  • BBQ on a budget! I made a simple injection for this smoked chuck roast and it was a game changer! Save money by cooking cheaper cuts of meat. Chuck roast (if done right) is one of the most delicious cuts of meat you can smoke. Some call it poor mans brisket.

Great video. The older I get the more I enjoy grilling. There is something very primitive, therapeutic and satisfying about it.

I love chuck roasts on my WSM, but have also made some really good ones on the 22" and 18" kettles too! Juicy and tasty! Love them. Great video, brother.

Poor Man’s Brisket! Another stellar cook Brother Ryan! I’ve done a few chucks but haven’t mustered up the courage to do a brisket.
Do you have a preference of banked minion vs. snake for long smokes? I also noticed you didn’t use a water pan for this cook.
I’m still trying to find my groove with the kettle. I’ve been using split baskets for most of my indirect cooks and pushed together for direct cooks. For longer smokes I’ve been using the snake or Slow n Sear.
Yours turned out beautifully! Tender, juicy, nice smoke ring!

I find myself using the minion method more than the snake. As for a water pan I’ll put one in there if I have an extra pan but I’m not convinced it makes a huge difference.

I am going to argue your title about saving money with cheap cuts.
I usually get two slabs cut to my specification when the NY strip sells for less than $4/lb. We typically grab one of these when I want to stir fry in the winter. It is also the first meat I grill in the spring after 6 months of wishing. Not every grilling has to be T-bone. As a matter of fact, we do not season expensive meat with anything other than salt and pepper. (It is the law in my house.)
It is fun to play with different meats and see what they can do. I generally do not slow-cook beef on the grill, but at a $10 piece of meat for the family, I think it may be worth getting the snow off the grill.

You only got about 45 min to smoke it and flame broil for a steak flavor 👉👉 LONGER IT COOKS THE MORE ROAST BEEF TASTE IT GETS. There enough thing a matter with a roast taste. But i mostly make steaks 🥩🥩out of it
