I was an incredibly loyal fan of the show. And this caught me like a ton of bricks. I reacted like Hope and Michael. Like I would collapse. I sobbed the rest of the show. There was, and hasn’t been since, such a powerful and impactful plot twist like that.

Gary's death was the saddest episode I have ever seen on any show. I still cry when I watch it.

I was in my early 20s when Gary died. His character was the one I loved, even had a weird TV show crush on the character.
I was just DEAD DEVASTATED, I mean like I cried a d shit.
I never watched after that character died. I didn't watch the Gary is a ghost thing.
    Gary died. I was done.
    Loved the character of Gary.

I watched every single episode. Attentively. I loved it. I loved how he came back as a ghost and we find out Melissa will marry Lee and have a son or sons together. I remember it really made me cry.

Shanto Lion - what channel on Cable are you watching Thirtysomething reruns? I would love to rewatch this Program again. I was 26 years old when the show began and I looked forward to watching it every week. I live in NJ. I think it was a Thursday night show on ABC at 10 pm in the late 1980s and early 1990s. My oldest child was attending Nursery School during the season that Gary passed away. It was unbelievable how much I cried during that episode. When I went to pick up my son from Nursery School on the day after that episode, all of the Moms were busy talking about Gary dying. We were all in tears while we were waiting for our children to be dismissed. It was such a shocking episode! No one ever expected that Gary would die in an automobile accident. 😢

IF you don't want spoilers, why would you watch this video? Obviously a video about someone talking about a 30 year old show is going to talk about plots of the show.

Wish he would have stayed on the show, all the women just complained.

Why is Gary's death even an issue anyway, the show was cancelled after a four-year run. And besides, that was the deal he made.

Hey Peter, how about you shut up going on about irrelevant garbage like Thirty Something. Give the COTC fanbase the interview you owe them. Linda Hamilton did and so did the rest of the cast on the umpteen DVD, Blu Ray releases which you've deliberately avoided giving over the past 16 years!!
