Thanks for the video, very informative, detailed complete! I just got my 2023 CVO street glide last week and will make the adjustments on mine asap! Thanks again.
OMG. Thank you so much for putting this video out. Until I made an adjustment I wasn’t crazy about mine. I am starting to love it now. I am 85 miles from break in and will enjoy riding without being extra careful. I appreciate it. Thank you again.
Thank you for the feedback! Comments like this give me the motivation to keep creating content. Personally, I believe Harley should have some preload already set on the bike since dealers aren't doing this for the customer. Even though it's very easy to adjust the suspension, it might be intimidating do some people.
My manual for my 2024 rg has no section for the damping adjustment, i have to go look and see if i have the orange dials on the bittom of the shocks. Thank you for making this video.
Thanks for the detailed explanation, many previous "reviews" did kind of a shortcut. The new suspension is far better than the old design. I can't wait to get mine, this complicated setup procedure just screams for Wilbers self leveling. I hope they offer something soon.
@@RidingandWrenching Correctly installed, the Wilbers should still be better (and easier to use), compared to the new design. I hope they will listen to me during development, to get ultimate comfort, without endless procedures to set it correctly.
Stefan, I just recently put Wilbers on my 21 CVO Ultra Limited, are you saying that rear shock will not work on my 23 CVO Street Glide. I was thinking of putting them on my new bike, but now maybe not.....John
@@johnnielsen7881 I didn’t have a chance to try it yet, as mine is still in a container on the Atlantic. But you should change the front (when available) as well, to have a balanced setup
@@stefansgarage3014 I only picked up the bike two days ago, but did plan to try the rear shocks on this bike, because they worked "better than fantastic" on my 21 CVO. Hey Cue, I purchased a 24 RG CVO in legendary orange today. I've been waiting for a color I really appreciate and it happened! This is the perfect video to get my ride adjusted. Your videos are fantastic, thank you for making them. I appreciate you! I live in the Milwaukee area, please send me some warm weather so I can get out there!!
So Suburban Harley Davidson just outside Milwaukee had a CVO RG in Orange that I bought, a CVO Street Glide in copperhead, a CVO ST in Black, & 3 new Roadglides in great colors. Every other dealership in Milwaukee had nothing! It was crazy. That black CVO ST is Amazing....priced well too. @@RidingandWrenching
Hey Cue, has your CVO seat become more comfortable with time? I've put two 50 mile rides on my new 24 CVO RG and the seat is so hard and uncomfortable to me. I remember in one of your early videos, you were also uncomfortable on the seat when it was first purchased. I hope with time, it's become more comfortable for you. Thanks again for your channel. @@RidingandWrenching
Good Deal. found this just in a google search. on the left side adjuster can put a mark on the knob to identify the start point. instead of trying to remember where you had your thumb or finger.
Regarding the space adjustment, you're measuring between the rings, rather than the outside of the rings (top of the top ring to the bottom of the bottom ring). Per the manual item 6 "Turn the adjustment ring (2) clockwise (CW) until the distance from the top of the adjustment ring to the bottom of the lock ring (in mm) matches the calculated preload distance determined in steps 3 and 4, above."
I have Hyperpro. They are different in length. The left is 5mm longer. On purpose! So you have to measure the lengt of the springs on each side and not the rest on top, of the treat
It is amazing to me that HD is still using shocks that require manual adjustment... a proper design would be electronically controlled at the dash. I have never owned a HD with quality stock shocks. I do hear that these shocks are a big improvement over previous years. Having to manually adjust the shocks for each ride is ridiculous. My two cents :-)
@richardrussell500 there are bikes on the market at less than half the price of this CVO with electric suspension adjustment. A 15 minute video + tools for what should be a 2 second procedure in 2023. Harley is a joke!!
@@diyeveryday67 I own a HD... my 3rd one. have they been the best bikes I have ever owned in 40+ years of riding? nope. the problem is the foreign cruiser market is almost non-existent. I have friends who have crossed over to BMW and Indian. my first HD was a leaker due to poorly machined parts. my second HD had bad lifters, destroyed the cam and eventually sumped and grenaded the engine. my 3rd HD is doing well so far. less than 2000 miles. however, I am painstakingly searching for the dash rattle from hell. this will be my last HD if the engine goes south. my favorite bike of all time was my 2007 Yamaha Stratoliner 113ci engine. I was unwilling to dump $1500 in rear shocks. so the tire pressure went way down. and yes, having to manually adjust your rear shocks on a "premium" motorcycle with a spanner wrench is ludicrous. so, when you change from 1-up to 2-up or 2-up to 1-up, you have to remove the saddlebag and make the adjustment. and this is on their top of the line motorcycle! the money they are getting for these first-year bikes is ridiculous. the amount of money spent on these two wheels could easily buy 3 metric cruisers with money left over. : - )

The preload on the left (the knob) is for added weight (like luggage or an additional passenger). I think it cool because it gives you more flexibility. Hopefully there will be CVO Limited models next year.
In the damping the book said so many clicks from the hard position for your weight, however you already had one click from the hard position as per the book. So this is confusing and it makes me wonder why they wanted one click toward the soft side? Do they want you to remove that one click already set or count those clicks from the one click off of max hard setting?
I assumed the one click was the starting point. My setting called for 2 clicks. I have since added a couple more....I am experimenting with the settings to see if I can get it exactly where I want it to be
The owners manual doesn't mention that. I don't think it would affect it either way since you are measuring the distance between the 2 nuts....which should stay the same with or without a load

The manual preload won't be enough. You definitely need to adjust the preload on the right shock. I have my manual preload at zero.
Once the preload on the right shock is set properly, the bottoming out should mostly go away
