Well, it is not the wheel bolts that are supposed to hold the wheel in the correct position. It is the center hole that will do. The bolts are not designed for this and there is a great danger that they will break off during use. If the wheel wobbles after assembly, it is the center hole that is wrong.

Couldn't agree more! Since the make their wheels on the cheap now we are left with the problem they created. Hub Centric rings will resolve the issue assuming you can get the size you need in aluminum. May have to have them made for your car. I'm still looking for rings that will fit up a set of keystones to my 65 Impala.

Yes. The Uni Lugs certainly blow. I had a 1970 Mustang which had Uni Lugs. It had 4 Uni Lugs but only enough lugs and washers for 3 of them. This was before the internet so I had no luck at finding them.

My dad bought a set of 15” Cragar Keystone classics (15” really dad?) for a 69 mustang fastback in 2005. Life got in the way and it’s been unfinished for about 15 years now. I don’t know who talked into buying a universal fit wheel for such an important car, but had I been there I’d of steered him right. I always hated changing any tires that used that shitty design. I read one guy rant how it’s not the design, everyone is doing it wrong. If it’s that complicated that so many fuck it up, it’s the design. I’m buying some proper true fit 17” Mag 500s.
Edit: Went with Shelby Ten spoke 15”. I know why he went with 15” and I don’t want to cut into the original sheet metal to make a larger tire work either. Oh well, if I wanted larger than 15” should’ve bought a new mustang.

What I’ve done is apply a thin layer of Sil-glide (clear caliper grease) on the front and back of the washer and the shank of the lug nut. This will help everything slide as you install. Do this from the day the wheels are new. Definitely not fast wheels to install but can be worth it if your done taking wheels on and off your car for a while.

Uni-lug stands for universal lug. The holes are oblong to fit the washers, the lug nut hole in the washer is offset so that you can pull these wheels off of Ford, flip the washer 180 degrees, and they will now fit Chevy or Mopar. If you want that style of wheel that has a reg centric hole buy a set of toque thrust D's.

Uni-lug wheels not good. Had Cragars and and the oblong hole does not instill confidence. On another note, you may want to try more fiber in your diet...

You can buy them drilled for your size.
I still have unilug front, but when I went to a wider rear, I got a new set from summit drilled to my specs

I put all the lugs on without washers to center the wheel. Pull the bottom lug off and put the washer on and snug it. Then go in a criss cross pattern keeping the lug I'm putting the washer on the bottom. Then torque them down.

@@davethorhauer1468 thanks man. I wonder if you are dealing with oblong washers tho? The problem I face (5x4.75, chev bolt pattern) is that the fat part of the oblong washer should be to the inside of the wheel stud. At this point, I can fit 4 out of 5 lugs, but that last one does not have the space to put the fat part of the oblong washer towards the hub, or inside of the wheel stud. I will try the grease idea. I believe these unilug wheels are designed for 5x4.5 (install with fat part of washer to the outside of the wheel stud), or 5x4.75. Washers appear to be oblong with about a .25" width difference between narrow/fat area of the washer. That's why I feel that the fat part of the oblong washer should be mounted towards the inside (towards the center hub of the drum/rotor) of the wheel stud.
Any experience with a solution would be appreciated
