Looks like a Model 8-4 (Bird & Trout) to me - I found a beat up example of the same knife (without your lanyard hole) recently and it scrubbed up a treat. I haven't put an edge on it yet but will soon - I've read that unless otherwise requested, this Model comes from Randall with the upper forward edge sharpened as well (like a dagger), but I shall leave that blunt.
That's a Randall #8. I stopped into the shop in Orlando right around the first week of 1977 and paid $67 for a #8. I have cleaned deer, birds and fish with it over the years. The blade is discolored with a nice patina, no rust or pitting and takes a wicked sharp edge. Beautiful steel. It is the knife that the U-2 pilot Gary Powers had with him when he was shot down over the USSR in the early sixties.
That is really cool to know about the pilot Gary Powers and thanks for commenting and watching. Since I refinished this knife I have purchased 5 of them. A #1-7. 8-4. buxton fighter. 16w. #2-8. And I'm looking for a 27. I wish they was $67 bucks but those prices are never coming back.
I am not a bladesmith and I'm still trying to perfect sharpening. Lol but I can put a restoration job on guns and knives but mainly guns are my expertise.
@ it’s a Number 4 with a 6 inch blade. It’s an early 1950’s knife. It has the leather handle. I also have the original sheath. It has a stone, but it’s not original to the knife. I need to get $1000.00 for it. If you want to see pics just let me know and we can figure out how I can send them to you.
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 I do not see that email you posted earlier, I can send pics, just let me know where to. I should have took a screenshot, sorry about that.
@patbiggin4477 I actually found a nice randal model 16-7 and a model 1-7 for 1300 total and I bought them both. I'll pay extra to keep my 6years and enjoy my new to me Randall's now.
Why, is that so, called mud still wet? So, it was buried and just dug up within seconds? I've never seen any knife look like that, just laying outside for a year or so? It sure looks like artificial weathering to me!
Artificial weathering would be a ignorant thing to do especially to a very valuable randall knife. If I wanted to fake a video I'd definitely choose something more interesting and affordable. Thanks for watching.
Excellent work, sir. I have a Randall hunting knife from my late FIL...an heirloom...

On display in museum in Russia
Hey handsome. Great restoration
I need one of these knives in my life
They found one in a lunar module that was at bottom of ocean for 40 some odd years...brought it up cleaned up like new....maybe needed new scales.
That would be so cool to see
@rustyrestorationww1ww2 go to randal museum in Orlando. You'll be amazed. I got 2 myself ..I use mine.
To be curious, why didnt the owner want ti send it in ti randall to do their spa treatment on it?
Probably didn't want to wait the forever time frame they have and I'd think they would cost about 3x more than me
@@rustyrestorationww1ww2 ahh could be.
I wouldn't send mine in either but I'm also a bladesmith so I can fix everything I might mess up

Ill take that rusty old knife off your hands. After the neglect it has suffered it is probably worthless now. Ill give it a good home
It definitely went through abuse but now after it has had the royal treatment it looks like new. 😉
😂😂😂
I have one for sale.
What model and how much

It is hand forged out of O-1 tool steel. About a $1000 knife.
Wow that explains why it's such a nice knife I am extremely impressed on the quality.
$445 new from Randall if you wanna wait 6 years

@patbiggin4477 I was just looking at a few on ebay and better deals on Facebook but not much. They are very addive to us guys. 🤣
These phony "restoration" videos are time wasting and tiring!
