I created a regenerating character. He can go days without sleep, but that's because his body isn't... Like yours. It learns. If you were a regenerator your body wouldn't really be stronger or better... It would be smarter. It would be smart enough to know what to do, whereas normally your body doesn't know all the things your mind does. This isn't the case for this character, his cells know what to do and if they don't they can learn. An organism that does the strongest thing, adapt, and at the smallest level too. A hard to destroy creature for sure

I have found that the "I am getting old" mindset is the real killer. Most age related health issues are a result poor habits that people have built up over time. Many related issues can be slowed, if not reversed, when following a healthier lifestyle.

I’m older than most people think (let’s see if you can guess my age…? 😉), but I’ve found that a healthy lifestyle & doing everything in balance is the key to looking & feeling younger than you are.
That includes realizing you don’t have to be Superman in all your training sessions (Periodized training becomes more important as you get older), getting enough sleep, not neglecting to do mobility & warmup work, not abusing any drugs, getting proper recovery time, & eating a healthy balanced diet that properly fuels your body to achieve your goals.
And last but not least, living your life in a way that leaves you happy & proud of yourself goes a LONG way in keeping you motivated to get up every day to keep doing everything mentioned above consistently.

So what is periodized training simply put (tried googling but i just got more lost)? My goal is to be a fitness jack of all trades. I want to have:
      - high endurance and stamina
      - functional strength to carry my entire body, heavy people, and heavy things
      - flexibility and control over my body like Elastigirl or Inosuke
      - agility and reflexes
      - bones, tendons, and muscles that don't get injured or strained easily
      - enough muscle that it can be seen through long sleeve shirts and enough that I don't need to flex for it be felt
      - whatever fitness and athletic abilities that prepare ppl for certain situations (life being in danger, running during chase moments, bedroom stuff, etc.)
Appearance-wise, think: Tanjirou, Mikasa or Levi, Avatar Korra, Vi from Arcane, or a combat sports athlete. Lean with lots of athletic abilities and enough muscle even when clothed.
Would periodized training get in the way of some of my goals or reduce athletic capabilities? Bc I've heard stories of body builders that look and are strong but their stamina is terrible and I don't want any problems like that.

I know he only briefly mentioned this, but to add a bit more clarity on the collagen he mentioned, collagen is something the body makes with dietary protein (this is why bone broth is so good for your body to get large amounts of collagen). when referring to supplements for people who have a vegetarian or vegan diet you need to get protein supplements not the supplements that have straight collagen in them, this is because the human body will NOT ACCEPT outside collagen and will only use the collagen that the body creates on its own. Personally I believe that for vegetarian and vegan diets if you're wanting more collagen then it's best to eat foods with high dietary protein (this would be your soybeans, red beans, and black beans, as well as peanuts, walnuts, or cashews, and any other non - animal bi product food that has high amounts of dietary protein in it.

I used to work out every day (different exercise each day) from late 2018 to early 2020 since I used to work the morning shift at my retail job, but then I switched over to the late afternoon shift and not only did I stop doing my workouts, but unfortunately the constant lifting at my retail store strained my body. I'm hopefully going back to an earlier time shift and from there I'll be getting back to my exercises slowly.

And meditation was definitely on there, but I completely forgot about yoga. Lol, thanks for the reminder. I can't wait to apply this new information into my life and help me come closer to my fitness goals.

Yeah I do moderate workouts when I do but rest most of the time. I've noticed I've gotten more out of my muscles than people who overwork themselves. I've also been unemployed most of my adult life, aside from 2 years at Walmart & a year at goodwill.
One of the reasons I'm 28 but could pass for 18.

I have mentioned to other people in a Cosplay and Fitness group in Facebook, that I should probably switch up to calisthenics after a year of weightlifting. Partially because even if you're moving more weight, being able to do 100+ pushus before needing to rest and do even more is far more impressive.

Also doing water fasting is a lot easier in the summer for me. Probably because it's just too hit to eat lol. I'm only 34 and noticed the left side of my beard is trying to go white. My mind is still telling me I'm in my 20s. My knee and back tell me otherwise.

@@fitnesse1288 as long as I can be mindful about keeping my front delts out of the way. one of my issues back when I did 300 regular pushups per day, I think after a while I just started thinking 'I gotta get this over with.' and didn't notice my delts were way too dominate. I've been doing pullups and lat pulldowns with no chest workouts for the passed year and haven't really fixed my posture.

Now I'm imagining some ad executive in Australia is going to try to find a way to do an anime tie-in with Vegemite.
As for how my fitness journey has changed over the years, a lot if it has been unlearning a lot of the toxic mentality that gets super-imposed on fitness, martial arts especially.
Back in college, I would put in 9 hours of exercise a week, between two martial arts classes and doing regular sessions at the on-campus gym. However, I was eating like crap, whole pizzas on the regular, drinking more soda than water, lots of junk food, etc.
Combine that with a mentality drilled into me by a particularly toxic TKD school that pretty much demanded abject loyalty, and expected students to go above and beyond, or they "weren't truly dedicated."
This led to a lot of moments where I would push myself in my exercises, even while injured, making things worse.
It wasn't until a few years after I graduated college and left the TKD school and worked on my traumas that I was able to rediscover my love of the martial arts and exercising in general, as well as learning proper form and proper nutrition.
It helps that I was also able to find less toxic martial arts instructors that respected the fact that students had lives outside of the training hall.

This is a completely amateur opinion, but if you're looking for day one kinda stuff? I would recommend searching youtube for something like 'beginner yoga.' You'll very easily find little ten-minute sessions you can get started with that are targeted for people who don't know much of anything yet; they cost you nothing monetarily, and don't need much time investment. Once you've got a few of those under your belt or have been doing them for a couple weeks, you should have a good platform for branching out a bit.

Hey jaxblade, I wanted to know if you could do a tough like the toons on Gyomei himejima the strongest hashira in demon slayer.
    Manga spoilers:
He is insanely strong even giving a match to upper moon 1. He could carry three logs whilst fire was all around him. He had significant roles in the battles and demonstrated his strength.
So I’m curious as to wether we could get his strength (and possibly physique) with weight training or even body weight or both.

For the water thing. I buy mio or other non calorie flavoring, and use a sodastream to add a bubbly effect. It makes a quart each time and a big cup. I probably get a gallon a day and it tastes really great.
