One of the best shows EVER made. The cast was amazing on so many levels. I still watch reruns.
Where do you watch the reruns? Is it on a Cable Channel or on one of the streaming services? I have tried Netflix, HuLu and Amazon Prime Video.
@@loriryan2045 Sadly it's not streaming anywhere. I bought all the seasons on DVD when they were FINALLY released around 10 years ago (and before streaming was a thing). I watch them all maybe once a year or so :)

I appreciate it. I loved this show when it was originally on ABC. My kids were in Preschool during the season that Gary died. I will never forget the morning after that episode first aired. All of the Moms were waiting in the school hallway for the preschool students to be dismissed talking about Gary dying (on a TV Show) with tears in our eyes. We were all so emotional regarding that episode.
@@loriryan2045 Aww what a sweet story, Lori. I'm probably a bit younger than you and I didnt start watching it until it was all over. I was still a (late) teenager when it started and my parents didn't watch it so it really wasn't on my radar so to speak! In our house it was Cheers and L.A. Law and Miami Vice (all great too!)
I first watched thirtysomething on Lifetime channel in what I assume was its first syndicated airing around 1993 or 1994 (so only a couple years or so after it ended really). By then I was on my own working at a hospital on the 3-11 shift. It came on I think at midnight and they played 2 episodes back to back. It was perfect because back then there wasn't much on late for us second shift people! I would come home, get a shower, make my meal and sit down just in time!
Although I was younger than the cast obviously, it gave me a glimpse of adulthood that I liked. I wanted every one of those people in my future 30-something life haha! I envisioned educated, witty friends who I would have over for dinner. I love older homes so I envisioned having the Steadman's house. And most of all...I wanted a husband exactly like Michael (and a marriage like there's as well)! Well - I wanted a mix of Michael and my own Father and Grandfather rolled into one! Aaahhh.. the dreams and naivete of youth! 😳😁
Now well into my 40s, It was, and still is my all time favorite show EVER. In the late 90s, Bravo channel showed it again and I watched them religiously. Then by the early 2000s it never came back. As more and more tv shows were being offered on dvd I kept wondering why oh why no thirtysomething?? Its not like it was some obscure, low rated show - it won many Emmy Awards for God's sake!! Then once social media and Amazon got big I started searching for info, found a blog, and there were rumors of the DVDs being in the works. Then finally in '09 or '10 they released the first season and I was ecstatic. What they did was then over the next 2 years, they released each season every six months (Why...I have no idea). I finally got them all and I'm very happy obviously.
***And in my opinion they are WELL worth it because there are quite a lot of interview extras you don't get by streaming! The dvd set of the first season is chock full of interviews with actors, writers, directors, and a long interview with the creators Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. It's really good. They go into so much I never knew! Then on each subsequent season, there are other interviews as well with Patricia Kalember (Susanna) and David Clennon (Miles) and more with the others again. Also, quite a few of the episodes have optional commentary during the episodes with 2 or 3 of the actors at a time. Like my favorite episode (because I'm a Christmas lover) was the Christmas episode from the 1st season. The commentary is with Melissa (Melanie Mayron) and Hope (Mel Harris). And then there are others with the other actors too - but again, its optional. Oh and I think the episode of Gary's death you mentioned has commentary with Gary (Peter Horton) and Michael (Ken Olin).
Seriously, if you love thirtysomething as much as I do, you will be very glad you invested in the dvds. I'm actually glad I got them before we could "stream" off Netflix or Hulu or wherever because again, with those, you don't get the extras.

@@loriryan2045 I saw some reruns on You Tube actually. There is someone that posted several episodes - mostly season 3. That's the only place I've seen them. I have Season One DVD's. That's all I could ever find. Just type in thirtysomething in search.

I’m here after realizing Roxy from the City is her daughter. She has the prettiest eyes as does Roxy and I loved Thirtysomething back in the day.

You mean the Nerd who played the Violin in "Revenge of the Nerds." He did a lot better with his TV Roles than with his Movie roles.
Yes, Elliot was the most complex character: goofing around in the Michael and Elliot Co, devoted father to Ethan and Brittany, irresponsible in his marriage and in business, brilliantly talented in advertising and praying to God for the life of Nancy who had cancer.
His was a role of many facets and he portrayed them all admirably.
For those who don't know, Patti won this award after the show had been canceled. Still a bone-headed move, in my opinion, as I think the series could have continued and the characters evolved. Even now, in 2021, they're still haggling over rights or something, so you won't see this on streaming... 🙄

Poor Angela Lansbury... she lost the Emmy 18 times (12 consecutive nods for " murder...")!
I liked her costar Ken Olin in Hill Street Blues and Patricia appeared with him on an episode in season 5 of Hill street Blues.
