  • We (my partner and i) are back again cooking this week, since we have to cook for over a 100 people we serve big veggie and meat dishes and if we happen to have dessert that week we need around 4 13 x 21 inch trays. but, lots of people usually needs lots of food.
    I enjoy cooking and always have fun after all life is too short to not make the best and look for the good in every moment of life.

    Giselle , it is very interesting to see how you cook in industrial set . I think that planning and preparing ahead of time are the characteristics of any successful work. Especially if it involves many people. In industrial co-op setting it is the must. However, at home, where I have only 4 members of our family, I do the same things: to plan, to prepare , to think ahead what should I cook at this or other week and so on. So it is not particularly Hutterites issues . It is common sense in many ways. I have learned many things about agriculture, cleaning, and cooking from your vlogs since we all can learn about something from each other. You are professionals in these areas of life since you preserve, sharp your knowledge and skills, and pass them from generation to generation. It is valuable and important for human society. Not many people knows how to grow your own food on the big scale. A lot of information is forgotten and abandoned because it was not popular idea in the American society. Even in rural communities.

    I'm binge watching. So interesting. What is the colonies source of income? The high end kitchen equipment, the homes, food you can't produce...and you even have a Phaff sewing machine! It all is very expensive.
    When you are ready o marry, how do you meet? Do you go outside your colony? Just curious.
    I kind of relate. At 13 yrs old, I and my brothers were sent away to a self supporting boarding school I N. Florida. We worked 1/2 day and went to school the other half. I loved kitchen duty. By the time I was 14, I was making a dozen loaves of wheat bread a day. We had a garden, a d the boys built the buildings. As I said, just curious.
    Oh, and for religious meetings (twice a day) the boys and girls sat on seperate sides. This brings back memories.

    • @gisellewaldner9406
      @gisellewaldner9406  3 года назад +2

      this is interesting it sounds very similar to how we do somethings. we do sit separate, church we have once a day or we try to sometimes we don't have any.
      we manufacture firetrucks and we are also into farming and agriculture. there is no specific time to get married we go when we are ready and when we have been baptized. oh yes we do go outside the colony quite frequently.

    That bone broth looks so nutritious. What do you do with the left behind bones ? Is it churned into the soil out in the garden somewhere... to feed the worms... With your choice to have kefir for your pro-biotic and gut bacteria health, do you also limit your sugar intake and seed oils? The sugar and seed oils can be be inflammatory to intestine lining and the human liver.

I wouldn't think they would stay in a family style home or do they? I have a 16 year old that I had in my mid 30s so maybe your mom and I are close to the same age. I'm almost 50. Mix well and let sit 2 days or trow in a couple raisins and when they float you can move to the next step.

    Why did it end up that Hutterite communities are only (?) in Canada? I’m really surprised there aren’t any colonies in Australia.

    • @gisellewaldner9406
      @gisellewaldner9406  3 года назад

      There are also in the US but, the only explanation that I have is the hutterites moved to the US and then only years later moved to Canada

    • @vedcon
      @vedcon 3 года назад +1

      The Hutterites are of Bavarian/Tyrol/Moravian 16th century origin of Anababtist reformation movement who always migrated to flee persecution. Their settlements moved in 17th century to Transylvania and Wallachia (today's Romania) and later because of a war from there in 18th century together with some Mennonite groups to Ukraine and Russia. However after Czar imposed compulsory military service in Russia they had to flee again. This time to South Dakota USA in 1873~1879. Again, because of prosecution in USA due to WW1 military service and new property laws targeting Hutterite Bruderhof colonies, they mostly moved to Canada (MB, AB, SK) except one colony that remained. I cannot forsee the future since I am no prophet but I observe the World's events and I would recommend my brothers and sisters in N.A. like the Hutterites to start looking for another place on Earth to possibly move again eventually if the political and religious freedoms become (again) in this part of the World unbearable. Russia may be a good choice, but that's just my own opinion. Just to avoid any presumptons I am not Russian, not originally German and I do very well know USA.

      Our meat that we buy comes in that plastic we just wash it and disinfect it so that we can use it over and over again.

      But we do set our dryer on low so that nothing happens to the dryer or the plastic

    I am always surprised that y’all are so excited about the vlog. I’m used to the Amish, who don’t want a camera around them.

      Do you live around the Amish?? I've always wanted to visit them but, i don't know of any around our place. Oh we have had cameras for years youtube is a first but, alot of people are really into taking pictures.

      giselle waldner I live next to a large Mennonite community, but near Amish when I stayed with my grandparents as a kid. Ohio ☺️

      giselle waldner They are very similar, just not communal. Families have their own homes and farms, but come together to help out each other and celebrate.

      giselle waldner Plus, the Amish have no electricity, indoor plumbing, and travel by horse and buggy 😬 I couldn’t handle that.

      Oh i heard of that.....ummmm I don't think i would be comfortable living without those things especially electricity during our brutal Canadian winters. But, they are sooo interesting.

    I see you don’t measure when cooking. You have probably made these meals for so long you don’t need to. I, however, wouldn’t try it. Even when I measure it sometimes doesn’t turn out! I recently learned that there is a reason for using dry cups for dry ingredients and liquid cups for liquid. There is a science to it which you can read about online. I guess it isn’t so important for cooking but can make a difference when baking. Wonder how I got to be 71 and didn’t know that. Blessings
