Knife making. How to make a knife.

In this video I'll show you how to make a knife out of an old file. My choice old file to make diy knife.
First of all, in the fire we need to release the steel, that is, heat it to a high temperature. Steel tempering is a stage of heat treatment and is used to reduce excessive rigidity, reduce brittleness and eliminate internal stresses in the metal. After heat treatment, it is easier to process the file.Typically, steel products are tempered at temperatures that are several times lower than the quenching temperature, while maintaining the martensitic structure that ensures the hardness of the metal. This heat treatment is mainly applied to cutting tools and other tool steel products.
Then I cut out the contour of the knife with a grinder. I remove all the bumps, I use a belt sander,
I use a wet stone grinder manufacture of the handle of the knife I cover with oil wax from Osmo. This video is not a guide and does not call for making a knife. This knife was made for filming a video, after the filming was completed, it was destroyed.

dude... the quench was... no. please redo the quench, it wasn't even at critical temp yet. my advice for the future is to use a magnet. if the knife is no longer magnetic then the knife is ready to quench and you will get a nice hard blade. the quench you did was uneven and too cold. I'm not saying you made a bad knife, it's absolutely gorgeous and made with very high-quality materials. Overall, good build and is very entertaining. I just noticed the quench was a little cool is all.
Still leaving a like and I encourage you to keep tinkering. :)

Umm sir. I do not mean to throw shade at ya. But that gard. Is it aluminum? Cause the blade/tang would be high carbon steel. ... aluminum and steel don't like eachother and it would be a waste of your time and energy if it fails on you. You mite want to change that out. Just a helpful suggestion. No finger pointing.

If i was watching properly what he was doing was normalizing the hardened file so that it would be workable. He did reharden and tempered it after shaping. 🥰
