to exploit its real potential.
It’s because you were scared of it. The 500 is a reason why you were more caution it and riding slower lap. That’s the only reason why the450 because you were used to it I’ve spent more time on a 500 two-stroke and I’ve rode four strokes the 500s much more powerful but unpredictable
On a bike without suspension work, that you never ride, you almost beat the fully setup bike you are comfortable on. In other words, with suspension, and 1 month of practice, you would Smoke the 450
If that 500 was dialled in and you had alot of time behind the bars you would be a right weapon on it just like you are on the 450 but main thing is they are both red 👍👌

Someone who rides 4 strokes all the time, 450 4 strokes all the time is gonna be faster on a 4 stroke then a 2 stroke, especially a big nasty big bore 2 stroke that's not setup properly for them.
Set the 500 up for you. Then ride it. The more you ride it the faster you will get. The 450 you can only get to go so fast. The 500 has way more to give.

You should give yourself more time as well as properly setup the Suspension for you. On the CR500AF. Your only going to get faster on the CR500AF. Face it the time you posted on the 450 4puke is probably the fastest time you can get. Ride the CR500AF and setup the Suspension properly for you. Do this again......

For someone looking to start out would you recommend a 2S or 4s obviously not either of those beasts.
I have a steelie CR and they definitely need suspension help in stock trim. Get your suspension dialed in and youll get faster- much faster.

i was surprised it was only 4 seconds faster on the 450 it looked visibly quicker i thought it was gonna be more like 10 secs

Try using the clutch on the 2stroke.. lack of experience.. poor bike challenge..
