It wasn't the perfect conditions to show a difference in the sky as we were experiencing a calima in Fuerteventura, but it does usually help enhance cloud and sky details. It's definitely a worthwhile investment, Yasmin. Thanks for watching 🙂.
Thanks, Dave. I was hoping to include some sky shots, but a calima rolled in for two days, which appears as a flat white haze in images. Maybe I should have waited for a dry blue sky day in the UK 😀. There is no chance of that at the moment. As you mentioned in one of your previous videos, there is a lot of snobbery about filter brands, but most of the time, if you never said what brand you use, nobody would know. Cheers for watching.
Definitely my most used filter type. I think Luminar Neo has a Polariser filter in its AI toolkit, but I think it's mainly for enhancing the colours rather than removing reflections. So at least for now, a physical filter is still the best way to go. It definitely did a good job with your shots, some nice detail there. 😊
Thanks for watching Robert. It's definitely a must-have for anyone's camera bag. Interesting to hear that Lumiar Neo is trying to emulate the effects of a polariser.
It depends on what you are shooting. If I'm photographing water and want to see into the pools, I do like to use mine. Similarly, if it is sunny ( do you remember those days 😀), cutting down the glare on vehicles is a godsend.
Great video and demonstration Andrew! In Florida, my polarizer was my least used filter becsuse I actually liked rhe glare off of the ocean in my photos. Since moving to West Virginia, I've actually used it more in woodlands to take the glare off of the wet leaves and especially at the edge of a lake to show what's under the water a little more. Never used Hoya filters before, but I've heard pretty good stuff about them! Good stuff is always mate! Hope you are doing well, have a great week over there! I heard the sun is out!?!?
Cheers, Paul, the sun is out briefly today, I'm sure the rain is due back later. 🌧 If I was able to get up early enough, then yes, I'd probably want that reflected golden light on the sea, but me and early mornings rarely happen. Have a great week. Have you still got snow?
@@AndrewWaltonPhotography no, the snow is all gone now after a few days of cold rain. Now expecting spring like temps this weekend. Crazy up and down weather! You'll see the snow in my next video though 😂
Good subject for the video. I used mine all the time when shooting colour, but they are linear polarisers and can affect the operation of autofocus. I need to invest in a circular polariser for the AF lenses! Keith
Thanks for watching Keith. I nearly always carry one with me. They are reasonably priced too, although if you have similarly sized lenses, you could always buy a filter for the largest diameter lens and a set of step down rings.
What a difference that filter makes. Super photos, Andy. Absolutely love that multicoloured crab 🦀. I don't have a camera like that, I use my phone to make my videos and photos. Take care, Ellie.
Thanks for watching Ellie. The camera I was using in this video is a Panasonic Lumix bridge camera, very similar to Kim's Sony. To be honest, if I'm vlogging, I tend to use my phone but take pictures with the camera.
Really good demonstration of the value of a polarizer, especially with those aquatic shots. I have one but should really use it more often! I loved those last few images of the fish and the crab. Was that the FZ1000 in action?
It sure makes a huge difference! Awesome comparisons!
Thanks, Bruce. They are a handy accessory to have and very affordable.
Great insight Andy. Makes a real difference. 👍🏻
Thanks, Watto. The best value for money accessory you can get, I think.
Hey Andy 😊 not something I’ve got or thought about before for my camera, but you could really see the difference there with your photos.

I used Hoya for many a year always thought they were great quality at a very reasonable price. Great vid mate and good comparisons

Great video Andy.
I’ve got a polariser but rarely use it. Need to change that 👍
Thanks Phil, it is something I always carry with me in my camera bag.
Hi, big thumbs up 1...Wow...what a difference...Thanks for the tip...
Thanks for watching Elizabeth. 🙂
Oddly I very rarely use one, if ever.

Thanks for watching Dennis. It was the trusty old FZ82 that I took with me to Fuerteventura. 😉
