    I really like that you show the brush’s size and type and discuss what colors you mix together. That is very helpful for me. And, I am really grateful that you are painting with acrylics!...it seems most painters show videos of oil paints, and so it is hard to find good teaching videos in acrylic, so thank you again for that. 👍😄

    Although I paint in oils (beginner), I really enjoyed watching your tutorial. You described every step of the painting so well, including the names of colours used at every stage and your glazing technique ( in oil it would be liquin i believe). I am lucky to live in Scotland by the sea with plenty subjects to paint and thank you very much for the effort you have taken in posting this video on RUclips. I see you have other videos out there. I'm currently living in a draconion Asian country where the lockdown has been in place for 8 months. I have some acrylic paints and brushes. I've been very depressed as we now have to have medical tests, travel passes and wear face shields as well as masks even in our own front garden. I'm going to survive this by losing myself in beauty. I don't know if I have the ability to master tropical seascapes but I'm sure as hell going to try. I have some plywood pieces to paint on so here goes!

    i like the way you take it slow and just use a basic palette, i have a very similar photo i wanted to paint so i rushed out and bought cobalt turquoise and cobalt teal and pthalo turquoise thinking it would be easy i never knew you could paint the sea with cadmium red and yellow ochre, so ive binned my first attempt, put the new paints to the back of the cupboard and starting again

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  4 года назад +1

      Thank you for watching Lynn!! There is a whole range of colors you can achieve with a limited palette. I would keep pthalo blue and ultramarine blue, those two colors can reach a wide range of colors! And by keeping a limited palette you will achieve colors harmony and learn how to mix a variety of colors as well !

    that was helpful in many ways, thanks. I don't know how you're keep your paint on the pallet so wet, mine seams to dry out much faster. It looks almost like an oil panel. also, you seem to use a lot of mostly water in the paint. I had heard from one of the paint manufacturers representatives to be careful about how much water you use, for a few reasons, including that acrylic has a binder for the pigment and too much water effects that process negatively. Also, longevity issues. So curious about your experiential comments on that.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Год назад

      Hi Chris, glad the video was able to help some! About the water, yes, it is correct that too much water will somewhat weaken the bond structure in the binder but I don’t use as much water on my brush as you think! I actually keep it just damp, just enough to make it flow easier. And when I glaze i do the same thing, and I put just enough paint on my brush to cover what’s needed and wipe off the excess while the paint on the canvas is still damp, and that will show like a glazing effect! You can also purchase glazing medium if that helps. Thus far I haven’t had any problems with paint coming off or flaking off, or peeling! With time and practice you’ll be able to gauge the amount of water. Let me know if you want to know anything else! Thank you for watching!!

    • @GebahiArtworks

      Flats are more flexible than brights, that’s good for soft body paints and glazing, but not to move paint around as much! I use them anytime I need a soft touch. If you have to spread paint around than go with brights!

    • @GebahiArtworks

      It can be with Gesso, but if I remember, I used Kilz 2 sealer/primer from any big box store! Works great. But if you use gesso, use at least 3 coats. You can also use Shellac to seal the wood and then gesso .
