this is the most useful and creative ren faire budget costume video i think i've ever watched, most of them are like "just go to the thrift store and look for peasant tops ^_^ good luck i guess fatties :\" i'm gonna make a list of specific stuff to look for at the thrift store next time i go, ty
This is such a good overview of a lot of cheap hacks that should be simple to find while thrifting! You don't need to spend a lot of money to make a good look. You cover so many good examples of layering, and it really is that layering that MAKES the look.
Thank you for doing more unisex looks and advice. I find a lot of renfaire/larp things tend to be just "get a white blouse, long skirt and a tight vest or corset" and while thats cool its not at all my style haha
Good lord, you are SO creative and innovative in how you use clothes. Like, the wrap skirt thing? The belt skirt hike? _The christmas stocking bag????_ Nothing but respect and admiration from me, you are super duper skilled!
WOW! This has to be the BEST video I've ever seen on how to jazz up regular clothing to outfit yourself for the Renaissance Faire!! Thank you SO much for all these wonderful ideas and tips, I am so jazzed! I love that you thrift shop!! That you encourage use of clothing in ways not intended! and the use belts are also amazing. I will be attending during warm weather so I love the sleeveless dress look and the wrap skirt tips too. Just everything you showed is so inspiring and fun. Thank you so much, I loved watching this. The only suggestion I can make is that I couldn't hear you well in spite of having my sound cranked up to 100%. Not sure if that's coming from my end or what as I've never made a video. All the best!
Ahh thank you so much, I’m really happy to hear that! So glad you found the tips useful. I hope you have fun putting your outfit together 🥹 I did get a mic after this video because I agree 😭 so hard to hear. Thanks for the suggestion 🥹
as just a fashion/dnd girlie who doesn't really attend thematic medieval events, so many of these ideas are just extremely smart!! i gasped like 10 times throughout the video.
That christmas stocking idea is GENIUS!!! I've never liked going to thrift shops because my grandma would drag me there all the time when I was younger, but I think I'm about to be like her and be there all the time lol
Oh, YES you do! One of my most enjoyed activities in a medieval reenactment group was helping people assemble garb for their first event. I can take that "towels pinned on the shoulders" kind of idea and work it with them. No, no, no, no. I haunted the yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores. I watched stores that ran sales on appropriate materials and detail. We begged, borrowed, assembled, acquired. Everyone who has been doing that for a while has a chest of discarded belts, cups, hats, etc. There is a reason we have a "five hour viking" pattern. "material" is bedsheets, table linens, curtains...etc. I regularly picked up sheepskins at the local thrift store in the "baby" aisle. I cut apart damaged fur and leather clothing. I once stripped a couch. With a "little massaging," they were passable garb for a first event. Bless the stores that have old peasant shirts and skirts. Get a certain amount of advice...then do your own style to it. But GO, please DO go. No one will stare; this is a WE kind of thing. You will feel it. My favorite sheepskin cape was finished with a silver buckle I found on a disco looking belt in a thrift store. Two dragons/snakes fighting. Bought it for .50. I got so very many compliments about it.
The hair scrunci idea is brilliant! I do something similar with fake dreads I felted and tie into my hair. I added beads, trinkets and small animal bones that I've found. Great ideas!
Especially if you find a fleece/felt material it looks SO convincing cause the fabric is reminiscent of wool that a lot of medieval hoods were made from
I’m not usually into this type of style but your tips were so useful I watched the whole thing!! I love the way you encouraged reusing what you have at home/thrifting instead of spending hundreds of dollars on brand new stuff :)
Love so many of these! The cut up hoodie is genius!! Herre are three extra ones from me, a little more involved but good if you like to sew: - if you find a cool dress or skirt that is too small, remove the zipper and turn it into a lacing closure! just make sure to wear something underneath. - You can make avery simple medieval chemise ( aka underdres/ shift). I used Morgan donner's tutorial and some basic white cotton, you can also thrift some bedsheets or light curtains. - Never underestrimate cutting up a t-shirt for a better neckline and adding flowy sleeves. Bonus since it's strechy and easy to wash, you can sweat in it all day!
I love that you and cozykitsune are both these ethereal soft spoken beauties that simultaneously seem like you're timeless beings from another dimension that could destroy you with a snap of their fingers. Also these are great tips!! I love the hoodie into the medieval hood!
had to come back to say this video helped me SO MUCH i hit the thrift this morning and picked up a belt and bag i wouldnt have realized i needed! my fit is gonna go crazy now THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
