I've read about fake resto videos, but this is the first one I've seen that's so obviously fake. Scrape a bunch of rust and dirt caked onto nonrusty metal and finish the handle. Woooo!!!
@@evilgenius396 yeah at first the knife appears to have tons of "rust" but after a single pass with a brush magically clean mettal with no ptting is revealed
@@evilgenius396 You don’t see the original grips because plastic, resin, and wood are too difficult to “fake age”. There was no putting on the metal which would indicate age. You could achieve a similar result by ordering a new knife from Amazon, burying it in a pot of soil from Home Depot, and watering it for a year with salt water. What were seeing here is an attempt to jump on a trend of making restoration videos by artificially aging cheap items from flea markets.

Completely agree with you Steve, seems they remove the handle, and let it lay in mud, or muddy water a few days, it was in a to good condition after removing from the acid.
Hmmm - this a relatively modern knife, and by the way it looked it is probably with a stainless steel blade with laser imprinted designs and a case animal head as a decoration. Not much to restore here.
When you just cake red clay dirt onto a knife and dry it out so it crumbles right off with no actual real work when you brush it. Rust is the oxidation of metal, which means it comes from a transformation of the original metal. Rust doesnt just brush off and leaves the original base metal untouched.
Yep, seems like it. No rust pitting at all. It's as if a new knife was put in water for a while and the only thing on it was initial rust that was easily removed.
Hmmm… I cant say that I believe in this video… when that is said, when you started handsanding the blade I kept saying to myself: “I hope it´s not Sharp”
It seems like you had a knife with broken handle, in my opinion you had two options: 1- create a video of making a beautiful handle for this perfectly pristine blade (would be the best) 2- should have kept it buried for a month at least so it could be more convincing restoration
Why is the material so convenient for video rusting? Isn't it going to rust after preparing the material suitable for the video? After watching this video, I was convinced.
Sorry but this is clickbait. Those are modern fittings (pommel and guard) available today. The "rust" is fake and it was only "restored" from the deception attempted here. Add to that the only thing they did actually do- made the wooden handle scales- they did poorly.
I was thinking that knife deserved something better than an old piece of junk wood for the wood scales too. Bloodwood or rosewood would've really popped on it. Even some really nicely grained walnut or mahogany would have been beautiful. That's one of the coolest looking knives I've seen on RUclips for sure. Whoever let it get in the shape it was in at the beginning should be flogged.
this "restoration" is very questionable. the "rust" cleans off in one pass of the brush. there is no pitting anywhere. the factory edge is still intact. the handle he "makes" goes from rough blocks to perfectly shaped with no middle process shown. very questionable.
This is staged. That wasn't even rust that was being brushed off. You could tell that it was only dirt. Notice that there was NO PITTING at all on the blade. Where is the handle? I think this guy took this knife, removed the handle, put a little rust on it and is trying to show his 'workmanship'.
Wow! What a amazing restoration on this gorgeous knife. You brought the handle back to it former glory. It's truly a Spectacular knife. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next video. Be safe and have a great week ahead of you 😃
Yeah wasn’t rusty at all. You can tell by the fine grind marks on the blade, they would have been gone after rust.

Somethings not right about this video. It's like the rust came off too easy, and the knife, hilt and pommel are in perfect condition...
I was thinking the same exact thing. No way the blade was THAT spotless coming out the citric acid. I call BS.

LOL that surface rust was falling off before he even hit it with the toothbrush :-)
nice nice, a week in water with salt and voilà - you can record new "restoration" video
Nah he just stuck it under the tap and then in the dirt, let it dry for 30mons and viola
yes, stage restoration stupidity, scripted
Imma be brutally honest- I stopped watching after I realized you “aged” the knife. That’s why it looks practically new with no pitting.
Skillfully prepared for looking rusty.
Just what I was thinking!

Sure, but it’s PRETTY.
Yeah fabricated rust. They are getting desperate for views
WHOA THIS KNIFE IS GOING TO LOOK AWESOME GOOD JOB
You went through all the trouble of rusting that mall dagger but couldn’t figure out how to make the plastic/wood grips look old, could you?

Love the pattern on that blade. Only thing missing is a matching sheath.

No pitting , original grind marks on the bevel, cleans super easy. Yeah this is real.

you made a much nicer handle for the knife than it sold with originally. Kudos!
Yeah I saw this bring sold in a magazine a few months back this does look better.
Bello mi piace. Ottimo lavoro. Veramente bravo.

I like it better with a piece of beef horn, black or white color looks more spectacular
