Amazing. I planted 900 tulips and 500 daffodils last fall and nearly killed my underused lockdown body, so much respect to these gardeners. I hope they can have visitors soon.
I believe that it relaxes your mind and spirit. We have a doctor in town that on weekdays is working in flower and vegetable garden (and it’s a bit of a secret). On a weekday he wears suit with tie and you would never know he is enjoys gardening unless you meet him personally in a community garden that he purchased for this village. He even pays for water bill each month.
That's funny. It's a beautiful place but most locals I know around here have never been there. We just take a drive through the fields across the country. No fancy designs but no tourists either.
I got to visit back in 2017 and it’s the most gorgeous place I’ve ever seen, this video does not do justice to just how stunning this place is in person. I truly hope to go back one day. 🌷🌹💐
I think Momotaro is a name of a Japanese folktale character. Where he was discovered as a baby inside a big peach. The flower being pink and white I think symbolizes the peach. Also the peach, Momotaro was in was found by an old couple (they wanted to eat the peach lol) who raised him. Until an ogre attacked the village his adopted parents was in so he protected the village. I can’t remember the story very well but I think it was a long those lines. I definitely want to visit here when I get the chance!
I visited Keukenhof back in 1997 and I still have vivid memories of just how spectacular it was. I'd love to visit again one day and highly recommend it at all. I'm living back in Australia so it's unlikely for me, but I'm so glad for the experience.
I visited Keukenhof in 1986 and it was so beautiful. So many flowers and an amazing garden. As a gardener I know the work that goes into this magical place. Hopefully 2022 will be a blessing for all of the hard work.
One of the most memorable days if my life was a visit to kukenhoff. The tireless work of Gardners and their planners is still fresh in my memory. Hope to visit this again as I believe, the themes change every year.
They ended up opening for just a weekend a few weeks ago. It was my first time there, it was absolutely breathtaking! So much respect for the hard work put in by all the gardeners
This is heart breaking. I was all booked to meet my mum and grandma there in 2020 for my mother's birthday. And then all flights out of New Zealand and Russia were cancelled and this year we are still not allowed to go. It is still an absolute dream of mine to see all the tulips and I can promise I'll be there as soon as we can come over. 🥰

Why compost when visitors would gladly buy the treasured bulbs/ flowers at the end of the season? It would help with additional income and would pay for premium compost if needed.
They could at least keep the onions and give them away or sell them to make some money back. Even though they compost them I do think it’s quite the waste.
They used to be rare and a tulip could sell for the price of a house! Then people got over it and alot of people lost alot of money. It was in the 1600s.
People started spending more and more money on bulbs after they turned into a luxury good. Once they became a luxury good the price sky rocketed and people started trading tulip futures. Since that was idiotic the whole thing collapsed. There is debate about how much of a financial impact the great tulip financial crash causes. It wasn't like there were tulip banks or tulip backed currencies or anything. A small group of well of merchants tried to buy up some overpriced bulbs to sell to the even more rich. Not great if you invested all your money in tulips, but that wasn't a wide spread problem. My favorite crazy tulip craze story of dubious provenance is the sailor who arrives back not knowing about the new tulip mania thinks a bulb is a fancy onion. After he's eaten the merchant that owned it freaks out because if could have fed his whole ship for a year and gets the sailor arrested for theft of tulip.
I think they should do exclusive outdoor dining experiences. So you can space people out while also charging a premium price for enjoying these beautiful tulips. It’s so sad that the effort of these gardeners are gone to waste!
the problem is probably that the government isnt letting them open. sucks cause the place is enormous...and outside..so they should be able to let at least some people in.