The coin purse is so smart oh my god!! I haven't had the chance to attend a renfarie in a while but have been wanting to find one and dress up and this is so useful!!
If you have a nice shoulder bag, you can easily make it into a waist bag: Put it around your waist with the shoulder strap long enough to leave a fair amount of space. Make a loop in the exces of strap and pull the bag through. Make sure the strap that crosses at front when making the loop goes behind the bag (or it won't stay) and tada!
I’m losing my mind this is the coolest video I’ve seen in forever!!! I’ve also never been to a renaissance faire but I REALLY wanna go and dress all super cute and feel like my Skyrim character hehe
this was fun and helpful ! i also am looking if there's a belt maximum to hit... rayon/viscose is heavily processed but still made of natural fiber so don't be afraid of it second hand (buying new i'd say look if you find eco version ) i recommend not being afraid of synthetic fabrics when buying second hand either , when it doesn't touch your skin i find there to rarely be an issue at all
Thank you so much! Synthetic fibers feel totally fine, however, I recently wore a Renaissance fair outfit made of synthetic fibers to a hot Renaissance fair and I was miserable the whole time. The next day that I went, I wore natural fibers. I wore a linen shirt and pants, and I was so much more comfortable, I wanted to recommend natural fibers for hot weather because they’re way more breathable💗✨
I agree so much with not wanting to wear a purse! It gives me the worst crick in my neck after a long day at the faires too! Like you said about going from a strap to a skirt hike from Leafling Bags, I'd highly recommend a pocket belt from Blue Moon Designs if you're looking for an adjustable investment piece. (another cool artisan^^) I've been able to freely use it in and out of faires fashion-wise and it helps a ton with having my shoulders not be like bread knots from a pizza parlor.
This was incredibly useful. I live in Colorado so I'm a little biased but I'll definitely be using some of the things from this video next year! So thank you.
Omg you’d make an excellent Lucy from fallout cosplay if you decided to. Sorry just realised you look like Ella purnell!! Love how you’re reusing things like this!!!The skirt hike idea is soooo good! I’ve wanted a skirt hike for ages
I stumbled upon this video by chance and I'm hooked! I've always been into pirates and I definitely will take inspiration of your fits to draw some characters. Also, you looked so much like you were from medieval times that when you said "You're gonna want your phone probably" back at 5:50 I was like "What??"
Thank you so much for the tips! I’m trying to remake my costume from last year now that I have more crafting know-how, but I don’t have as much access to materials as I did then.
Wow, so many great ideas! Thanks for the inspiration. The next faire I am going to will be in November, so that gives me plenty of time to work on some of these projects.
I genuinely kept saying "oh my God" whike nodding and ferociously scribbling notes while watching this video. Especially with the bag stuff!! I didn't think of any of this! I was genuinely looking at some of the most price gouged stuff online trying to figure out how I could afford my renfaire outfit, but I'll definitely just go to my local good will and use some of these tips.
As a content creator I LOVE supporting artisans, but it can definitely make faire outfits seem unapproachable to new faire goers! I think thrifting, doing DIY stuff, and working on your fit + investing in some artesian accessories is the way to go! So happy you found this useful!
Best renfaire clothing styling video I've watched! All your tips were great and your outfits look fabulous! Hope you had fun at your event. Thanks for sharing this!!!
I'm moving to the Springs next year so I'm hoping I get to say hello! Thank you so much for the tips and tricks! They are appreciated and loved, as are you.
@@Incandescentkiki I will definitely have to keep an eye out! We'll likely be getting season passes since some of my friends have never been to a faire and want to go for all the themed weekends. I'm sure we'll be there on at least one weekend at the same time!
This year I’m going with a purple and black dress my sister got from the ren fest when she was my age, I’ll also be getting neck and wrist ruffles because I’m going as a clown
I love these tips, the christmas stocking bag is BRILLIANT. I love that your ideas go beyond "have good luck thrifting" and are things that could be done at the last minute with household items. Unrelated, but you look like you just stepped directly out of a pre-raphaelite painting, are you actually a reincarnated muse of Dante Gabriel Rosetti?
You remind me só much of a (mature version of a) child I used to work with. Lookwise 100% and also voicewise. She was fascinated with trees and philosophical ideas and storiea, she was also hilariously funny. She must be about 19 now, so just know you have a Doppelgänger walking around somewhere.
There’s not a great one near me (I actually drive 11 hours to one yearly haha) but I also throw my of fantasy themed parties with friends, so that’s an idea too 🥹💗
I love that you think of reusing materials you already have at home and thrifting instead of buying
Thank you! I think having versatile pieces in a wardrobe really helps with styling a variety of aesthetics!

