    Oh my god thank you!!! You are the 1st person who has the exact problem I have and has diagnosed it correctly! I’ve changed the plugs, the coils, cleaned the intake and mass airflow censor and not a damn thing has changed. Well except for a reduced bank account and an incredible amount of hours that have basically done nothing. I just wanted to say thank you again for making this video.

  • @jimmykriske7572

    I noticed a communicator sound from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show! That's sick lol huge MMPR fan lol. Anyway I got a 2001 Toyota RAV4 2.0 and I just repaired head gasket on this and replaced my vehicle speed sensor since it shit out that code in the beginning, but as I put it back together I took head in and got it all cleaned up and all, new spark plugs, as well as an oil drain, flush, then oil change and I went with an Advanced Full Synthetic Castrol Edge High Milage, being the vehicle is at 203,000 miles, along with new oil filter. But my question is since after all this I ran code scanner again and not only did it throw out the p500(vehicle speed sensor) and p302(cylinder 2 misfire but it shot out the p300, 301,303, p1349 twice! Being I did an oil flush with regular new conventional oil before putting the synthetic in, would that of causeed this? Or wouldn't the flush have cleaned the solenoid ur speaking about? Or could it still be a dirty solenoid in there?
    Because my symptoms are rough idle no power when pressing accelerator down , I'll have to play with it to have it kick in and actually get vehicle in motion, and it seems I can only get the most power which isnt much right after a cold start, once it starts heating up all power is pretty much gone and sometimes even stalls out and dies. My exhaust manifold even heated up to a glowing red one time after only driving it around a parking lot for no more than 7 minutes and I didn't beat on it well because it didn't have much power to do so. I been feeling it's a simple fix or possibly clogged catylitic convertor in the exhaust manifold, I checked for vacumme leak that test came back negative so no vac leak. But yah just been doing some research on that p1349 code and I'm really thinking the reason for that code is my issue. I was told I possibly would need my ecm re flashed as well, being motor was all taken apart, and that could be why I'm still getting a p500 code for speed sensor malfunction. But anyway just would like to get it thoughts on it. I will continue to do more research and in the morning I'm gonna locate that solenoid and check it out. But any feedback would be appreciated. Thanku for ur time.

    Those are the vvt solenoids $80x2 get both. Those suck! your car doesn't run good after you replace them depending on how long you drive it like that. I ran like that for like a month, messed mine up kinda, less power even after replacing both. Maybe needs Toyota. My car ran really rough after maybe 10 min of driving then the brakes would get hard. Happened on my Lexus too but I caught it early that time, easy fix!

    My Avalon 2001 is more or less like this, in P it is normal in idle mode, when active D it starts to work wrong and becomes weak when accelerating, could it be the same problem as yours? and how do I remove this valve?

  • @smbrannon

    How about pointing out what engine the Avalon has in it? It's a 1MZ-FE, which is prone to oil gelling. I'm guessing the oil control valves don't like the sludge, and this would be a common problem, especially with engines whose owners don't change the oil frequently enough.
    I recommend that people who own 1MZ-FEs frequently Sea Foam their engine oil to help reduce sludge buildup. Sea Foam recommends one ounce per quart of oil 300 miles before an oil change, so five ounces for a 1MZ-FE.

    good video leek. so when I run across these codes for vvt and such, you are right, they are pulse width modulated, I use a tool by waekon #78065 Power Pro Tester, this unit will control anything up to 40 amps and pulse width/duty from 1 to 99. and you see the failure on the vvt sol when going from 1 to 50 duty...it sticks and you can see the lack of movement as you increase/decrease....good tool to have for testing anything pulse witdth/duty cycle....aes wave sells it little over 200...hope this helps you or someone wondering how the hell do ya test something duty cycle controlled....I'v had mine for bout 3-4 rears now

    • @billmck12345
      @billmck12345 6 лет назад

      oh and just for those looking for a quick answer and putting 12 volts on the sol looking for movement....leek is right, electrically you can test with 12v and ground but that test is not valid here on earth, and is not controlled that way installed in the vehicle.....when you put 12v on a sol you are ether slaming it open or shut...duty cycle is precise movement to desired level.

      @@Leekautorepair because the oil wouldn't turn dark that fast, at 3500 miles it was still golden. But i do agree 7500 is too much cause even tho on the dipstick the oil looked ok, in the oil filter it was really dark. im not going more than 6000 from now on.