100% cotton and linen fabric is important if you are going when its hot outside! that skirt hike hack is genius ! Thank you for all the ideas !
Thanks for watching!! So glad you enjoyed it
The stocking idea is GENIUS!! I bet those fancy pillow cases would also make some cool bags too since they have all kinds of beads and doodads
Yess! I want to make a sort of tote bag out of one soon!
This is such a good overview of a lot of cheap hacks that should be simple to find while thrifting! You don't need to spend a lot of money to make a good look. You cover so many good examples of layering, and it really is that layering that MAKES the look.
Thank you so much! I totally agree, being creative when layering basic or plain pieces can take you a long way!

I HAVE NO idea why but this video is unnaturally bright. Not like exposure, but something in it is making it make the pixels actually brighter!
I don’t know why but it’s like that for me too 😭 I don’t think any of my others do that?? So weird
blinding hazard video
The hair scrunci idea is brilliant! I do something similar with fake dreads I felted and tie into my hair. I added beads, trinkets and small animal bones that I've found. Great ideas!

23:38 Yo I love those knee high black boots. Your knight outfit is dope. The orange red looks fantastic with it.
wow i thought i knew what i was doing after being obsessed with costuming and fairs but this is the most useful thing i’ve seen ever
Thank you so much 🥹 I appreciate this

Dude what an AWESOME video, i have never enjoyed a crafty, artsy video more in my entire life.
I’m so honored, thank you so much for your comment 🥹
The stocking pouch is so fucking smart
I dont really plan on doing a renaissance faire any time soon but I do love to cosplay and these tips are so cool and crafty!! im subbing :)
Thank you! I hope to make more videos like this in the future!
This is super helpful! I love cutting a thrifted dress down the middle for a coat-look. And the diy skirt hikes are genius. Thank you!!!
was able to get some great things from a thrift store thanks to this video!! i'm so excited to go as a tiefling to the ren faire near me this year!!!
There's no rules to being a huge nerd❤😂❤ love everything.! Thanks for sharing
It’s just the truth 😂😂 thank you!
Really fab tips. Love the stocking idea and the hoodie being cut down.
The coin purse is so smart oh my god!! I haven't had the chance to attend a renfarie in a while but have been wanting to find one and dress up and this is so useful!!
Well, it is now imperative that I go to the thrift store and buy some belts. Multiple belts. All the belts.
You look so ethereally stunning 😢
"There's no rules when it comes to being a huge nerd" amen sister
For cloaks, you don’t even have to do any sewing. You can just get a big wooly blanket, fold it so it fits, and pin it so it stays on.

That green and purple color combination contrasts so well! I like it!! I don’t think there’s a color you can’t pull off. Lucky :)
Aww thank you! Watching it back it looked better than I thought actually 😂
